OR skk undercover as demigods.

Notes:

FINALLY AFTER 11 MONTHS I HAVE FINISHED WRITING CHAP 1 ... heh. Enjoy!!
The first couple of scenes are quite dry but I urge you to continue reading, it gets better!

Quick info:
Ability users are the next generation branching off the legacies.
Instead of being half god/half human, they have supernatural abilities connected to their souls.
Because of that, they have no drawbacks. Pulling energy and power from an infinite well makes them unstoppable.
Thankfully, the abilities themselves can vary on how big or small it is.
Ability users more often or not have patron gods and goddesses.
So they can "claim" them when the situation calls for it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: This Is Where I Broke My Wrist

Chapter Text

PROLOGUE-

The dying fire flickered around the buildings, looking at the surrounding area it was demolished by an unexpected explosion. With the rubble still crumbling at the slightest wind. An ambulance's sirens could be heard in the far distance, standing there was a breaking news reporter. She nodded to the cameraman, taking a deep breath.

“Good morning everyone, At 8:38 AM I have just arrived at the bombing site of a Port Mafia's warehouse. This explosion was reported by a passerby at 8:19-8:23. There were no causalities as far as we know, only a single black cat was killed. We are still trying to contact owners, please submit your telephone number at the emergency website opened from 8am to 10pm shown here…”

“Police are currently undergoing investigation and trying to put out the fire as much as possible. Expect more updates upon further notice. ” the woman reported and nodded once again to the cameraman.

Click

The TV fuzzed out and turned off. Francis pinched the top of his nose, annoyance slowly creeping up along his spine. He removed his hand and waved at Louisa May Alcott, his trusted advisor-assisant and gestured for her to bring out the heavy black one connection phone.

“Ms.Alcott, please contact Ougai Mori for me.” Francis ordered.

The nimble woman nodded and scurried away like a rat.

It was finally time to end The Mist Statues.

Log 1 [ - Chuuya gets a new phone! (He smashed his last one) ]

Chuuya Nakahara doesn't dream because of the singularity inside of him. But that doesn't mean he can't have nightmares (memories) of his terrible past.

That's why almost three times a week Chuuya wakes up with sweat covering every inch of his body and a throat too hoarse to speak from the screaming.

That was where Chuuya wound up now.

He stirred the mixture of honey water while blinking tiredly.
It was 6:00 AM and his throat was completely broken, he could barely whisper, let alone speak.

Chuuya gulped down the water and felt it sliding down his awfully painful oesophagus.
He was draped over his kitchen counter with his mug, sitting on the spinning bar stool.

Ping!

Chuuya flinched from the loud noise destroying the tranquil atmosphere.
Fighting the urge to smash his mug, Chuuya picked it up and immediately clicked on the message with his gloved fingers.

[Mackerel 🐟]
Dazai: Chibi
Dazai: Hatrack
Dazai: slug
Dazai: Chu-Chu
Dazai: petit Mafioso
Dazai: Chuuyaaaaaaa~
Dazai: Hund

Chuuya: Oh my gods stop
Chuuya: Shitty Dazai!!

Dazai: oh wow! (lll⚆ᗜ⚆)
Dazai: The Chibi has finally responded!!
Dazai: (⑅•ᴗ•⑅)

Chuuya: Ew stop with those stupid emojis
Chuuya: What do you want

Dazai: my dog is so boring!! (。´-ω・) ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
Dazai: underneath the painting he calls.
(You are to come to Mori's office)

Chuuya: Wait what? This early?
Chuuya: I'm not falling for your tricks again Chuuya: I'm cutting you off
Chuuya: for the last time I'M NOT YOUR DOG

Dazai: No! Wait Chuuyaaa!!
Dazai: I'm not joking!!
Dazai: Mori actually said so~

….

He stifled a groan and ran his fingers through his auburn hair. His grip on his mug tightened. Was Dazai actually telling the truth? Chuuya stood up and slammed down his mug, brushed off the creases and wrinkles from his expensive 2 piece suit and grabbed his hat (the one Verlaine gave him) hanging from the rack.

Only one way to find out…

────୨ৎ────

Large tinted bullet-proof glass doors swung open as the gravity manipulator led his way through the lobby.

A row of guards stood to attention. Some, Chuuya noted, was shivering and trembling in fear. Could it be that they heard the assassin King's defeat by Chuuya who was merely in charge of the jewel gem trade?

At this rate, the terror he was producing in the company probably made him a better candidate for the newly opened executive position.
With that, surely he could be executive faster than Dazai.

The lower grunts scrambled as they saw Chuuya’s dangerous smirk.

He strolled up to the elevator and pressed for the highest floor. What was Mori planning? He watched the numbers tick up and the silver elevator doors soon slid open for Chuuya to step out.

Right in front of him was the Boss’s office along with two armed guards stationed outside of the large elegant double doors.

The guard on the right growled in a deep voice trying to appear intimidating.

“Clearance?”
While the other clicked the safety off their gun.
Chuuya smiled easily and shoved his hands in his slack's pockets.
“The boss called for me,” he said.

The guards nodded and moved to open the doors for Chuuya.

Inside he saw Dazai…
what?
Chuuya stopped in his tracks. How come Dazai was here first?

Dazai smirked from his position perched on one of the arms of the plush red chairs Mori’s office has. He was twirling one of his guns with his index finger.

“Oh? Did the chihuahua get angry because I was here first?” Dazai said.

Chuuya all but growled while a crimson red surrounded him.

“O- you little sh-” Chuuya shouted, little minute cracks spread on the carpet floor.

A sudden dark chuckle echoed in the room.
Mori was leaning his chin against his interlocking hands while behind him, Elise was drawing on the wall with crayons scattered all around her.

He was clearly enjoying the scene the duo was displaying and Chuuya immediately stopped and coughed into his hand. He knelt to the ground, taking off his hat and bowed. He was definitely feeling the embarrassment in his cheeks. Damn Dazai for this, he was going to hang him upside down and spin him around when they got back.

Mori waved his hand dismissively and tapped lightly on his desk.

“No worries, Chuuya-kun, no need to feel embarrassed. I only need you to sit down for a moment.” Mori said.

He looked pointedly at the direction of the two loveseats and gestured at Chuuya to stand up.

Chuuya glared at Dazai who smirked at him in return.
“I'll wipe that stupid grin off your face, shitty Dazai..” He grumbled and sat down on the same chair as the brunet so he could look properly at Mori. Dazai poked his shoulder using the butt of his gun,
“I did like to see chibi try~” he whispered.

Mori hummed next to them and produced two colored folders from his desk drawer.
“These contain your mission objectives and undercover stories, as well as emergency plans on every scenario - thanks to Francis’s amazing advisor.” Mori explained as he handed both folders to them.

Next, he pulled out three sheets of paper, he slid them onto the dark mahogany table.
“And these are your mission briefs and the contacts, emails and addresses of the people you might need.” Mori passed the papers to Dazai who nodded.

Mori then clapped his hands, startling Chuuya as the clap echoed throughout the room.
“Dazai-kun, Chuuya-kun, your mission is to infiltrate the so-called ‘The Mist Statues’ in Manhattan and New Rome in America. Both of you are to gather information on the mysterious organization and defeat them, using the chaos of the giant war as an advantage. I will send you to Camp-Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter. Please don't disappoint me, Hirotsu will pick you up to the airport at 5:10 a.m sunrise. ”

Chuuya blinked in surprise.
Camp Half Blood. The world of Demigods, one which was never really heard of. A legend, myth and a bedtime story.
“An undercover mission with Dazai?”
Mori smiled slyly and nodded.
“It should only take at least 5 and a half months.”
Chuuya's fist tightened on his phone in his pocket. 6 months in a foreign country with Dazai?!

Speaking of the Devil, Dazai piped up
“6 months with a slug?- That's soo boringg!!”
Chuuya hissed and jabbed his elbow into Dazai's rib cage.
“Stop calling me a slug, you damn bastard!” And Dazai flailed dramatically from pain and landed on the floor and he yelped and smiled.

“So Chuuya doesn't think I'm boring? Uwahh!! You're the best doggy ever!” Chuuya's eye twitched and he threw his phone at the ground right next to Dazai.
“You- you're twisting my words you- fucking -mackerel!” he spat.

Dazai didn't flinch but he clamped his mouth shut. An awkward silence filled between the duo until Mori chuckled again, ending their staring contest. He flicked a hand at Elise who skipped over, carrying a dust pan and a sweeper stored in one of Mori's many drawers.

“Oh, and before I forget, Tachihara-kun will be your informer for this mission.”

────୨ৎ────

A knock sounded three times in an intricate pattern, disturbing Chuuya from his ‘holiday’ packing. Swearing, the boy stormed out of his small bedroom to reach the front door at the end of the hallway. Chuuya pulled at the two complicated bolts, then at the locks and defenses before finally undoing the chain at the door.

He pushed the key into the door knob and twisted open the wooden door, there stood with an annoyed frown was the O’ Great Demon Prodigy of The Port Mafia.

“What took you so long.” Dazai said. But it wasn't a question, in fact, it was a demand. Chuuya rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

Dazai scrunched his eyebrows together as he waltzed past Chuuya into the apartment.
“So, this is where my dog lives,” he remarked as he stared in disdain around the apartment, pausing at the wine cabinet next to the kitchen island.

“A wine cabinet really chibi? You're more of an alcoholic than I thought!” Dazai teased as he jumped onto the kitchen counter. Chuuya groaned and rubbed his hand over his face.

“Just because I like drinking wine doesn't mean I am an alcoholic! What are you doing here anyways?” Chuuya exclaimed, frustrated.

Dazai's wide doe eye blinked at him before narrowing. He then smiled mischievously, grabbing something deep within the oversized coat. Chuuya's curiosity got the better of him and he walked closer.

The taller brunet fished something out from the folds of his coat then held out his hand, in it were two carefully crafted pins.
A blue type of fish and an orange dog wearing a porkpie hat.

It was a mackerel and a chihuahua, it was them wasn't it? Chuuya thought as he reached out and played with them.

He slowly raised his head to Dazai who, for once had a dazed and meltly look on his face like he was experiencing the sun for the first time.

(His first time experiencing the sun resulted in a yelling match from his mother and the rest of his day spent locked in his room. But Chuuya doesn't need to know that)

Chuuya frowned at the weird expression.
“What you are looking at jackass!!” he grumbled. A flash of bewilderment slashed across the Port Mafia's black wraith but was quickly replaced by a numb blank look as if nothing happened.

He sneered down at Chuuya, changing the subject.
Whatever, look I got us matching tracker pins, Chuuya should thank his lovely master!” Dazai had an undetectable tone to his voice sounding too much like hatred or fondness. But Dazai couldn't possibly be fond since he couldn't even express gratitude, Chuuya mulled over his thoughts.

He looked down at Dazai's outstretched hand and at the colourful pins.
The decision was already decided from the start, picking up the orange pin chuuya slid it into the pocket of his slacks. Dazai then closed his palm with a smirk and exited the apartment with his black sullen cloak flapping behind him.

Tch, main character moment…

────୨ৎ────
Dazai stepped out of the threshold of Chuuya's apartment holding a bottle of tightly noosed ‘98 wine. He laughed lightly and continued on his way.

────୨ৎ────
Time: 5:57 am _
A gaggle of excited exchange school students talked animatedly while walking in a large group, their suitcase trolleys filled to the brim.

A lone bearded man smoked along the corridor holding a sign saying ‘ MR. CAM LAM ’ he was probably waiting for his customer to arrive.

Lots of citizens hustled and buzzed, carrying lots of different variations of umbrellas. They were all either in a hurry or were chatting and walking to their destination.

Chuuya stood in front of the busy airport in wonder, holding the handle of his luggage with his black armed backpack sitting on top.

“Slug.” A dark figure appeared beside him.
“Hm?” He replied.
“Hurry up! We're gonna miss our flight!” Dazai whined and threw his hands up in the air with flourish. Chuuya zoned back into the present and jabbed his elbow into Dazai's ribs, prompting a dramatic yell of pain.

“Whatever, let's go.” Chuuya strolled into the entrance that stood in front of him. A blast of warm air hit him and quickly as sudden as it appeared, disappeared. The once muffled buzzing of citizens from different nations became distinctly louder once he stepped through the automatic double doors.

Chuuya stared up at the gigantic white ceiling and suddenly felt as small as an ant. Could he- they actually finished this mission? Could he avenge the flags and become an executive?

“Chuuuuuuuuuyaaaaaaaaaa! C’mon! Why are you standing like a sombre philosopher?!?” Dazai tugged at his hand and led the way to their check-in counter.

The duo both headed to sector B for ‘Pacific Airlines’. Dazai headed up to the front desk and smiled flirtatiously at the young black-haired woman.

“Excuse us, it's our first time fl……”

A couple of minutes later… (because Raven does not have the heart to write airport scenes)

“All done, thank you for flying with us!” the woman politely bowed, then she gestured with her left hand at the security checks.

“Please continue at the security checks, thank you.”

Chuuya hurriedly followed Dazai along the wide stretch of the airport. He tapped lightly against the shoulder of Dazai's oversized black t-shirt with bright yellow coloured bold words of ‘NIRVANA’ written across. He was careful not to make sudden moves as Dazai was surprisingly* good at self defense. (He had first hand experience *)

“Mackerel, what's the plan? I've heard that those Security checks can detect weapons..”
Dazai glanced back at him with a slight smirk.
“Oh hatrack, you truly are dumb aren't you?”
Chuuya blinked once, twice.
“HAHhh?! What are you implying?! I was just asking a genuine question !!”

Dazai sneered with a ‘hmph-’ sound then helpfully (rudely) pointed at the tall white machine-like structures they could see through the gap of the green frosted glass -with a bandaged hand.

“Those structures are made by an ability user company called ‘Checkered up’ , they specialize in providing security checks to airports and government agencies.” He then lowered his hand to the security guards standing at the side.
“Those guards basically do nothing, since the machine detects weapons and threats. They are only there for show or for additional measures. Otherwise we don't have to do anything!”

He turned to face Chuuya and smiled nimbly. (Not a real smile obviously !)

“You have to do nothing, just be on guard in case of an emergency, just like a dog!”
Chuuya groaned and rubbed his face. He.was.not.a.dog! Dammit.
“Anyways, I only need to disable the ability product so the workers won't be able to detect anything. Easy.” he finished.

The brunet then dramatically pulled a sharp pocket knife out behind his left ear. Chuuya deadpanned at him. He then pulled several small guns from his belt and a plastic bag of deadly poison from his jeans. Then two knives from the heel of his black boots. Four metal needles from his messy curly hair, a black disk and three ninja stars from the folds of his bandages. An uncompleted bomb from underneath his shirt and a couple of bronze bullets from his wrist bandages. Lastly, one blade from his socks and two sharp microscopic fake lashes under his real eyelashes.

Seriously? Such a showoff.

Making a point to dump it all in Chuuya's bag, Dazai swiftly strolled forward to the line forming behind the checks. Chuuya followed behind Dazai, carrying his bag.

He looked at the expanse of people queuing for such a simple machine and wondered, how do ordinary people act so carefree, without knowing that there were two port mafia almost-executives among them about to defeat an dangerous unknown organization.

The thought was almost funny. Almost.

Alas, they have reached the source of the people, all packed like sardines. (or mackerels if you wanted a pun). Several large matte-white machines sat on the side
of the baggage checks. They were the so-called ability-made weapon detectors.

The couple in front of double black diverged from the queue, then laid their backpacks with their jackets onto the grey plastic trays on the conveyor belt. They soon made way to the white machines and stepped through. Nothing happened, no loud blaring alarm, no red lights and no sudden people made to stop them. They just picked up their things and went.

Huh, it was this easy?
Dazai walked to the very front of the line
to deposit his belongings and went straight through the security check , making sure to tap the inside wall deliberately. Immediately canceling the hard worked ability-made structure.

Following behind him Chuuya set down his armored bag on the plastic tray, taking off his hat and dark red jacket to put beside it. The machine didn't even blink from green when he stumbled through.

Oh thank the gods, the bastard's plan actually worked.

Chuuya gathered his things and followed a smirking dazai with the expression of ‘I knew it’.

────୨ৎ────

A phone got shoved in his face, its bright blue light made him blink a couple of times before focusing.

“Mori sent us something, it's our backstories.” The tone of disgust was evident in his voice. Curiosity bloomed from Chuuya's mind. Was it really that bad?...

He squinted at the small screen in front of him.

A laugh instantly bursted out of his chest, one hand on his knee and another clutching his stomach.

“Hah- ! N- no way! Shy? Ha!” Chuuya laughed till his stomach cramped. Dazai, sitting opposite him , frowned and pouted.
(Like a cat)
“He- hey! I can be shy too!” The brunet defended himself but the protest fell upon deaf ears. Dazai groaned, slumping over the back of the chair. After letting his partner laugh for a few more minutes, he retaliated, making a jab at his ginormous ego.
“Say for yourself! How can someone so short be outgoing AND friendly?!” the bouts of laughter suddenly stopped. Sweat trickled down his forehead, a sharp red glare focused on him. Dazai whistled at the tense silence, then tugged at his collar.

Turning around slowly like he was being interrogated, hands slowly slid up.
“Hah- ha. Chuuya, I really REALLY DID NOT MEAN THAT. WAIT, PLEAS-” The angry redhead immediately lashed out to grip his collar. Being pulled tightly, Dazai gulped and grabbed onto Chuuya's wrists. “No no! Please don't, CHUUYA-”

A small whimper cut through and into the atmosphere. Yeah, that's it. His life is officially over, let Mori-san retrieve his corpse to burn. Let the ground swallow him up please, I don't want to live. These four thoughts flashed as he saw his life fly before his eyes.

“I was only joking…” he finished. That one drop of sweat hit the ground , sounding like the avalanche of his quickly crumbling heart. The sound echoed like a pin drop. Yeah, that’s it. Goodbye life and Hello Death…

Chuuya let go of him in shock, his face the colour of a rose. A column of heat rushed up his neck and the tips of his ears turned red.
“What the fuck, Dazai?!” Chuuya shoved him away, letting him hit the handle bar of his chair and hearing that satisfying scream of “Ow!”.
“You, Are so random! Why would you do that!” He exclaimed with a feral growl.
Dazai rubbed his elbow and looked at anywhere but chuuya. His whole body was screaming red , so he mumbled,
“it's not my fault , you were the one who-”. The redhead pinched the brow of his nose.
“Stop saying that, I don't want to hear it.” he rose from his seat, stomping to the bathroom.

────୨ৎ────

A while later…

After Chuuya emerged from the restroom , there was immediately a pregnant silence between the two partners.

In which Dazai broke within the first few minutes of scrolling through his phone.
“Ne Chuuya, what Harry Potter House would I be in?”
…..
The sudden question brought the redhead back to reality, lost in his thoughts once again. Does that really matter? That specific thought swam around his head like Koi fish.

“... Sytherian.”

‘Cause he is cunning, smart and evil. The title Demon Prodigy really fits him after all.

But-

“Chuuya! That, is so mean! Shouldn't I be in Ravenclaw? I am really smart you know~” Dazai whined and posed dramatically, catching a snicker from a passerby.

Idiot.

Putting up his hood , Chuuya pinched his brow. Tired of Dazai's antics and tired because of his terrible nightmares the day before. Waving his hand flippantly, he ignored him and closed his eyes.

Plop.

A pale lime green hoodie, soft red hair sprayed across his shoulders, gentle snoring. Chuuya fell asleep on Dazai's shoulder.

There was a sudden click in the switch of Dazai's mind, he slouched down, shoulders curling in, expression blank and knees up.

“This is so unfair, you look so peaceful, so full of life. I'm sitting here feeling like a stain on a Greek marble statue. I want to die Chuuya. I want to die so badly.”

────୨ৎ────
Time: 7:09 am_

“BOARDING ANNOUNCEMENT: Flight C8914 is now boarding at gate C5”

The faint voice of the speaker floated into Chuuya's void, and the small ringing sound started up again.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

There was a startling red glow admitting from the core and pulses of rings vibrated throughout like ripples.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
The boy groaned.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

“Wake up Chuuya, they're boarding the plane!”

“WAKE UP!”

……

Peach coloured light, a high concentration of red, flickering of eyelashes.

Chuuya Nakahara woke up with no recollection of his dreams.

Once, twice there was an attempt to open the sticky eyelids. Chuuya raised his hand to rub out the residue gluing his skin together. Somehow, it always happened whenever he fell into a deep sleep.

Rubbing his eyes to get rid of the uncomfortable substance, Chuuya weary blinked at his brown-haired companion.

“Mhm- afternoon?” he mumbled, confused at the interruption. Dazai side eyed the people around them then letting out a heavy sigh, pulled the ginger up to a standing position. He swayed for a moment before straightening.
“It's not afternoon by the way. It's morning.” The brunet corrected, always being technical. Chuuya yawned and rolled his eyes. Same thing.

“You're making us late by being such a slug, hurry up.” Dazai complained and dragged the still-sleeping body of the redhead. The line wasn't even that long yet! He's not a slug!
“Wait, wait! Let me grab the bag first!” Chuuya resisted against the pull and quickly scooped up his armored bag, jolting the dazai's weapons in it. Let's hope that the bomb doesn't blow up. It would be really unfortunate if that happened.

They stood in front of the attendant who was checking their passports. Chuuya nervously wiped his hands on his black jeans. Hopefully, the woman wouldn't notice the forging. Glancing at his brown-haired partner, he forced his muscles to relax and calm down.

“Thank you for choosing to fly with Pacific Airlines, please enjoy your flight” a voice pierced through the turmoil of his thoughts, startling him. Right. He lifted his right foot, shaking with adrenaline and pure exhaustion and walked down the carpeted ramp to the airplane. Leaving Dazai to collect their passports.

Reaching the line of people gathered, Chuuya stopped and waited for Dazai. He had never been on a plane before, well technically he has but he never did it the normal way. Like a civilian.
Waiting for Dazai was second nature, especially when handling tricky missions. He always waited for the mackerel, to ensure one of them wouldn't fall behind or get injured. It was tactical, it was safe.

“Heh, Chuuya. Your hair looks horrible.” Dazai sounded to his right, making an absolute asshole of himself. Lifting a hand to his ginger hair, Chuuya's pupil widened in shock. It was matted and greasy. No no no NO.

Chuuya cried out and pointed an accusing index finger at Dazai.
“You little shit! You did this!”
Dazai gasped and tried to suppress his arrogant smirk.
Me?! ” He lifted up his hands in mock surrender. Urging Chuuya on.
“Yes, you! Oh my gods! Now it's horrible!” Chuuya groaned while hiding his face behind his hands. Dazai smiled slyly, dropping his arms down onto Chuuya's shoulders. Prompting a surprised yelp and an irritated growl.
“Don't worry your tiny head about it, my silly little slug! I have just the perfect solution.” Sing-songed Dazai.
He stared suspiciously at him, looking intensely at the microfeatures of his face. Cataloguing every single tiny detail and storing it into the file in his brain.

“F- fine. What is it?” He decided the boy wasn't lying and he didn't need to suspect him of cruel pranks. Dazai turned Chuuya around and rummaged through the bag. Rustling and rattling, he pulled out a-
“Hairbrush and a spray? When did you have that?” Was the guy secretly a hairdresser?
“Just because I live in a shipping container, does not mean I can't take care of myself.” He explained his justified reason.

As if. Chuuya had seen the scars, dirt and bandages, the boy harboured. No way, his sorry ass could take care of himself.

The line in front of the duo moved, dragging them along with it. Chuuya forcefully tugged at Dazai, causing him to stumble. A hot-white pain shot from his wrist- enclosed by Chuuya's hard grip- and travelled up the length of his arm.

CRACK

The redhead's hand pulled down suddenly.
“Dazai, what the f-” his eyes travelled down, down and down.
At Dazai, clutching his swollen wrist. A bruised bright red. Dark hair hung around his face, obscuring it from public view. The hairbrush and spray bottle rolled out to the edges of the corridor.

The people behind yelled at them to hurry up but Chuuya's focus wasn't on them. It was on his partner.
Holy shit, he broke-
Feeling his knees hit the floor beside the bandaged boy, Chuuya fell hard on the ground next to him.
Quick, Chuuya think!

””Chuuya, remember this lesson.
Whenever a day comes and you or your partner is in danger. Think quickly, use the resources you have. Stay alert, don't fall behind. Remember Chuuya, I am not hurting you. I am teaching you. I am helping you.” The red haired boy shrank away from the raven haired man, backing into a corner.
“Nghh- it hurts! S- stop it!” The man wearing the blood red scarf simply smiled and flicked the switch higher on the device.”

Spurts of electric charge shook his nerves but Chuuya trusted his brain. His training.
His eyes darted around the surroundings, to the tiles of the floor, to the car shaped children's luggage, and to the bandages wound around Dazai's smarts and scars.

All of this took 3 seconds, as Chuuya unwrapped the cloth circling the skin and unpinning the tucked in parts. 7 seconds in, the teen harshly grabbed the injured wrist and wrapped the bandage tight. Taking extra measures and tugging it until Dazai's hand flinched. Not a super neat knot at the end but it would do, he thought.

16 seconds, the people were growing impatient and confused. No doubt because of the time taken and the barrier the slug made to shield Dazai.

“Get up, don't waste time.” the brunet was carefully supported up. The pain was not great but it was bearable until the adrenaline ran out. While taking small steps in order to not jolt the boy’s arm too much, the gravity manipulator took off his inner thin pale red shirt- his hoodie discarded and put round his waist, leaving only a yellowed white undershirt, worn but still in a good condition.

To make a makeshift sling, he had to fold it into a triangle - well a wobbly one- and draped it over Dazai's shoulder. Using the excess fabric to slip it between the arm and the chest and creating a V-shape to tie the two ends of the shirt over the side of the neck. It wasn't as good as the slings he had made before but it should hold before they receive actual medical attention. (Which would be hard considering Dazai's impenetrable fear of doctors.)

The two hobbled to the entrance of the sleek plane; they then waved away the concerned flight attendant. Their seats were on the left hand side of the plane, closest to the window and the middle seat.
Making Dazai sit down on the window seat, Chuuya let his weight pull him down onto his.

Phew. Chuuya tentatively glanced at Dazai who was staring numbly at the TV screen. He rubbed his knuckles against his fingers and tapped his foot multiple times, then stopped. Sighing, he said.
“Hey, mackerel. You okay?” The teen in question didn't react for a moment but then slumped and leaned his forehead to his partner's shoulders.
“Worrying isn't a good look on you, you need to learn how to control your strength sometimes. I don't want a rabid dog, if I did I would ruin them.” He replied in an unnaturally quiet voice.

Chuuya shifted uncomfortably and rubbed his head.
“Look, you don't have to talk if you don't want to. I am sorry for br- breaking your wrist. Just go to sleep, you sound fucking exhausted. Tell me about your plan when you wake up.”

Dazai lifted his head up and studied him, looking for a genuine expression. Once he deemed Chuuya was actually sorry, he curled into himself. In a moment's time, he was already asleep like a military soldier.

Shivering, Chuuya tore open the package of blankets provided for the journey. He tossed one onto the lanky form of his partner and wrapped one around himself. (Like a burrito)

There was going to be at least 30 minutes before take off started so Chuuya started detangling his messy hair.

Time: 8:54 am ( Japanese Timezone)
Weather: stormy

Hm- hum~

The telltale sound of the attendant's speaker rings out.
“....Expecting turbulence..seatbelt…arriving at 6:05 am tomorrow..”

Chuuya felt movement from the lump beside him, a sign telling him Dazai is stirring.
“Hmm? Chuu..” The brunet's eyes snapped wide open, instantly awake.

A flash of lightning and a few seconds later, the roar of thunder. A certain god must be angry…

“Lucid enough to share your plan with the land of the living yet?” he remarked smugly at the blinking boy. Dazai frowned at the hastily made sling and adjusted it tighter. Chuuya scoffed at the blatant annoyance, nudging with his elbow.

“...Well, firstly we need a satyr to find you.”
The fuck is a satyr?
The dark haired boy sighed looking at the confusion.
“A satyr is a half goat half man. They are mainly used as protectors and locators of half-bloods, which you and I are going to be pretending.” Dazai explained.
“Wait- so, these satyrs are going to lead us to the camp?” Dazai pinched the bridge of his nose and tsked.
No- ugh- have you not read the mission briefs? Oh I forgot, you barely know how to read. Only the Greek camp uses satyrs, the Roman camp is much stricter. I would have to get through Lupa first so my mission is more difficult.”

The redhead opened his mouth to defend himself but closed it again after letting it hang for a few seconds.
“Lupa?” he asked.
Dazai slammed his head backwards on the seat. His irritation rising due to the horrid pain in his right wrist.
“For gods’ sake, Lupa is a wolf. She trains all new demigods who are brought to her to see which ones are strong enough and leads them to the camp.” he gritted out.
Geez, he didn't have to make him sound so dumb.

“So what do we need to prepare for it?” he mumbled the question into existence. Dazai hummed in acknowledgement and stretched his left hand up to play with the headrest cover. Wincing at the throbbing pain of his injured right wrist he said,

“You know that one ability user we made an alliance with a couple of months ago? Her name's Emile Goldenheart and after discovering a new skill, her ability- flowers out of bloom- does she offered her help for this mission.

When she found out her flowers can make different scents. Mori said it was useful and commissioned her, that's why we have to switch flights….since her headquarters is in England.” Dazai groaned and flopped his hand down, covering his face.

Another rumble of thunder and the whole plane jolted, there was a desperate fumble of noise.

Hm- hum~

“Apologies for the sudden windy storm, this is a reminder to buckle your seatbelt in case you haven't. Thank you.”

Zeus knows, Zeus knows and he isn't happy about it.

Time: 6:36 am (England Timezone)
Weather: After the rain…

Chuuya yawned and stretched all eight of his limbs like a cat, arching his back. He breathed in the fresh air, ( being stuck in a plane for so long did not do him justice) noting down that the air seemed more refreshing, like the Japanese air was more stuffy?

“Slug.” A dark figure appeared beside him. Chuuya glanced at Dazai at the corner of his eye.

“Hmm?” He replied, distracted by the cars rushing past them. There were lots of potholes in the ground. That looked like a hazard, what if someone was on an electric scooter, didn't notice the hole because they thought it was a puddle and broke their jaw?

That sounded too specific…

Anyway, Chuuya looked out for a black Sedan which was going to be their ride to HQ.

“You are so kind!”

“Huh?! What?”

“Such a good doggy! Looking out for his owner!”

“Pfft- what ever made you think that?”

“You were looking at the potholes! Obviously assessing the level of danger if I were to fall in, awh!”

“Tch, I would do nothing for you. Except maybe push you into one.”

With a quick movement, Chuuya pushed the bandaged boy out onto the road making him stumble on a pothole and fall-

-On top of the wet ground…

VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
A black sedan suddenly braked, splashing rainwater on the pedestrian road and the street.

“Hey! Hey! Are you okay? Did we hit you?” a deep voice rasped in panic. Chuuya smirked at the sorry sight, Dazai drenched head to toe on the asphalt ground with his sling. Like a burnt black cat.

The man was dressed in formal attire, black suit, black sunglasses, black shoes and gelled-back hair. It was safe to assume that this was their ride. The bodyguard heaved up Dazai, supporting him with a hand under his shoulder. He was also taking extra care while walking with him, looking at the sling.

Uhh- weird, Chuuya thought with unsure mixed emotions. He ignored the said feelings and locked it in his mental chest along with his other worries. Suppressing it.
He slid into the car and closed the door, nodding to the chauffeur.

Moments later, Dazai also climbed into the black car with the bodyguard guiding him. Chuuya immediately glared at the black coat sitting on top of the brunet's back. It wasn't his, it wasn't Chuuya's, it was the man's. When the guard slid and slammed the door shut. Waiting for the moment, the ginger pounced on Dazai. Dragging the wretched wet coat off him and dumping it on the carpet floor.

He wiped his hands on his jeans and threw a look at his partner.
“You shouldn't have accepted his coat.”
Dazai lifted his head up, smirking.
“Oo- oh is the chibi jealous?”
Chuuya flusteredly said,
“No! You knew what he meant! Shouldn't I be worried if a man, who at first glance is MUCH older than you, wants to get you into his bed?”
Dazai rolled his eyes and picked at the fabric of the seat with his free hand.
“Whatever, I am used to it. Besides, it was for some fun either way.” He waved his hand and slumped his head on the armrest.

The shorter teen squirmed in his seat opting to look out the window before saying,

“Just know that you don't have to listen to Mori when he orders you to go on missions that include things like that. It's inappropriate for someone our age to do things like that.” The rain had started up again, making cars; buildings and people blur into streaks of colour. An occasional red brushed past from the famous British bus.

But, it was moody and gray. However sometimes if you just let colour filter through it can become much brighter.

“So what? Many 16 year olds also do p*rn and s*x. Why can't I?”

Chuuya fell silent, unsure on how to continue. Because they shouldn't have been exposed to such things? No. That sounds wrong, he pondered.

This quietness danced between them like piano notes on a page, like the slow waltz of a feather on water.

Like always, quietness is broken like a pierce of an arrow or the splatter of paint.
The car stopped at the entrance of a grand building. A closing of metal and the bodyguards opened their doors and let them out.

A couple of assistants opened the trunk for their suitcases and led them to the front.
Chuuya was stunned at the view before him, never had he seen such an imposing AND elegant headquarters. Not even the Port Mafia's could compare!

There was a curved road of sleek stones allowing cars to drop off or pick up quickly, and pots of lovely flowered plants lining the entrance. In front of them was a large revoluting door with two automatic double doors beside it. Guards stood to attention stationed at each escape route and a well lit up sign above them all wrote ‘Goldenheart Corp.’ Then reaching high up were two metal and glass skyscrapers with
a connecting bridge.

It was a mass display of power with its windows looking down and fluttering curtains on higher residential levels along with their fashionable balconies.

He shivered from the sight, hurrying along at a brisk pace. However once they got inside, he was even more blown away.

A glittering waterfall descended from the high ceiling and spouted as a fountain with a magnificent statue above it. Bright chandeliers hung with trillion yen crystals and goose-downed plush sofas sat on rich dark elevated wooden platforms.

Chuuya stepped on the soft carpet floor and gazed in awe around him. Eventually snapping out of it when Dazai laughed out loud. He bristled at the noise and spun around to see…

Dazai, laughing with the same exact bodyguard he had warned about, in his hand held a small piece of paper and a pen.

The guard wrote something down and passed it back to the dark haired teen. He whispered to his ear as he leaned down and Dazai turned a funny red colour. The guard brushed his hand against his waist-

Chuuya clenched his fingers together, a sharp pain on his palm. Not enough to sting with blood, never enough to draw blood. He tsked and turned back around, his face darkening with betrayal. He wouldn't let it show, why should he care about what Dazai does in his free time anyways?

“Emi- Boss told me to send you two up to her office, please follow me.” a soft voice sprung from his left and he looked up.

It was a young woman, about the age of 29 with long light brown hair and a clip. Wearing a silky blue strappy dress and shiny high heels.

She paused and chucked nervously.
“Oh! A- and before I forget, my name is Normie.” she wiped down her dress of any wrinkles. Dazai suddenly appeared to Chuuya's right and he tensed.

Oh great.

────୨ৎ────

Ding!

The silver elevator's doors soon slid open for the three of them to step out, it was quieter here without the murmuring of rich people, workers and machines.

There was a long winding corridor with red carpet and at the end of it was a large deep brown double door leading to what Chuuya assumed was the office.

The woman- Normie pushed open the door for them and carefully stepped inside.
The office was plain compared to the outside with a desk, a couple of couches and floor to ceiling windows.

Sitting behind the dark wooden desk was the said woman. Emile Goldenheart wore a small smile and seemed very authoritative but kind. She looked about the age of 36 with short blond hair in a bob, a deep green beret with feathers, a cream flowing top paired with a green corset and long dress. She also wore a pearl beaded necklace.

Normie rushed over to her side and quickly started wrapping her arms around her. Chuuya realised with a start that they were probably an established couple and his face heated up. He cleared his throat a few times to call on their attention.

“Welcome, you two must be Osamu and Chuuya. Nice to meet you, my my! You both look very nice. Such young beauty!” The blond haired woman complimented them and held out her hand to shake.

He reciprocated the gesture and sat down politely on the edge of a seat (far away from Dazai), waiting for the fishy mackerel to do so too.
“Excuse me, I would very much appreciate it if you were to call me Dazai instead of Osamu.” the boy said.
Emile clapped her hands in excitement.
“Even polite too! I must tell Mori about this too! Thank you Dazai, I have completely forgotten about Japanese customs. Oh dear, Chuuya sweetheart. Would you like to be called Nakahara then?” She spoke exquisitely.

Chuuya huffed and shook his head. He would normally say it out loud but he was just too tired to do so.

“Okay let me get straight to the point. Normie, love can you go get me that box over there? Yes, that one. Thanks.”

She showed them a black box with a gold rose logo stamped on the front and opened it. Inside was a petit jar of ointment labelled ‘OSAMU DAZAI’ cushioned by black velvet.

“This is for you Dazai, Mori especially mentioned you have a nullification ability. The only one in the world! I have made some changes to the flowers so that its formula can bypass your skill. Just remember to rub the cream on your wrists and neck every 5 days.” She explained carefully with excitement building.

Emile turned to Chuuya and ushered him forward, a light devious smile gracing her lips.

“Come forward, your senses may be overwhelmed for a few seconds but it will be as right as rain.” Emile commanded and held out her hands. Chuuya stood up, walking over with a slight lag, blame the jet lag not him! Taking a breath, he awkwardly stared at his hands. Seemingly not knowing what to do. Emile smiled in fondness, clasping his hands in hers and spoke,

Flowers Out Of Bloom” in a whisper, bright purple light bursted out of her hands in a fury. A floral rich scent spread across the air in a few seconds and Chuuya felt a small change in his senses. Nothing overwhelming like Emile said but still quite strong. There really isn't a word to describe the feeling, the closest adjective to it could be fluttery.

Quickly the light flashed out and the smell receded slowly, lingering at the edges. Fraying.
The unspoken uncomfortable feeling was there, never leaving or increasing. He wriggled a bit, testing. His hands were returned to his sides and the procedure ended.

“So? How are you feeling?” the woman asked. Chuuya shrugged and sat back down, before continuing,
“Mhm, nothing much but there is this weird sense I feel..” trailing off the last few letters. Dazai sat observing the ability exchange with a rapid gaze. The light in Emile's eyes darkened, smile growing dangerously thin.
“Nothing? No overwhelming force? Are you sure that is what you feel? According to my calculations that shouldn't be the case.” She studied Chuuya and wrapped her wrinkled hands around his. A suspicious tingle hovered at the base of his nape, his hair standing up.
“Ah, how about you stay just for a little longer? I do want to understand why this is the case. Is it because of your ability or because of your code?”

A beat, then an aggressively loud clap of a hand echoed throughout the tense silence, travelling out into the air.

There Emile laid scrawled on her own exquisite blood-red carpet floor, her reddened cheek was sharp with the print of a hand. Dazai's hand.

Standing now with his breath heaving, the brunet smiled viciously with pure spite. He wiped his filthy hand on the leather seat with disgust. The woman on the ground paled in shock and terror. Trembling, she raised an ugly pointed fist to him.

“H- How could you..?” She whispered in disbelief. Gaining courage at the quiet Dazai offered, she- now determined, spoke with new fervour.
“Hitting a woman like that.. Do you have no shame?.. Normie!” She cried in a pathetic state of fury. The girl in question was nowhere to be seen, leaving the woman alone. Dazai laughed, a horrible sound emitting from his throat. Landing a particularly harsh kick at her ribs, ending with a crush of her palm with his heel, he answered.

He must have looked insane with his band shirt, shirt-made sling and messed up expression.

“No shame? Why would I have any when you claimed Chuuya wasn't Human? You are wretched, trifling with matters not to your concern. You are naive, thinking what others tell you.
Never had a person infuriated me this much.” He hissed out, ignoring the shout of pain. A hand covered his left shoulder gently.

“Enough. We are leaving, okay? Thank you for your help.” Chuuya, ever so calmly murmured next to Dazai's ear. He glided his hand down to the small area of the boy's back, forcing him to turn away and walk. He pushed open the squeaky heavy wooden doors, surprised at the nimble face of a girl.

Normie stood with heated cheeks and welled up eyes, tears threatening to pour over. She averted her gaze and pressed her curls over her ear.
“Was that true?” she asked in a hurry, stumbling over her words.
“Pardon?”
“Did E- she actually say that? Emile?” with a scared eager voice. Chuuya nodded and gazed over her shoulder, he could feel Dazai practically vibrating with impatience. He tapped out two beats with his fingers, relax. The bandaged boy underneath his finger tips froze- stiffened and went soft.

Funnily enough, the girl seemed more interested than angry at them, like she didn't care for her partner at all…

“Wait, before you go. Would you mind checking out the small diner around the corner? You look like you need some food and they are looking for new customers too.” Normie asked in a hush. Chuuya said yes in confirmation, he was just relieved to get out of the building quickly.

But secretly he knew that Emile was right.

────୨ৎ────

The birds have left their trees and the light bulb flickered on the dirty and washed out tiles of the ceiling. A small chatter buzzed at the edges of the diner, everyone seemed comfortable and loved. With families of regulars laughing and slapping each other on their shoulders. The chefs and waiters went in and out of the kitchen, talking with their friends along the way. A warm hearty smell emerged from the faded windows and a soppy wet mop leaned against the wall- ready to be at use. The tables and chairs were arranged in such a way that no one sat too far away from the others, newspapers were stacked in the corner and strips of fluttering scrap paper with handwritten menus were stuck with sticky tape on the windows, walls and counters.

It created a sense of belonging and community, something Chuuya - who never noticed until now, became afraid of. When did it start? When the sheep betrayed him? When the flags died loving him? When the scientists used and destroyed the innocent little ability amplifier ? All those years back when he first woke up at the cold hard blackened crater, it was something he always yearned for. Even though he didn't know the first thing about himself and was still on his route to finding his own identity.

Stop.

The refreshing air brushed against his face, reminding him where he was and in what position he was in. Right, food.

They were at the entrance of a small diner called ‘Pam's Pan’, which served East Asia dishes.

Huff
Huff
“Doggy, look! They have a Taiwanese menu, do you think I can read it?” Chuuya turned to the mysteriously upbeat voice in irritation.

He sounded like the exact 180 degrees of what he was at Goldenheart Corp.

Dazai held out a paper strip laminated by plastic in front of his forehead, dangling it dangerously.

“Eh?” was the only response he could give. The brunet sighed deeply in fake disappointment. It took a second for it all to click together. He responded to ‘Doggy’...

“I'm NOT your dog!”
“Your answer says otherwise!~”
“Fuck you.”
“Heh~”

“C'mere doggy doggy~” Dazai cooed in a sickly baby voice, standing on the concrete steps with a beckoning motion. Chuuya stood where he was, not moving an inch.
No one spoke for a few silent seconds, intent on seeing the other fail. Then finally Dazai gave in, heading inside to the diner with an eye roll.

Chuuya followed with a sense of triumph and victory. Closing the deep mahogany sliding door smoothly.

They settled down on the table farthest away from everyone, although it wasn't much further as they were positioned quite closely.

“Chibi, the Japanese characters are veryyy similar to Chinese Characters, cause it's just simplified and simplified and even more simplified.”

Chuuya raised a brow, didn't everyone know this already? Why was he telling him this?

“The Taiwanese characters are almost the same as Chinese ones, so if I know Japanese, then in theory I must be able to make out what it says here.” he points at the menu strip with his free hand, squinting at the small messy handwritten list.

The ginger scoffed at the blatant foolishness, he snatched the menu away from Dazai and flagged down the waiter.

“C- can we get a Lulu Rice and a Pad Thai?” He cringed at his own accent on the English words, maybe he really should have practiced more with Kouyou-anesan. The brunet smirked at his terrible pronunciation and said in perfect english,
“Could I have the peach tea with tapioca please? Yes, thank you. That's all.” He spoke flawlessly like he had been born in Britain.

Ugh, showoff.

_
A good while later, their food arrived, after the waiter poured them two cups of tap water, in a few minutes.

A white and dark blue ceramic bowl filled with fluffy white rice, braised pork on one side, half of a boiled egg on top and a garnish of spinach along with sesame seeds pinched above them all was placed on the table with a small thud.

The smell was warm and welcoming, instantly making his stomach grumble in hunger. Grrrrrr.

Dazai peeked over his bowl in slight envy, his own hadn't been served yet and he was hungry too.

Chuuya spooned some rice and pork onto his black textured plastic chopsticks- with its little ridges. Making sure to let out a gasp of enjoyment and happiness at the taste of food to spite his annoying partner.
Dazai whined, kicking him under the table to his shins.

And kicked him again,
And again,
And again.

He slammed the chopsticks down vertically on the rim of the bowl, his appetite gone.
Instead, he took out a metallic spoon from the dark wooden container and deliberately- harshly loaded it with the lulu Rice.
This stupid mackerel!!
Leaning over the table into Dazai's personal space (borderline intrusive!), he squeezed his chin and tilted it up, staring into those black void eyes. Then, with a strong push, he struck the spoon into his awaiting lips.

“..Mhm!!” Dazai yelped in shock and leaned his chair back on two legs. Chuuya let go of his chin and sat back down, satisfied at the destruction he had caused in the brunet's mind.

The younger felt his cheeks heat up in the most embarrassing way, the spoon still shoved in his mouth. Feeling a small pout worm its way onto his face, he pulled the offensive metal out of his mouth, not before licking off the last bits of rice.

“That was so unfair! Chuuya used my brain against me!” He complained, hiding the mere horror of his partner doing such a thing and the stinging sensation of the hand against his sensitive skin. Dazai threw the spoon back at Chuuya, who as always, caught it.

Chuuya stifled a laugh and continued shoveling food into his stomach.

_
Then at last, the pad Thai and the peach tea arrived, with its reddish-pink filter matching each other.

Dazai appreciated the homogenous hue of the colours a lot, since his brain needed a rest, he didn't want to see anymore complex objects.

“I need a new phone.” Chuuya grumbled at the thought of never contacting his friends (?) and the port ever again. He really shouldn't have thrown his phone to the ground, now he had to spend even more money in a foreign country. He walked past Dazai to the device & repair shop down the street, away from the diner ‘Pam's Pan’. They still had an hour to spare before they had to return to Heathrow airport.

“No one told you to smash it~”
“You did.”
“Did not”
“Did”
“Did not”
“Did”
“Did not”
“Did not~”
“Did-”
Dazai let out a sound of satisfaction at the wrong answer and he smiled slyly.
The red head crossed his arms in frustration. Damn it, he got tricked again.

Whatever, he entered the rickety humble store and browsed through the offered selection. He needed something cheap but good enough to still install games and text images. So definitely not the 2006 ones.

A flash of plain light orange caught his eye, a simple coloured burner phone sat amongst the other ordinary devices. Ah, his second favourite colour. Why not?

Fishing the bills out of his hoodie’s pocket, he grabbed the phone and slapped the money on the counter, sufficiently scaring the bored man behind it.

Dazai snickered at the poor shop assistant’s stuttering.
_

Chuuya's finger paused over the screen, anyone else he has missed? Right, the flags and Murase..

<+8145 6XXX, +8145 4XXX… + 4 others are unavailable>

Oh.
They are dead.
He forgot about that.
It's funny how easy it is when someone is no longer part of your life that you still believe they exist.

His heart throbbed and ached at the mention of his dead friends. He should have spent more time with them.

Would the flags be proud of him?

“Let's go chibi, I wanna see the London tower before we leave.”
_

Location: Heathrow airport- terminal 3
Time: 11:32 am

Chuuya ran across the flat, slow moving escalator, his bag bouncing at every step, efficiently hitting his lower back painfully.
That didn't matter though, they were late.

“Last call for Flight BA116 with British Airlines boarding at gate A3”

Damnit! Sliding towards the gate number, Chuuya broke into a sprint. If only Dazai didn't drag them all across London then they didn't have to be late! Even worse, the stupid brunet wounded his injured wrist and they had to go the the ER! His wallet was beginning to look much thinner, and they hadn't even got to America yet! Gods.

The teen in question was lagging behind, his malnourished body begging for him to stop. He was heaving and stopping every 9 seconds, and Chuuya already looked like a ant in the distance. He couldn't even run for everyone's sake! The doctor had wrinkled his nose and creased his forehead when he saw the shirt-sling thing that Dazai was wearing. Doc replaced it with a real sling and gave him a cast and spare bandages. It costed a lot, but hey! He didn't have to pay for it.

“Chuu-ya! Wa- wait!” he yelled, almost face planting onto the sleek cream coloured floor.

The ginger silently raged as he went back to the mackerel.
“We don't have time for this shit!” he spit out, fuming from his ears were smoke.

The two boys settled into their respective seats, both felt like melting and drained. They had just made it in the cusp of time. Relieved and exhausted, Chuuya treated himself to a nice glass of ginger beer. (No, he wasn't allowed wine.)

Its such a shame Mori booked them premium economy class, they were his two most treasured prodigies. His two diamonds, yet they weren't sitting in first class or hell, even a private jet. But to be fair, Chuuya was working in the mafia, what did he expect in the first place?

The steady drill of the jets was comforting, working almost like white noise. Chuuya sank deeper into the barely cushioned seat, playing with the buttons on the side.

Maybe he should watch a film? He leaned over to the small TV screen in front of him, clicking on it until he found one he liked.

A Silent Voice, Chuuya had heard of it before. Apparently, it made people cry only 8 minutes in. He started the movie and dug the provided headphones out of the plastic bag.

Dazai shifted beside him, seemingly bored out of his mind. The bandaged boy, tapped around on the TV screen too. Finding interesting games to play, switching on his mind and using his brain.

The collection of games piled up:
UNO
POKER
FIND IT!
CHESS

The reviews were right.
Chuuya started brawling out of nowhere and jumpscared his partner. It was embarrassing and foolish. And it made Dazai laugh at him for 30 full minutes!
_

Halfway through the flight to New York city, things started to get a little tense. There was a number of incidents that happened during that time period and lasted until the end.

The first one was when the woman sitting next to Chuuya started to get weird.
Like abnormally weird.

A soft brush, too soft to be perverted but to be noticed. The dyed blonde woman sitting next to him ran her fingers against the side of his thigh when picking up her dropped eyeliner.
Chuuya tensed but ignored it, clearing it off as an accident. He shuffled closer to Dazai to avoid it happening again. A few minutes later, the woman raked her red nails over his knee. Almost caressing it.

What the fuck.

Chuuya glared at her wide brown eyes with as much anger as possible. Stay away.
The blonde only tilted her head in confusion and a small light smile graced her red plump lips. The picture of innocence, again the ginger turned away. Convinced the intimation was enough.

It wasn't because just 5 seconds later, the pedophile got bold.
She edged her way closer and slipped her hand to his inner thigh, close to his private parts.
Holy shit.
Chuuya flung her hand away and stood up sharply. Drawing the strict attention of Dazai and the people around them.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” He hissed as he backed away from her. Feeling horrible and disgusting, his skin tingling from the forced touch. The woman smiled still, an uneasy feeling wavered between them. Something was wrong..
The passengers crowding around suddenly dissipated back to their seats, as if nothing was there. Weird.
Dazai looked between them with bitterness, warily staring.
Chuuya felt uncomfortable, hot and stuffy. The presence of the blonde unnerved him, like arahabaki sensed another entity.
Smiling, the woman finally spoke in a raspy voice.

“Oh little god, you still have much to learn.. The elders are watching you, my master, Vold- Hades, knows of your existence. You have been warned, godling.”

A white misty fog lingered and covered the woman. For a second, Chuuya could swear he saw her flicker into another form.
A gruesome ashen face with sunken dark eyes. Stringy hair dangled from the scalp with twisted black horns wrenching their way through her head. Her beautifully manicured red nails grew into tangled dirty claws, dripping with malice her smile stretched and stretched into a deformed shape. A pair of flesh-like wings folded from her back, her blouse was horribly ripped to make space. Then as suddenly as it appeared, it flickered out in a flash.
It was nothing.
Absolutely nothing, Chuuya frowned at the space in front of him.
Why was he standing up?
A small ache throbbed at the temple of his head, like he forgot something.
Dazai was staring at him with amazement and something close to admiration, his eyes lit up with an insane darkness.
Drawing Chuuya's thoughts back to the quote, ‘Evil expects evil from others.’
The ginger glanced back at the woman sitting right to him, she was causally tapping her fingers along to a song blasting from her headphones.
Somehow Chuuya felt the need to swap seats with Dazai who for once compiled with a different kind of eagerness.
His body relaxed as he slouched into his new warm seat by the window, when had he tensed up?

The second incident was much tamer than the first. Although it was still unsettling.

“Ne, Chuuya.. There’s something buzzing around your head” a uncommonly deep throaty voice whispered in his ear. With quick reflexes Chuuya slapped his hand over his ear.
TWRAT
The buzzing stopped as he looked down towards his now stinging left palm. With crooked legs and a black flattened body, a fly lay on his palm- just on the little bump where his index finger started. Eugh, Chuuya quickly rushed to wipe it on his provided napkin, disgusting…
“Ne, Chuuya…It's flying around your hair.” a femme high pitched sound rattled his ear drums.
TWRAT
Another fly wiped on his napkin.
Again, it buzzed.
“Ne, Chuuya-”
TWRAT
Again.
“Ne, Chuu-”

His head buzzed, he became the fly itself.
He was always a fly, wasn't he?

Wow, that egg does look tasty..
What would happen if I lay my eggs there?
No- he wasn't a fl-

Maybe that measly human would eat his eggs.

oh.
Dazai yelled in his ear which was a totally normal colour.
He held a white napkin in his hand.
His hands stung with painful stabs of needles.

He felt his antennas sink back into his auburn hair, wings folding into himself and legs becoming thicker, thicker and more skin coloured.
He was still a fl-
No.
The mist stretched away.

The third incident, also the last one was not much out of the ordinary. It would have been normal if not for one small detail.

“La, la, laaaaaaaa~” Dazai skipped and hopped down the Mafia's gloomy corridors, with his most dearest partner falling in step next to him. Chuuya.

HMMMMMMMMMMM-
His void plused with red, then fading back into the black shade it always had.

“Whatcha sing'n, mysterious fiend of mine?” Chuuya asked filled with curiousity.
Dazai returned with a knowing smile.
“How cruel, you know you're supposed to say ‘friend'.” The brunet pouted and drew his arm around Chuuya, efficiency pulling him closer. He jerked back in annoyance,
“Tchh, as if. Answer the question, fiend.” drawing out the vowels of the word so it sounded like “f-iiieee-nd”.
Dazai smirked properly this time, tapped his cheek.
“If I recall, then I must be singing Starman by David Bowie.”
Hmph, of course. The younger loved songs from the 80s and 70s.

Flickkkkk, flickkk.
The screen glitched again and jumped into the static.
Shhhhhh, the woman in black smiled but made no move to take off her mask. They had been sitting for a while now staring at the TV screen of Chuuya's life.
Dimly, Chuuya wondered what Dazai was doing now. If he still loved listening to David Bowie and Queen.

em>HMMMMMMMMMMM-
His void plused with red, then fading back into the black shade it always had.

Chuuya doesn't dream, never had once in his miserable life.
Surprising that he'd remember this one.
And it was
this only dream, that resulted in the first time Chuuya wouldn't tell Dazai his secret.
(Didn't partners trust each other? Chuuya must have wondered this for at least 500 times and the 501st -final time was when he walked back to his flat after the funeral. It was raining.)

The woman with blonde hair scuttled her way through the plane and into the bathroom. Locking the door behind her, she laughed lightly. Phew, almost caught! She wasn't sure what would've happened to her if the brown haired boy had caught on.

Then, the woman rummaged in her pockets, holding out a fistful of white powder and deposited it into the toilet. A flash, the white powder caught light in midair- turning it into a green flame.

It licked at her black robes as she stood on the seat, in repulse she waved it away. Her sleeves slipping and showing her tattoo. A skull with a snake.
With a loud sound, the toilet flushed and the women disappeared.

BANG
BANG
“Madam!! Please open the door!”

Chuuya was getting sleepy, the flight so far had been quite eventful. He needed to get some sleep anyways. Struggling to keep his eyes open, the ginger looked at Dazai who was sound asleep.
Normally when they were on missions, only one of them would sleep while the other kept watch. Normally that would have been the case but Chuuya was so tired. Nothing bad would happen right? He could sense if most dangers were coming with his enhanced power and there were none. Maybe it was safe.

And with that, the teen fell asleep on his partner's shoulder. In his defense, it helped nullify arahabaki’s screaming which started after that first incident.

Shakily, the plane rumbling woke Chuuya up as it rattled and bounced on the asphalt ground. Tiny vibrations shook, traveling up his body.
Pushing up the window with tired hands, the afternoon sun penetrated through the thick glass and lit up the cabin.
That's it. They were finally in America, the land of the free. Funnily enough.. It didn't seem free at all, Chuuya thought.

Beside him, Dazai was already up and rushing to recline the seat back up to it's original position. Chuuya toed his bag underneath the seat with his boots, he should probably tie his shoelaces again.

Chuuya! Look over to the other seat.

Arahaba-?

shush!! Don't talk to me >:(

Seriously? You're acting like a baby.

He peered over to the seat and his eyes widened in shock. Where did the woman go? Slowly, he glanced at Dazai who was watching him with an eyebrow raised.

What?

“Where did that woman go?” He asked.
Dazai smiled and shrugged, tapping his fingers against the hand rest.

I'll tell you later.

His gaze stayed fixed on the other boy, challenging him. Dazai levelled his stare back as he twitched his mouth.

“ I said , I will tell you later.” Dazai spoke with a tint of tension in his strained voice. He swiped up his phone and started typing furiously. Then, his face did a whole 180° , lighting up with a small smile.

“ Who put a stick up your ass?” Chuuya retorted in a similar manner. The brunet rolled his eyes just as the plane's wheels rolled down to the parking area. There was a small jolt in the air, like it was charged with electricty. Colossal, dark and overwhelming, thickly woven thunderclouds rolled across the New York sky in defiance.

“Demeter, please stop fidgeting with your hands.” A flash of lighting lit up the council room and the sky again.
Heaving, Zeus clenched his fists tighter as the tension rose higher and higher. It was almost papule. With a calming but fierce expression, Hera pressed her palm down at his shoulder. Instantly deflating the tense god.

Demeter quickly sat on her hands, terrified at the thought of facing an angry Zeus.
“What are we doing? Letting these fake demigods step foot on our land?” rumbled Ares, eyes flashing with red. His throne blared war trumpet sounds and weapons clashed together as they sprouted from the ground.
Hephaestus who was sitting across from him, scoffed. Stiffly, Athena stood up, her helmet materialising from thin air, wrapping around her head and gently fixing her hair.

“I suggest we do something about this, send someone to keep an eye on them. We don't know what their appearance is but it should be simple enough to identify them.” She started, looking at Hecate for support, thunder rumbled.
“I agree, we can locate these Japanese ability users using the amount of power they have around them. The aura they give out are truly the most strongest out of every being…” the goddess of crossroads scrunched up her nose - already smelling the vile scent mentioned in her statement.
Hermes chuckled, his shoes fluttering with hyped energy.
“Should I send a message to Hades? Those Furies of his are quite useful, oh! Remember that little fellow, Perseus Jackson- his name was.. He was the only one who ever defeated a Fury, surely these ability- users are not as powerful?”
As Hermes spoke, all around the rest of the council began nodding their heads one by one until Zeus coughed.
The god of thunder had a small pink tint to his cheeks, embarrassed by being outsmarted and angry at something so tiny.
“Yes yes, do your bit Hermes. I'll handle the rest.” He ordered, trying to keep his dignity attached. Then, the static in the air was not held back any longer, it filled the atmosphere suffocatingly.
The ensembled Greek gods all clutched their heads, glitching suddenly in quick spasms.

“Erughhhh-” Stretching, Aphrodite's pink crop top became a classic white roman gown with golden laurels motifs. Her hair bounced and straightened into a sleek brown colour, nose extended and rose higher. Plush cheekbones became more defined and rosy as her skin turned darker into bronze. Every inch of her was becoming ‘Roman', her ‘Venus’-other appearing more and more each second.

Surrounding her, all the other gods blinked into their Roman selves- except for a few gods deemed unimportant for the Romans dozens of thousands million years ago.
A split second flash, and the gods returned to their normal forms.

Apollo groaned in pain and sat back down on his throne, Dionysus clicked his hand for a glass- quickly filling to the brim with red wine. But with a pause, realisation sparked in his eyes and the wine turned to diet cherry coke. He then sighed too. Commanding the room, Zeus cleared his throat.

“Ah- ahem, remember. We tell no one of this.”

Hera glanced to her hands, contemplating with a serious frown.
“You may go.”

Bones crunched beneath the ginger's boot, his heel twisting harder into the scalp. There was an attempt at escaping but Chuuya was stronger and overcame the creature. Bright red covered the pair, slowly with the intent of torture, gravity thickened into a pressurised forcefield. Drooping down and painting the alleyway's ground dark red, blood landed with a spray.

Alone leaning against the wall, blocking the enterance was Dazai, looking as neat and unfazed as ever, his messy hair fell effortlessly over his ears and forehead. Black shirt standing stark against the light backdrop of the wall and arms crossed with a multitude of bracelets and bandages. Typing into the phone without a care in the world for what was happening beside him, like it was a daily occurrence. His long legs pushed the opposite wall in a relaxed manner. Down by the dirty ground his hospital issued sling lay smushed with moldy containers of rotten food. As he claimed ‘it was too noticeable! Chuuuyaaa’

The teen mentioned was brushing his hands off and wiping his boots onto the ground, streaks of red colouring the dark floor. He lifted the creature by it's hair and wrinkled his nose in disgust, a foul dead smell penetrated the air. Quivering from the weight, his biceps trembled.

“-zai what do I do with this?”
The brunet finally tucked away his phone and looked at Chuuya.
“Hmm? Didn't catch what you said, I was texting Sura .”
Chuuya's face soured at the name, his frown deepened and shoulders tensed.
“What do I do with this.”
A mischievous smirk wormed it's way onto the younger's face, with a devious tilt of his head, Dazai pointed to a dishevelled cardboard box at the corner of the closed off alleyway.
A cardboard box?
Looking closer, Chuuya noticed the label sticking on the cover.

THE GODS
Mount Olympus
600th floor
Empire State Building
New York, NY

“Wait… you're not seriously gonna to…”
But it was already too late, Dazai had picked up the box and scribbled over it in black ballpoint pen like a child.

Yours truly,
the so called
‘Japanese Ability Users'

He sighed but relented, nothing can stop Dazai once he had made up his mind. He knew that from experience…
“Need me to do anything?”
The demon prodigy nodded to the creature they had desecrated and beaten up.
“Give me the head and wings. Tug them off before the whole thing dies completely.”

And with that, he turned away to ‘decorate' the delivery box. He twisted around on the heels of his feet, staring at the misshapened thing. What was it anyway?
Aiming a kick and landing it, Chuuya first poked and prodded at the wings producing from it's back. Red feathers tickling his hand as he searched for the beginning of the wing line. (Wing line? That's what it is called right? Like hairline?)

Finding it, he carefully placed his hands over both edges and pulled.
Huffing breaths turned into horrifying screams and yells.

“Yo- Argh! W- will regret THIS!!! AHHHHHH - uaghh!”
It screamed.
Terrified, Chuuya clamed a hand down on it's mouth. Cold sweat broke out of his back, soaking his white off-coloured sleeveless shirt.

“Oh shit, shit, what did I do? Dazai! Did anyone hear that-.. I-”
He heard a small airy laugh from his behind, Dazai smiled. Failing not to laugh.

“Chibi, this is New York not Yokohama, you really think they care?” he smiled bitterly, eyes darkening.

Oh. Well, in that case.

He slammed his boots down on the creature and tugged with all his might. Ignoring the screams and yells of torture soon to come, a large heavy grin spread across his face.

RIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Huge firy wings tore off the creature, blood spraying everywhere. Groans of pain emitted from it, numbness spread as it's nervous system panicked. It fainted with a losing vision, spit and blood drooling from it's stretched out mouth. Chuuya barked a laugh, feeling the adrenaline pulsing through his veins. It was accidicting, refreshing and pleasurable. Definitely worth it.

Dazai picked the gigantic wings and folded them into the box, stuffing it in brutally.
Without wasting time, Chuuya fished out the knife he always kept in his pocket, increasing the gravity on it. Then there was a wet squelch as he diverted the gravity around the head and-

With a drop, he sent the knife crashing down on the neck. A clean slice. No blood poured out because he made sure to condense the fluid- making it thicker then trapping it with gravity. Big large blobs of blood floated and fell immediately as he let go. With a splat, it stained the undershirt he was wearing.
Ugh, not again..

Straining, he lifted up the heavy sodden head, his boots squeaking against the floor.
Taking small but quick steps he dumped it into the waiting box. The smell was absolutely flithy and he squinted his nose in reaction. Dazai laughed while pointing to his shirt.

“You're soaked in that blood, if you walked out of here police will definitely notice you.” he remarked with dimples around his smile.
Chuuya rolled his eyes, his face heating up.
“And whose fault is that?”
In response the other teen stuck his tongue out, piercing glinting in the light.
Chuuya scoffed and turned around, conscious of his privacy. What should he do- ah.
Peeling off the sticky red shirt, he threw it over his shoulder- muscles flexing.
It left a red stain on his skin, oh.
And his binder too.
He really needs a shower doesn't he…?
Behind him Dazai put a hand over his eyes, impatience boiling through his veins.
Seriously?

Chuuya shivered in the dingy, cold and still air, reaching for his hoodie and pulling it on.
Instantly, a soft warmth encompassing him like that sip of hot chocolate on a winter's day. It was warm. A good one.

(Is it obvious that i can't write anymore??)

Dazai sealed the box with the sticky blood and patted it with a grin.
With a quick flash, the box disappeared in a burst of yellow glittery rain.
“Job well done!”
“That wasn't a job set by Mori.”
Dazai ignored him.

It was a bright sunny day in Manhattan.
Until it wasn't.
Grey thunderclouds covered the sky like a canopy, and the sun became noticeably dimmer. Wildlife in the national park quieted and only whispers were exchanged, like they were waiting for something.
No.
Whatever it was, it was already here.
Grover as a stayr and part of the council of Cloven Elders was in charge of restoring wildlife around the world. But also as a Stayr working in Camp-Half-Blood he had to make sure Demigods at the age of 13 could get to Camp safely.
KEY WORD. SAFELY.
Something he ought to do better…

Grover listened to the branches and the weeds growing between pavements. Something was wrong.
Every single natural being near his 10 mile radius were screaming at him to turn towards an alleyway between a chinese shop and a antique store.

And that was when he smelt it, the smell of a fury. Something of underworld and chicken tacos.
Speaking of food, Grover's stomach grumbled in anger. He looked down in betrayal.
“How dare you, I'm on a very important mission.”
His stomach cramped in response. The craving of vegetarian chicken kebabs never truly went away. Right, Grover hasn't eaten for 11 hours. He was still searching for Per-
No!
Don't think of him.
Maybe miles away, his best friend was waiting.
Throbbing, the empathy link felt hollow and fake. His other half was missing, where was he?
Sure, he can feel the occasional pang of love sickness from the bond but other than that, Grover wasn't sure Percy knew who he was anymore.
It was like the Percy he knew just disappeared one day. He missed his best friend.

Somewhere far off, a scream tore out and a couple bickered.

Grover turned a street and standing oddly was THE alleyway. The one all signs were pointing at, could it be?
Was this a clue to Percy?
He sniffed the air, it had a hint of iron. Of metal. Of blood. His heart panged against his chest, scared. Sweat appeared on his hands, he wiped it onto his navy bell bottoms.

Although, the longer he stood, the more he smelt. With a gasp, Grover finally realised.
Demigods.
Multiple?
Two.
With a fury?
This wasn't just a clue to the wild goose chase of Percy, this was an urgent case.
He needed to save them.

Without any immediate thought, Grover rushed into the narrow alley.

That…was not what he was expecting.

Yes there were demigods involved.
Just- that the situation was quite different than what he had thought.

Before him was a demigod with aurburn hair and raggedy clothes sitting on the ground, he was out of breath Grover noted.
As for the other..
No wait, that couldn't be right.
The other wasn't anywhere to be seen.
He was sure he smelt them.
Turning back to the situation at hand, the boy in front of the Stayr was in pain, his hand clutching his left ribs.
“Damn it.”

“What happened?”
Grover spoke worryingly, his eyes flitting to the wound and to the boy.
The boy tilted his head up, hazelnut and blue eyes met his.

Now, if Grover hadn't had a girlfriend of a Juniper tree Nymph then he would have fell hard for this boy.

He was short to say, ethereal. His ginger hair turned light in the dimming sun, making a halo surrounding his head. A soft nose and freckles seemingly scattered over cheekbones like stars. His face was pulled into a picture of annoyance and then surprise.

Grover flushed, kneeling down to the ground to pull the boy's hands away from his stomach. The wound wasn't too deep, just inches away from poking into major organs. He blew a sigh of relief, fumbling in his satchel he withdrew a flask of watered down Nectar and held it up to the demigod's open mouth. He drank it down greedily, adam's apple bobbing with every swallow.

Gods he was beautiful.
No!
Think of Juniper!

Pulling out a roll of white coloured bandages he wrapped it tightly around the boy's bleeding waist. Making sure he was okay with it.

“Okay, before you panic and run away. I want you to trust me. I am going to bring you to a camp.”

The boy grunted and whispered.

“A camp? Are you kidnapping me?”

“Wha- no! No of course not! Ahem.. How do I explain this?”

“Ow- ugh, that just makes you sound like a kidnapper.”

“I promise I'm not, I am going to call a cab, okay? And we are going to New Island Sound.”

“Seriously not making yourself sound any better…”

“No, this was so much easier with the others..”

“Other victims?!”

“No! Demigods!”

“Hah! You mean those exist? Don't be ridiculous!”

“They do! Look-”

Grover groaned and took off his tennis shoes, his shaggy brown fur and hooves revealed.

The boy stared, jaw dropping in absolute shock.

“owwwww!! Stop pulling on
my legs!!!”

“As if bruh! These are fake! I know it!”

“My hoovessssssssss OWWWWW!!!”

“neh- ugh- why aren't these coming off!!”

“Stop it!”

“Well! Stop lying!”

“I'm not!”

“Yes you are!”

“Ughhhh!”

“Nughh-”

RIPPPPPPPPPP

.
.
.

A handful of fur was ripped off, the boy falling onto his bottom from the strength.
.
.
.
“So you weren't lying?”

────୨ৎ────
Twenty minutes before…

Chuuya accepted the text message Dazai sent him. His hands shaking from anticipation.
“Huh, so Chibi. This is the last time we are going to see each other.”
He turned to face Dazai, hands on his hips.
Chuuya had changed into a new shirt, the hoodie proving to be too hot.
His new shirt now read the word “NIRVANA” over it, completely in black.
Yes.. he will admit that he and Dazai swapped clothing articles. Disappointing..

“So? I'm sure you're too smart to die from Lupa of all beings.”

“Uwahh! But Chuuya..”

“No.”

“I haven't even finished my sentence-”

“I already know what you're going to say.”

“Give your master a goodbye kiss!”

“Give YoUr master a GoOdByE kiss!~”

Dazai pouted his bottom lip jutting out, his arms crossed in frustration.

“How did you know??”

Chuuya smirked.

“Of course I do. I know every habit of yours.”

Dazai sighed dreamily, his hands framing his cheekbones.

“Wow! Such a good dog~

Now come here.”

Chuuya flushed in anger, his fists gripped into a tight ball, black leather creaking.

“No.”

The brunet thought for a bit, then suddenly clapped his hands.

“If I tell you exactly what happens next when the satyr comes would you give me a cheek kiss?”

“...”

If he said no, then Chuuya would be left in the dark with not much knowledge on what to do. But if he said yes then he would know exactly what to do and how to manipulate the situation.

Smiling, the brunet saw the clogs turn in Chuuya's head. Just one more push.

“And if I also provide you with information of the people and beings you encounter on this mission?”

Chuuya blushed and sighed in defeat.

Dazai: 1. Chuuya: 0.

GAME OVER!!!!

Slowly and reluctantly, he made his way over to his partner. Leaning up on his tip toes and pulling the lanky boy down by his neck to his height, Chuuya stared at the mess of dark brown hair in front of his eyes. He sighed again. Then bandaged arms wrapped around his waist, trapping him. Chuuya touched his lips to the devil's cheekbones. Barely a kiss. Before lifting his face off the other.

A glint of light caught the corner of his eye but by then it was too late.

The knife had already entered his ribcage, sinking into his skin.

“DAZ-”
A hand clamped over his mouth, calm and composed.
Chuuya's hands shook with rage but with his body trapped between Dazai and his arms he couldn't fucking move.

“What's going to happen is Grover, a satyr is going to find you. He is going to bandage you up, give you something to drink. Nothing poisonous, he won't be that type of person to take advantage of you. Then he is going to convince you to join him at Camp, pretend to be oblivious and attempt to pull his hooves off. Go with him to Camp.”

Sinking his face into the redhead's hair he mumbled.

“All information is typed using rule 34’s code. See you!” And with that, Dazai brushed off invisible lint on Chuuya's shoulder and tugged the knife out. The blood spread quickly without anything to stop it, creating a puddle of red.

He came to with a gasp of fury, collapsing onto his knees without someone to hold him up. The gravity around him became static and tiny pebbles orbited his body.

“Da..zai.. you bastard..!” He screamed at empty air, his partner was long gone.

“Damn it.”
