Work Text:

Vinestaff was buried in work at the café, it had suddenly gotten so much busier, and since Shuriken hadn’t turned up, it was unfortunately just herself and Slingshot.

She was running food and taking inphernals orders whilst Slingshot baked everything, Vine herself helping with the dishes while things baked. She was starting to get stressed, it was loud, full of newspawns who just had to scream.

It wasn't long till an accident happened, which caused her to drop a smoothie over herself, getting her apron and shirt soaked in a thick, strawberry smoothie. She was simply lucky that someone she trusted was nearby, not a total stranger.

“Vine?! Are, are you alright?” Skateboards voice rung in her ears, she looked in his direction, holding back her tears with as much willpower she could muster up.

“I’m fine…” She lied through her teeth, blinking rapidly to push away the tears that were starting to form. Vinestaff simply shook her head, flickering her eyes.

“No, you’re not… Come on,” Skateboard let his mouth think before his brain, which was quite typical of him. He grabbed her hand softly, looking at her soaked torso.

“My sweater. I don’t need it, you borrow it.” He quickly spoke, observing Vinestaffs face for any sort of response, hoping that she wouldn’t be put off but his sudden forwardness – thankfully though, he caught a tender smile on her delicate face.

Her voice was quiet, obviously still upset from making such a grave mistake, but at least the rush had died down a little bit now, and Slingshot could handle most of the orders herself.

Vinestaff dragged Skateboard away into the storage room, facing away from Skateboard as she undid her apron and work shirt.

“Thank you, really… I don’t bring a spare shirt with me to work. Maybe I should start?” She awkwardly laughed, her voice inconveniently cracking.

Skateboard, though, laughed along with her, starting to take off his sweater. He didn’t wear much underneath it, and since it was warm on this fateful day, he didn’t have the usual black undershirt he had. As Vinestaff was still getting undressed, he swiftly took a sniff of his sweater to make sure it didn’t smell. He’d never live it down, otherwise. It smelt fine, not entirely fresh, but at least it didn’t smell of alcohol, dried blood, or something in a similar vain.

“Here… Whenever you’re ready.” Skateboard left the sweater on the chair near Vinestaff, noting that she was struggling on getting her whole body dry and unsticky.

‘Would it be too forward…’ Skateboard thought to himself, though the wipes were close by.

Taking a deep breath, he decided to ask – “Need help cleaning off?” He blabbered out, eyes going a bit wide as Vinestaffs head turned to look down at him.

Vine’s cheeks went red, though it wasn’t too visible, her eyes lingering on his bare torso for a few seconds too long, before answering.

“That’d be helpful, thank you..” She looked up from Skateboards chest, passing the wipes in his general direction.

Skateboard hesitated for a little, before grabbing a handful of wipes slowly patting and wiping her back dry whilst Vinestaff worked on the front of her body. He observed her moles and spots, the way her back muscles flexed every time she moved. She was bigger, stronger and taller than him and all ways, and it was nothing but attractive. What? He shook his head quickly, putting down more pressure on her body than intended, hearing a little gasp.

“Fuck, uh, sorry-” He stammered, suddenly feeling quite exposed.

Finally, Vinestaff turned around, her body clean and no longer stained by smoothie.

“It’s alright, Thank you, a lot, for the help.” She shyly covered her chest with her arms, eyes lingering on Skateboards body again. She had never noticed how many tattoos he had on him, nor the piercings, or the scars.

“You just gonna… stare all day?” Skateboard teased, trying to make his tone sound a bit less embarrassed and more playful. Thankfully, it came off just right. Listening to Vinestaff laugh, his cheeks also flushed red, a goofy smile appearing on his lips.

“Sorry, sorry…! It’s not often I get to see someone as.. Beautiful as you.” She gracelessly flirted, snorting a little as she reached for Skateboards sweater, sliding it over her head. It surprisingly fit well, despite their height differences, but it worked out fine. She sighed, it fit snug, it was warm and soft.

Vinestaff leaned down a little, her hand naturally reaching Skateboards face, cupping his surprisingly warm face, planting a kiss against his lips, which were chapped and cracked, completely opposing her own which were well taken care of.

“I mean it, thank you.” She spoke as she parted, grabbing a spare apron and tying it around her body.

Skateboard stood there, stunned, jaw agape from the kiss he had gotten from Vinestaff.

“Pff, I mean, uh, well, it’s no problem. Gotta help a, uhm, princess like you, right?” He disconcertingly spoke, his words tumbling over each other messily, making him sound totally unprofessional. Vinestaff didn’t mind though. If anything, she found it endearing.

“Well, of course.” She took out a piece of paper and a pen, scribbling down something before sliding it into Skateboards pocket with ease,

“Call me?” She gestured, before walking out and leaving Skateboard in the back room.
