Chapter 1: Morning Rounds

Chapter Text

At 6:38 every morning, the elevator to the 8th floor opened with the same soft chime. By now, the receptionist at Akso Hospital's 8th floor could tell the time without looking at the clock. She simply waited for the elevator. Four seconds later, a familiar figure stepped out. Li Zayne walked through the corridor with unhurried strides, a black leather satchel hanging neatly from one shoulder and a stainless-steel thermos in his left hand. His dark hair was still slightly damp from an early shower, and the sleeves of his white dress shirt were buttoned at his wrists. His white coat remained folded over one arm until he reached his office, which was another one of those tiny routines nobody in the department questioned anymore. The receptionist smiled, greeting politely as Zayne walked towards his office. He paused a for bit on his way and inclined his head for a simple efficient one worded reply, "Morning."

The Cardiac Surgery Department slowly settled around him like iron filings finding a magnet. Residents who had been chatting outside the conference room immediately remembered the patient charts in their hands. A nurse who had been laughing with another department lowered her voice instinctively. No one had ever been told to do so, it simply happened whenever Zayne appeared.

Resident Zhou who was standing in the hallways chatting with Dr. Grayson, jogged toward him before Zayne could reach his office bringing up a family member of a client needing meeting regarding his post-op condition. Zayne replied along the line of doing that after a surgery today as he went through the chart in Resident Zhou's hand who nodded at the reply before glancing at the neatly packed lunch container protruding from Zayne's satchel.

"Woah you remembered and actually brought lunch today!" Zhou exclaimed as he pointed towards the bag.

"I was actually reminded," Zayne replied as he glanced at the satchel handing over the file back.

Before Resident Zhou could ask what that meant, Zayne disappeared into his office. The young doctor blinked and scratched his head with the edge of clipboard, "...reminded by who?" his eyes following Zayne to his office. Yet nobody had an answer as the other residents went back to discussing their own issues.

Three floors below, the med-surg ward was already drowning in chaos with call bells chiming every 5 minutes, wheelchairs and IV stands squeaking across polished floor with patient's mobilizing, and the smell of congee from breakfast drifting through the hallway was cherry on top to the chaos.

"Nurse Zhang!" called a CMA as Yuting looked up from her documents in the medication room.  "I'm coming, please wait," replied Yuting calmly.

Compared to the bustling energy around her, she seemed almost strangely still and unrushed.  With her small stature, she partially disappeared behind the medication cart whenever she pushed it through the hallway, her short black hair tucked neatly behind ear as she scanned patient prescription one after another.

Senior Nurse Chen handed her a chart. "Yuting, 527's daughter wants another explanation. And 510's Mr. Zhao refuses physiotherapy."

Yuting sighed and closed her eyes, "I'll speak with her. Also, refused physio again? I'll try what I can do."

Senior Nurse Chen smiled knowingly at Yuting, "You always say 'try.' But you succeed anyway."

Yuting gave a small smile as she walked away to the concerned room. Inside room 527, an elderly woman looked up apologetically mentioning about 'being a burden and her daughter wanting to know her condition'.

Yuting pulled a chair on the right side of the bed so she could sit at eye level, "You aren't bothering anyone, Mrs Fan. And what would you like to know?"

The daughter looked embarrassed and gave a small smile to Yuting. "I just wanted to know why she's still dizzy."

This is literally the seventh time I've explained it to you! Do you guys not exchange information with each other?!

Yuting internally berated but explained the medication changes patiently, drawing a simple diagram on a notepad to show how blood pressure could fluctuate after surgery. The older woman and her daughter listened carefully, joking about how her knees felt like she was still in her 20s.

By the time Yuting left the room, both mother and daughter looked considerably less anxious. As the door clicked shut behind her, her calm expression faded into private resignation with internal monologue ongoing.

Please don't test your knees tomorrow. I'd rather not catch you climbing onto a chair to reach the curtains. Yet experience suggests you absolutely will.

She heaved a long sigh and adjusted the chart under her arm, making her way to the station. The nurses' station buzzed with conversation. Nurse Mei practically collapsed into her chair and stated that she returned from cardiac surgery. Nobody looked up but someone mumbled a sarcastic congratulations. This didn't stop her from pressing a hand dramatically against her chest and looking around, "I'm serious! Dr. Li looked at me for three whole seconds."

Another colleague, Rin gasped, "Are you alright?"

"I nearly forgot why I was there," Mei crashed back onto the chair with yet another sigh.

Yuting quietly signed a medication record, "He probably wanted your report."

Mei pointed accusingly at Yuting, "You always defend him."

"I do?"

"You DO!" exclaimed Mei.

"Though I've only met him a few times," Yuting documented her reports as she listened to her colleague's rambling.

"And every single time you say he isn't as scary as everyone claims," mumbled Eve in the station.

Yuting capped her pen and looked forward, "Perhaps because he isn't."

The nurses exchanged skeptical looks. "Have you ever seen him smile?"

Yuting thought for exactly one second, "Rarely."

Mei leaned across the desk. "Aha! so he does?"

"I imagine everyone smiles occasionally," Yuting scoffed and reached for the file of assignments.

"Not Dr. Li."

"I'm fairly certain facial muscles don't stop functioning," she commented as she continued going through the files. The entire station erupted into laughter. Senior Nurse Chen shook her head, "I don't know how you manage to say something so dry with such a straight face."

Yuting blinked innocently as she looked around, "Was I joking?"

On the 8th floor, Zayne had just finished explaining a bypass procedure to a patient's family. The elderly man's son bowed deeply. "Thank you for taking the time." Zayne returned the gesture politely with a bow of his head and added, "If you notice any change in his breathing, notify the nurses immediately."

As the family walked away looking noticeably reassured, Resident Zhou approached again. "Dr. Zayne? I have a question."

Zayne closed the patient's chart and fully looked at the younger, "Ask."

"Do you know Nurse Zhang from med-surg?" Zhou coughed out.

"A little."

Resident Zhou sighed, "I don't understand her. I am trying to pursue her because she's just my type and I tried making conversation yesterday, I asked if she'd eaten lunch."

Zayne remained silent.

"She said, 'Eventually.'" Zhou ranted while glancing at his shoes. "I asked whether she was tired. She said, 'Reasonably.'" He looked genuinely distressed. "I can't tell if she likes me or if she's politely enduring my existence."

Zayne adjusted the cuff of his white coat with a small twitch of the corner of his lips, "She did answer all your questions, so she wasn't ignoring you."

"Yes, I suppose?" Resident Zhou frowned thoughtfully. "I feel like you're oddly good at interpreting her."

Zayne's expression remained unchanged as he stood up from his chair and looked at Zhou, "Some people simply speak differently." He walked away before Resident Zhou could ask another question. Behind him, the young resident followed mumbling, "Maybe geniuses recognize each other."

From the nurses' station, Head Nurse Liu overheard the comment and chuckled quietly, "If that's your conclusion, Zhou...", she picked up another stack of patient files "...you've got a lot to learn."

By noon, Also Hospital had settled into the familiar rhythm that every healthcare worker recognized. The morning rush had ended, but the hospital was never truly quiet. Somewhere down the corridor, an infusion pump complained until a nurse silenced it. A porter pushed a patient toward Radiology while apologizing for the cold air in the hallway. The scent of disinfectant lingered beneath the richer aroma of lunch drifting from the cafeteria two floors below. For most people, lunchtime meant a chance to rest. For hospital staffs however, it simply meant hoping nothing urgent happened before they managed to take a few bites.

Yuting had just finished helping an elderly patient settle back into bed after physiotherapy. "Does your knee still hurt when you bend it?" she asked, adjusting the blanket over his legs.

"A little."

"It should improve gradually," Yuting assured to the patient with a smile.

He looked at her with a mischievous smile, "If I recover quickly, does that mean I won't see my favorite nurse anymore?"

Yuting smiled politely, "I think your family would be happier to see you at home."

His wife laughed from the chair beside the window, "I've been telling him exactly that."

"I know," Yuting replied gently while checking his IV line. "He just likes having an audience."

The old man coughed dramatically, "I've been betrayed." His laughter echoed down the hallway after she left.

As soon as the door closed behind her, the warmth in her expression faded back into her resting face.

Mr. Wu has flirted with every nurse over fourty years younger than him. At least his blood pressure is improving.

One of the junior nurses hurried over carrying a clipboard, "Cardiac Surgery requested the latest blood results for Bed 518 to be delivered to them."

"I'll take them. I'm heading upstairs anyway," Yuting convinced as the younger nurse smiled gratefully.

The 8th floor always felt different. The conversations were softer and quieter, and footsteps slower. Cardiac Surgery carried a certain gravity that even visitors seemed to notice. Yuting stepped out of the elevator and walked toward the nurses' station.

Resident Zhou, who was standing beside the station spotted her immediately, "Oh, Nurse Zhang."

She handed him the chart. "The repeat blood work for 518." He thanked her and accepted it before glancing around, "Dr. Li wanted to review these personally."

Almost on cue, Zayne emerged from a consultation room. His white coat was immaculate despite an entire morning spent between patient rooms and operating theaters. A pair of reading glasses rested low on his nose as he scanned another chart.

Resident Zhou approached him with long strides, "The results."

Zayne looked up. His eyes met Yuting's for barely a heartbeat and nodded.

"Nurse Zhang."

"Dr. Li."

"The patient's potassium?" he questioned flipping through the reports.

"Within normal range," answered Yuting.

"The repeat ECG?"

"Attached behind the laboratory report."

He nodded, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Any further interventions, Dr. Li?"

"No, please continue the same treatment protocol," Zayne replied as he went through the investigations before handing it back to her. The exchange was professional and efficient, lasting perhaps ten seconds. Yuting inclined her head politely before turning toward the elevator again.

Resident Zhou watched her leave, "You two really don't waste words."

Zayne continued reading, "Neither of us had anything unnecessary to say."

"...I guess that's true," Resident Zhou mumbled as he looks at the charts.

Inside the elevator, Yuting finally allowed herself a slow breath. She smiled ever so slightly. His tie had shifted again. Enough for her to notice it. He always adjusts it after surgery. He forgot this time. She wondered briefly whether he had eaten. Then she frowned. He probably hasn't.

Her suspicion proved correct. At 1:30 in the afternoon, Zayne finally sat down in his office. Dr Grayson blinked, "You're taking a break?"

"For fifteen minutes," he laid out his lunch box in table ahead of him.

Grayson looked almost impressed, "I didn't know you believed in breaks."

"I don't. I was instructed," Zayne mentioned as he took a sip of water first.

"By whom?" the fellow surgeon wondered as he looked at the lunchbox and then towards Zayne who was opening his lunch box laying out steamed rice, braised beef, stir-fried broccoli, cherry tomatoes and carrots.

Resident Zhou who just walked to them stared, "Someone packed that beautifully."

Zayne hummed and picked up a pair of chopsticks. Resident Zhou noticed something else, "Dr. Zayne? You don't even like carrots. Why are they always in your lunch?"

He paused, a brief silence followed. "They're nutritious."

Resident Zhou and Grayson nodded slowly in unison and shuddered, "You've changed."

Downstairs, Yuting's own lunch remained mostly untouched. She had barely opened the container before another call bell rang.

Senior Nurse Chen noticed immediately, "Go eat. I'm serious."

"I will," Yuting looked down at the now-lukewarm rice and sighed. "Time moves quickly."

"Because you keep ignoring lunch," Senior Nurse Chen sighed and she went to attend the patient.

With a quiet sigh, Yuting finally sat in the break room. She had just taken her first bite when Mei burst through the door, "I have a gossip."

When nobody reacted, she looked offended. "Fine. I have hospital gossip." That earned three pairs of eyes.

"I knew it."

She pulled out a chair dramatically and lowered her voice, "So... I think Dr. Li has a secret romance."

Yuting nearly inhaled a grain of rice, eyes wide as she glanced at her coworkers.

"Really?"

"Definitely."

"What makes you think that?" Rin asked.

"I saw a lunchbox."

Silence.

"With tomatoes and carrots."

Yuting blinked, "...Tomatoes and carrots?"

"Exactly."

"Explain."

"Dr. Li doesn't eat carrots," Mei revealed.

"...How do you know that?"

"I've worked here three years and he always leaves them. But today..." Mei pointed dramatically, "He ate them."

Eve frowned digging into her own lunch, "Ugh you're so random with that information! Maybe he decided he likes carrots now."

"No. This is love!" Mei insisted as she got comfortable in the chair.

Yuting quietly lowered her head, hiding a smile behind her water bottle. You are... surprisingly close. Just for completely the wrong reason.

The afternoon passed more quickly than either of them expected. By six o'clock, everyone looked equally exhausted. Zayne had completed two surgeries.

Yuting had admitted three new patients, discharged two, and convinced one stubborn old age patient not to remove his heart monitor 'because it was making him look like a robot'. He had argued for ten minutes, but obviously she had won. Barely though. Skip the details.

Outside, the sky had turned shades of amber and violet. Employees streamed through the hospital entrance toward buses, taxis, and the underground parking garage after a successful handover. Yuting deliberately left the building seven minutes later than usual so they wouldn't get caught by people. She always left a few minutes after Zayne. He always parked on the lowest level, far from the staff elevators. Five years together had taught them that love wasn't the difficult part. Remaining unnoticed was.

The underground garage was quiet as only a handful of cars remained. Yuting slipped into the passenger seat of the familiar sedan and closed the door. For several seconds, neither of them spoke. Then Zayne reached across her.

She turned towards him with raised eyebrow, "Seatbelt?"

"It's twisted," Zayne grasped the seatbelts and began adjusting it.

"I was going to fix it!" Yuting replied stubbornly as she puffed her cheeks.

"More like ignore it till we reach home and jump free from the shackles of seatbelts?" he joked as he saw her expression of utter betrayal.

"Hey! How dare you? Okay... maybe I was gonna do that for that good extra minute of couch time," Yuting lightly punched him on the arm and turned towards the window crossing her arms. He shook his head lightly with a small smirk at her playful demeanor and clicked the seatbelt into place before starting the engine. Only after they pulled onto the main road did the silence finally break.

"You didn't finish lunch. You brought home the tomatoes," he continued as his eyes were directed onto lunchbox poking out of her bag. She followed his gaze towards her bag. There, three cherry tomatoes remained untouched.

"Remind me to throw it in the bin next time?" she pointed at him and joked. "And you looked tired this morning. Did you stay up reading again?" Yuting looked at his furrowed eyebrows and lines below his eyes.

"I was. I couldn't sleep," Zayne glanced at her briefly before returning his eyes to the road taking a right turn. "You also stole my blanket and wrapped yourself in it like a burrito."

"I borrowed it because I was cold," she huffed and started out of the window.

"Also, you left me with a corner to sleep in," he added into the list of 'complaints'.

"Hey but you survived!" she replied with a poke to his left cheek. A beat of silence passed. Then with complete seriousness, he said, "I've considered buying a second blanket."

The absurdity of the situation and his dry joke was so sudden that she snorted out loud and had to cover her mouth. "You've been considering that for three winters."

"But you'll still steal mine, so buying another would be inefficient," Zayne contemplated as he tapped his fingers onto the wheel. She shook her head, smiling to herself.

By the time they reached their apartment building, the exhaustion of the day had settled comfortably between them. As the elevator carried them toward the twelfth floor, Yuting leaned her head lightly against his shoulder and interlocked their finger inside the pocket of his coat. Neither of them said a word. For the first time all day, there was no one watching. Just two people who had spent five years mastering the art of pretending they barely knew each other, finally allowed to exist as themselves.

The elevator doors opened onto the twelfth floor with a soft chime. Yuting stepped out first, trailed behind by Zayne, fishing the apartment keys from the side pocket of her tote bag. The hallway was quiet, save for the distant hum of someone's television behind another door. She unlocked Apartment 1207.

The moment the door clicked shut behind them, the weight they both carried seemed to fall away. Zayne slipped off his shoes and placed them neatly on the rack without thinking. Yuting, on the other hand, kicked hers off in opposite directions before taking exactly three steps into the living room. Behind her, Zayne managed to arrange them onto the rack too as he shook his head at her antics.

Without warning, she turned around, walked back to him, and wrapped both arms around his waist in a quiet embrace. Zayne's one hand came to rest lightly on the back of her head, fingers disappearing into her short hair. She tilted her face upward and spilled it out, "Had a difficult patient today. Mr Wu."

"The flirt," both said at the same time and cracked a smile at their thought.

"He proposed to me again."

"Again?"

"He said he'd leave his wife if I accepted," Zayne raised an eyebrow. "She told him she'd help me pack his suitcase."

Their apartment reflected both of their personalities. The furniture was simple but carefully chosen. Bookshelves stretched across one wall of the living room, filled with medical textbooks sitting comfortably beside novels, travel guides, and the occasional cookbook Yuting insisted she would eventually use. A small succulent sat on the windowsill. It had somehow survived three years despite both of them occasionally forgetting to water it. The kitchen was spotless. Mostly because Zayne cleaned while cooking.

She wandered toward the bedroom to change out of her scrubs. Zayne loosened his tie before rolling up his sleeves and opening the refrigerator. There was enough stew left for dinner. He placed it on the stove to warm. Behind him came a muffled voice, "Zayne?"

"Hm?"

"My hoodie."

"What about it?"

"It's missing."

He looked toward the bedroom, "I washed it."

She emerged wearing an oversized grey sweatshirt that clearly belonged to him. The sleeves hung well past her hands, swallowing her entirely. Her legs bare for view as she wore nothing beneath the sweatshirt. Zayne looked at her for a second. "You found another one."

"I know where you hide them."

"I don't hide necessarily them?" Zayne said it more like a question while stirring the pot of stew.

"You absolutely do," she sat beside him on the chair.

"They're folded," he motioned for her to come closer to stir the stew.

"In your wardrobe!" she went after him to keep an eye on it.

"Correct," Zayne turned on the rice cooker to go along with stew, rinsing his hand below tap.

"So I have to steal them."

"You have my permission," he said as he went into the bedroom to change and freshen up.

"I prefer stealing!" she yelled as he went away.

Dinner was served in comfortable silence. The kind shared only by people who no longer felt the need to fill every moment with conversation. Rain began tapping softly against the balcony windows. Yuting rested her chin in one hand while eating. "You forgot to blink."

Zayne looked up, "Excuse me?"

"You've been reading the same journal article for three minutes," she mentioned pointing at the screen he's been staring at.

"I've blinked," Zayne replied blinking twice manually.

"Yea, twice," she snorted at his reaction as she went back to eating. "Oh also, Mei has a theory."

"I'm almost afraid to ask," he sighed but looked at her anyways.

"She thinks you're secretly in love!" Yuting leaned closer and pretended to whisper holding her left palm right beside her lips.

He paused halfway through reaching for his glass, "With whom?"

"She doesn't know. But her evidence is tomatoes and carrots."

Zayne deadpanned at the reply, unable to process the reasoning.

After dinner, Yuting stood on the small wooden step stool in the kitchen, reaching for two mugs on the highest shelf. Zayne entered carrying the clean dishes.

"You could ask," he released a small laugh as he tried to reach for the mug.

"I can reach," she objected his help.

"The stool is wobbly and unstable," Zayne pointed as he leaned at the kitchen counter right beside her and watched her shenanigans with amused smile.

"Shut up, loser!" Yuting exclaimed and before she could protest further, he simply reached over her shoulder and took the mugs down effortlessly. She narrowed her eyes at him and folded her arms, "I was going to get those!"

"Yea yea whatever you say," he handed her one of the mugs which she accepted it with exaggerated dignity, "I'll forgive you."

"I appreciate your generosity," Zayne pretended to curtsy.

Later that night, the apartment lights dimmed until only the warm glow of a floor lamp illuminated the living room. Yuting curled up in one corner of the sofa with a blanket wrapped around her legs. Zayne sat beside her reading through tomorrow's surgical schedule. She looked over the top of her book. "You're still working. It's 9.30."

She shifted closer until their shoulders touched. Without looking away from the screen, he instinctively leaned into the contact. Five years together had turned little things into habits. He absentmindedly reached for her hand while reading. She intertwined their fingers without interrupting her own book. Neither acknowledged it. It simply happened. After a while, Yuting closed her novel, "I'm tired. But I don't want to move."

"Understandable," Zayne hummed.

"You'll carry me?" she looked at him hopefully and climbed on his lap wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You walked twelve thousand steps today," he looked at her eyes and smiled.

"I know," she grasped his face in-between her palms and stared straight into his eyes.

"You can walk another twelve," he smirked

"Ugh! Heartless," she pouted dramatically. "I take back everything nice I said about you."

"You've said nothing nice today," he pretended to be sad as he started at the floor, finally closing his folder.

Zayne gently pressed kiss onto her forehead, shifting to her cheeks and then lips. Gently pecking it, he moved downward to her neck and collar, when he left rows of dark blossoms after every sucking, licking and biting. Faint whimpers released from her lips as he continued his ministrations. He slowly parted from his task, only to remove the sweatshirt from her body- bare, and on-display for Zayne, only for him to continue downwards. He wasted no time to claim her breasts and provide them the same treatment as her neck. Left hand groped and massaged one while his mouth abused the nipple of the other. Sucking, licking and gently scrapping his teeth on the nipple earned him a sharp intake of breath from his lover, while his index finger and thumb took nipple of other and rolled and pinched it, rewarding him with multiple whiny breathes with his name.

He moved back to kissing her and asked for entrance, and when she didn't he lowered his hand onto her exposed bottom and brought his middle finger right above her hot core, the only barrier between it and his finger being her thin cotton panty. The cloth stuck onto her because of her wetness. He then gathered wetness right from above with his middle finger and brought it to her clit. This earned him a sharp gasp and an entrance to her mouth. Both fought for dominance with their tongue, Zayne however won as he massaged the clit lightly with the tip of his middle finger lubricated by her wetness causing her to let out a low moan swallowed right away by Zayne into the kiss. He continued to abuse the clit with circular motion right above the layer of cloth. She moved her hips in motion with his own finger to chase her own high. She rolled her hips against Zayne's own visible bulge from sweatpants soaked with her first release.

Zayne reached for another kiss from her as he removed his sweatpants and boxer to free his member. It was flesh pink, girthy with visible veins underneath it with angry red tip and precum leaking from with pulsations every now and then. She automatically reached for his length with both of her hands stroking it up and down. Zayne continued to pleasure his lover with another kiss onto her left breast, and bites and sucking near it. His right hand reached for her core again as she leaned her upper body completely onto him. Sliding aside the thin cloth that covered her already wet hole, he inserted two fingers which was met with deep breaths and a moan from his lover. Moving his middle and ring finger inside her for few pumps to which she responded with few kisses and bites of her own onto his neck, he pulled them out to inspect his achievements and smirked as he looked at them— his fingers slathered with her clear sticky release as deep as he went inside her.

Slowly he brought his length against her bare core and rubbed it over while she was right above him with their chests touching. He grabbed her by her hips and moved her up and down against his length without inserting it inside her, spreading her release into his own member and mixing his precum with hers. It went on for few minutes as he continued abusing her clit again by using their mixed juices to rub her clit. Her second orgasm of the night hit again as she jerked and tried to pull away from the stimulation, but Zayne held her in place, causing her to mix her release with his precum and spread it all over her crotch and thighs.

Zayne suddenly grabbed her by the hips and raised her high enough and slammed his member inside her hot core with one swift motion. Unfortunately for him however, all of his length never did fit inside her at once even after all the years of being together. He pushed as deep as he could, meeting a resistance inside her and pulled back out as tears fells from her eyes due to overstimulation as he hadn't even given her time to recover from her last orgasm.

"Can you start moving, my little jasmine?" he whispered into her ear accompanied with breathy whimper. His lover then moved her hips in to and fro motion despite her quevering legs. Sounds of squelching, and moans and whimpers echoes inside the living room. Zayne however wasn't satisfied despite the effort his lover put into pleasuring him, so he flipped them over with her back onto the back rest of couch and him above her without pulling himself out. He began thrusting into her from above her, alternating from deep and slow to shallow and fast, driving her insane with stimulation. He began sucking on her neck and chest and kissed her all as he continued thrusting onto her abused hole, their juices mixed inside her, wet sounds filling the room every time he moved inside her.

If anyone were to see them in this position, it would seem as if Zayne was humping the couch and not actually fucking a person due to their size difference as Zayne's body covered the entirety of his lover's. He spread her leg apart and went deep into her and stopped causing her to cry out due to overstimulation. This went on for a while until he finally decided to end her suffering and started slow and went to faster pace as he grew closer to his release. Yuting's whines echoed in the apartment along with Zayne's grunts and whimpers. She had her third release of the night as Zayne was still thrusting onto her, as she rode out her high with him still pumping into her, overstimulation racked her body. Tears streamed down her eyes, overwhelmed with fourth consecutive orgasm as he continued to pump into her in unforgiving pace, and Zayne finally had his first release inside her, pumping his seeds with each pulsation of his length, pressed balls deep inside her.

Zayne then picked her up, still inside her, as she clung onto his chest, and laid her down in their bed. Only then did he pull out of her to see their mixed releases trickle down her abused hole as she lied their half awake, high in release and thighs wide apart. He pressed his palm onto her core and kissed her clit, bringing her thigh onto his shoulder.

"Zayne? Again?" she spoke barely above whisper lifting her head to look at her lover in-between her thighs.

"It's only eleven at night after all, love. We have all night," Zayne commented as his eyes stayed glued onto her core and dove into it.

By the time they were done , it was already 2.35 in the morning, they had been fucking for nearly 5 hours. Zayne looked onto his chest where his lover was sleeping peacefully, cheeks resting lightly against his chest, her hand still wrapped around his neck. He was still inside her, without much thought he moved himself in and out inside her again, wet sound echoed in the room and their releases overflowing her hole and a low whimper from her. Zayne smiled— a real one this time, though no one from the hospital would ever believe it if they saw. He moved her hair to side and saw all the remnants of their deeds onto her neck and shoulder and chest along with his own now blossoming into dark marks. He frowned almost imperceptibly. That's going to be visible tomorrow.

She unconsciously nestled against his chest again, and this time he rested his cheek lightly against the top of her head, hands on her waist as he slowly drifted to sleep himself.

Outside, the rain continued to fall, washing away the noise of the city below. In the morning, they would wake before sunrise. They would put on neatly pressed uniforms, greet each other with nothing more than a polite "Morning, Dr. Li" and "Morning, Nurse Zhang". Their coworkers would continue believing they were simply two competent professionals from different departments. For now, that secret belonged only to them. And neither of them minded keeping it that way—for just a little while longer.
