Work Text:
There are lips on the back of Roy's neck. Careful and gentle as always.
The only reason he doesn't startle is because Jay always makes sure to make some noise on his way in as a warning. Roy is very well aware that he could be dead silent if he wants to.
He's had his bird fly off in the dead of night too often to pretend otherwise.
"Welcome back, Jaybird," Roy murmurs. The lips pressed against his spine twitch in a semblance of a smile. "It has been a long time."
Do not misunderstand. While Roy would have rather had his Jaybird stay he is not bitter. Their arrangement has always been thus. Roy doesn't ask Jason for things he cannot offer and Jason does not lie to him. It- It is hard sometimes. Roy is a great engineer and he could perhaps design a gilded cage that could keep his Jaybird trapped at his side. He doesn't even consider doing so.
His birdy flies off and Roy can trust him to return. He always comes back.
Jason undoes the ties of Roy's leather apron and then wraps around him until his hands find their way to the buttons of Roy's waistcoat. He doesn't wear his coat when he works. He needs the additional dexterity of his shirt's sleeves when he is scuttering around his workshop. Besides, the apron would hardly protect the sleeves of his coats.
"Much too long," Jason tells him in between kisses to Roy's neck.
He has completely given up on continuing his work on the mechanism laid out on his desk. It will keep. Roy has more important matters to attend to.
He casts off his apron and turns around in one motion.
Jason is there, looking at him with half-lidded lust filled eyes. His normal immaculate appearance is disheveled. Roy is sure he must have come here directly from his airship. He did not even take a moment to rake a hand through his curls. He is wind swept with reddened cheeks of the cutting cold of thin air and he is perfect.
Roy folds himself into Jason. Kisses him with the emotions of a very first kiss and the desperation of a last.
Tomorrow Jason will show him the trinkets and automatons he has brought as gifts. Tomorrow they will talk about all the time they've been apart.
Tonight is for being together once again.
