Can we wander for a spell?

Summary:

Miku is worried for her friend, and checks on them every so often

Notes:

Another Vocaloid one-shot. Cuz apparently the only way I can write good fics is through listening to music :p

Work Text:

Ding Dong!

Miku rang the door bell to the aparment, and stood there, waiting for a response. She was carrying a bag, filled with groceries and other important items from the store near the apartment complex. Miku looked around, trying to find something to do or look at while she waited fro her friend to open the door.

She looked around; at the door number (39), the sky (A cloudy day, about to rain), a bird that was pecking at a piece of bread near her feet. After a few minutes without a response from Miku's reclusive friend, she set the bag down, and left the friend another text.

"Right, that should be enough for now. She'll come out and get them once she needs them." Miku muttered to herself.

"Sooo, what have you been up to?" She said to her friend behind the door, hoping that they would respond today. "A new cafe opened today, and it's pretty popular right now. They sell little cookies, and you can even make your own design. I brought you some so you wouldn't feel too left out. They're chocolate flavored, which I thought were pretty good."

Miku waited, but didn't get a response.

"Still don't want to talk? … That's okay. I"ll just come back tommorrow."

"Sitting here is actuatlly really peaceful. The view isn't exactly the greatest but most sceneary here is just drab buildings and a few trees scattered around, so that should be excpected. It's pretty quiet out here, but the birds do make it better."

Miku paused for a moment, listening to the sparrows chirp. "Speaking of birds, today I saw a really pretty blue one near my apartment. It was so colorful… Let me send a picture to you so you can also see it."

Quickly opening her phone and uploading it into their chat, Miku closed it and tilted her head while looked into the doors peephole. Why won't you come outside anymore? You don't answer my texts or talk… the only reason I know you're still there is because all the food dissappears when I come back…

I really hope you get better soon.

Two days passed, as even though Miku worried for her friend so much, she still had to keep herself afloat. Hoping that she could calm her self by performing, she sang into the mic, channeling all her worries into music.

"Woah, that was really good!" A audience member shouted out. "Yeah, you could be signed one day." Another praised. Usually this would cheer Miku up, but today she just wanted to go, and be outside her friend's door. "Heh, thanks! I'll be back next week." Waving goodbye to the croud, she packed up everything as fast as possible, then rushed to get to her friend. Maybe it was a bad idea to perform today…

Leaning over the railing and looking down onto the streets she was just performing on, Miku said to her friend. "I know that you're in there… it sounds strange but sometimes I kind of just know that you're feeling sad or your hearts throbbing in pain. Whenever that feeling shows up, the only thing I want to do is come over here and check up on you, make sure you're doing okay."

"No matter what happens, I'm going to be here for you. It's normal for you to feel this way, okay? If anyone says that's weird, then they just don't get it. They don't know thats what makes you you, and why I want to be friends with you, even if you try and push me away. That's not going to work, I'm going to support and help you, through thick and thin, alright?" Are you even listening? Miku looked back at the door. I only want to help you…

"Maybe one day when you come out, we can go do kareoke again, sing and talk until the sun comes up. Let's go sing along to our favorite songs, the ones that make you laugh and laugh, even the ones that make you cry. I'll hold you when you can't do that yourself, and we can share all our troubles and thoughts. We can see all the parts of us that we don't like, and let our tears run." She stood there, phone to her chest. Let me in, please. Let me love you and show that you are wonderful, and it's a shame for you to be locked up behind a door.

Staring into the peephole, hoping that just maybe she could reach through to her friend that way. Miku only wanted to let her friend know that they weren't alone, they didn't need to suffer by themselves. Why did they feel like they needed to isolate themselves? What happened, was it her fault in anyway? Was that the reason why they wouldn't talk to her anymore? Why, just why…

"Well, I guess my words would be no use to you if you can't here them from behind the door. At least you can see me, and know I'm here, right?" Miku waited, not really excpecting an answer.

…

She sighed, "Yeah, I didn't really excpect you to answer…" She stared at the door, dejectedly wondering whether or not her friend even wanted to listen to her prattling anyways. It had been so long since she had heard her friends voice. "Could you please come outside and talk to me one day? I just want to look inside of your heart and help you. As creepy as that sounds, it's true. Even if I can't see you, your pain is also kind of my pain. Please open this door…"

More silence.

"Alright…" Miku stood up, brushing off all the dust. "I'll be going now… Bye." She waved, then walked away from the door. When she got to the stairs, she turned around, foolishly hoping that she would see her friend waving back. Seeing that no one was there, Miku turned and walked down the stairs.

3:23 PM

Mikudayooo: I heard that there's going to be some pretty harsh weather in ur area soon

Mikudayooo: Stay safe ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

The ground beneath her feet, the cloudy sky above her head, the concrete walls on her right, the railing looking out onto the city to her left. The cold wind rushing all around her, the smell of winter from the snowfall. The small piles of snow still left around, slowly melting into puddles. The thoughts swirling through her head, running around and around like a merry-go-round. The silohuette in front of her. The person she had been hoping to see for over half a year.

Her friend.

Miku rushed forward, desperate to hug them, hoping that this wasn't a dream.

The warmth of arms around her, the feeling of wool on skin. The breath of someone else. The tears streaking down her face… when did that happen?

The two of them stood there, hugging, hearts beating in tandem. Miku was beyond happy, her friend had finally come out of her self-imposed isolation. They could do all the things they couldn't do before, they could spend all the time they wanted to together.

"Soo, uhm. Want to come inside?" The friend akwardly suggested. Miku grinned.

"Of course."
