It Was an Accident, Your Honor.

Summary:

Frank was going to kill him. As soon as he could see his feet again and could walk without waddling, Frank was going to kill Dennis.

Notes:

Just needed fluff, and feeling weirdly anxious and scared about uploading anything, which is silly but thought a light fic to ease back into things might help.

Work Text:

Frank was going to kill him.

As soon as he could see his feet again and walk without heavily waddling like some deranged duck, Frank was going to kill Dennis. It wouldn’t be hard, and Frank was pretty sure he could find a way to make sure it looked like an accident. And really, who would convict him? He was forced to waddle, hot, heavy and wildly uncomfortable, his rounded stomach pressed against the fabric of his maternity sweater, his feet swollen, and the alpha dared to walk around looking like that.

Not only did Dennis have the audacity to walk around looking like that, but he also had the nerve to actually wink at Frank while he did so, Bo secure on his hip, resting her head against his shoulder, looking both completely unimpressed and totally smug at being held by Dennis, where she was dressed in a onesie with bats on it, and sweater overalls under her coat, looking painfully like Shen.

Frank’s genetics never had a chance.

Fuck, Dennis was hot with a baby.

“You can’t kill him.”

Robby’s dry voice breaks through Frank’s thoughts, the bearded man looking at the omega with an amused, knowing look, Hailey in his arms, Bo’s identical twin, dressed equally as adorable in the pumpkin version of the same outfit. Shen was still supremely annoyed that Dennis was his pups’ favourite alpha and not Jack. Something Robby liked to tease him about constantly.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Frank defended innocently, hand absently moving to his rotund stomach, the result of Frank’s birth control failing, giving a strong kick against his stomach, and he gave a wince, and Robby gave a slight chuckle.

“Uh huh.”

Robby played along as Frank sat down at the picnic table at the sun-filled and crowded cider mill and handed Hailey over to her omega seamlessly, sitting down next to Frank, his hand going to the heavy swell of his stomach automatically. Hailey gave a string of babbles, as he did, looking up at Robby with a pout of betrayal on her round face, giving the alpha a huff as she settled against Frank.

“I hope Carter and Bea ask Jack to do bedtime tonight.”

Robby gasped, his own look of betrayal blooming on his face at Frank’s words; the fight for bedtime rights was a constant war waged between Robby and Jack, since Carter’s birth almost six years ago, and it had only gotten worse since Bea's birth and then the birth of the twins, both men having strong opinions on the other's storytelling skills and tuck-in techniques. Shen had pulled Dennis aside shortly after Frank realised his birth control and suppressant shot had failed, and he was once again pregnant, something Frank had not planned to be again until after he finally finished his residency, if ever, and warned him about the bedtime wars.

No one was brave enough to fight Shen over his Saturday morning breakfasts. That was his alone, and Jack’s mate was not above playing dirty to keep it that way.

“Nope. That’s not happening.” Robby declares, reaching over and snatching Hailey back with a huff, the baby grunting agreement, making Frank roll his eyes. “Like papa deserves to do bedtime after what he did?”

“After what I did?”

Jack’s question was smooth and low, daring, the greying man cocking a brow at Robby, before turning to look at Frank and giving him a wink and a lecherous look, a white bag full of doughnuts in one hand, a drink carrier full of drinks in the other, “Hi, baby, miss me?”

“Is your offer to run off to Canada still open?” Frank greeted back, giving a small stretch, and Jack’s expression morphed into excited anticipation.

“Ooooo, are we at the killing Whitaker stage of pregnancy? Finally.” Jack put a hand on Frank’s stomach. “It’s my baby now, bitches.”

“Jesus, Jack.” Robby admonished, “Not in front of the baby.”

Jack straightened up, but not before placing a possessive and playful kiss on Frank’s temple and rolling his eyes. “Robby, our pups have Shen as an alpha; they’ve heard worse… and in multiple languages.”

“This is why I should get to do bedtime.” Robby shoots back, and Jack gasps, scandalised by the idea.

Any further bickering is halted by Carter’s cheerful yell of “Look Momma, Baba and I are the same!”

All of their attention was grabbed by the bright, cheerful little voice, Shen looking infuriatingly handsome in a cream cable knit sweater, a green field jacket and jeans, his hair carefully styled, with Carter holding onto one hand and Bea holding the other. He looked like one of those handsome leading men from the dramas Shen was slowly getting Dennis, Frank, and Jack addicted to.

Carter adored Shen and wanted to dress just like the sarcastic alpha, and Shen took that personally. Carter, who looked so much like Robby is was genuinely terrifying. Frank would study Carter for hours, trying to find any part of him in Carter’s look, hoping for some sort of claim on his pup. Frank’s genetics had even less of a chance than they did against Shen’s. Now he was dressed in a navy fisherman’s sweater and equally small field jacket, with his brown hair flopping down into his forehead, and Frank wanted to absolutely melt.

A feeling that intensified when his gaze landed on Bea. Bea, with Frank’s large blue eyes and Jack’s round cheeks with freckles, had insisted that Shen dress her as well. Resulting in Bea dressed in a matching fisherman’s sweater, with a puffy brown tulle and cotton skirt, patent leather shoes with tights and a headband.

Frank was worried he would have to mop both Robby and Jack off the cement, the pair melting at the sight of the pups almost as hard as Frank was.

“We can make Shen’s death look like an accident, right?”

“It’s not our fault he didn’t check the stairs at home for toys.”

“Oh no, he tripped over his shoelaces and fell into traffic.”

“His heart attack came out of nowhere.”

Jack and Robby muttered back and forth, while Shen’s smug smile grew the closer he got. “Not like we need him to raise the twins.”

“If we help Frank kill Dennis, it eliminates the rest of the competition.”

“I mean Hailey and Bo are practically mine, anyway.” Jack shrugged with a playful little smile, “and not as the baby will ever know Dennis.”

“Dennis who?” Robby shot back, and Frank rolled his eyes at their antics. “Give me my baby.” He demanded, holding his arms out for Hailey and earned a synchronised “no” from both men in return, Robby angling his body away from Frank and Jack sticking out his tongue as Shen and the pack's two oldest pups finally joined them.

“Momma, momma, momma, momma,” Carter chanted with excitement, bouncing on the balls of his feet, still holding Shen’s hand, while Bea crawled up onto the bench and settled in Jack’s lap with a long-suffering sigh, and Haily gave a couple of grunts and babbles, reaching out for Frank.

“What, what, what, what?” Frank teased back, earning a giggle from the little boy who took a proud stance.

“They have doughnuts, and cocoa, and a hay wagon, an’, an’ an’” they waited patiently as Carter got his thoughts in order, “an’ a lady said I was handsome like Baba!”

“Hear that?” Shen asked, kissing his mate first, Jack leaning his head back for the kiss, and smirking when Shen moved to kiss Frank, Frank sinking into the sensation, pulling back when Hailey gave an annoyed little “my.”

“I’m handsome.” He waggled his brows at Frank.

“Yes, you are.” Frank nodded, giving up Hailey when she reached for her biological alpha, and Carter wasted no time in sitting next to Frank, leaning against his omega with a satisfied hum.

“Almost as handsome as Dennis.”

Shen’s expression fell into a scandalised pout. “Oh, that’s cold.”

“Daddy’s here?” Bea asked, picking herself up from where she was reclining against Jack, to look around for Dennis and Bo.

“Daddy just took Bo for a diaper change,” Frank wanted to laugh at the expression of betrayal on Jack and Robby’s faces. “Look, I see him.”

“Daddy!”

Bea yelled out, grabbing Dennis’s attention, from where he was talking to Bo on the walk back from the bathrooms, and Frank watched in horror as he smiled and waved at Bea, Bo, once again on his hip, diaper bag hanging from his shoulder, and dressed in a black t-shirt and a plaid flannel overshirt, and Frank found himself needing the younger man in a way that was concerning to omega rights.

Frank was going to kill him.
