It didn't matter how far away his cycle was, nor what phase of the omega cycle he was in, Kaveh always nested. It never bothered Alhaitham that he did— Kaveh knew how to keep everything organized for them both.
As soon as the lock on the door pushed open, the familiar scent of coffee and subtle flora wafted toward Alhaitham. He closed the door without a word, taking off his headphones and slipping his shoes off. Kaveh's whines came from the bedroom down the hallway, the scent becoming bitter.
By instinct, Alhaitham pushed the room's entrance open next, taking in the scene with a sigh.
Kaveh's nests had to be perfect— although nothing could be to him— thanks to his knowledge in architecture. This, of course, sparked constant frustration for the omega, who repeatedly shifted and rearranged the nest to no avail.
He paced the room relentlessly, rotating his fingers and using his thumbs to measure from afar. He moved and changed and renovated the pile of clothes and linen, making sure every piece was in perfect position.
"Omega." Alhaitham's voice called, both amused and concerned. Kaveh's head whipped around, slightly startled. "What's wrong?"
"It's messy." The blonde cried. "Nowhere what I envisioned."
Alhaitham simply stepped closer, pressing a kiss on Kaveh's distressed face. He tried to look from Kaveh's angle. It really wasn't messy at all. Each part of it was meticulously placed, calculated specifically for the comfort of both of them.
"Looks fine to me." Alhaitham shrugged, "But I understand your concern, omega."
He rubbed his scent on the edges of Kaveh's set up pillows, the once-bitter smell of coffee becoming neutralized from the touch of parchment and ink. Alhaitham stood back up, wiping Kaveh's tears.
"Better?"
Kaveh nodded, visibly less distressed, and pushed close to his alpha.
"You've done well building this one," Alhaitham gave him a small smile and murmured more praises, turning Kaveh's head to face the nest. "But if it does bother you, we'll fix it to your liking, yes?"
Kaveh nodded, sniffling. Together, they made final adjustments as Kaveh decided. A pillow moved there, a blanket added elsewhere. The sun set outside, a faint orange glow as the only light source.
"It's a lovely nest. A perfect one." Alhaitham concluded aloud, settling Kaveh in the middle. He pulled his cape off, adding it to the base of the nest. Kaveh eagerly nuzzled into it, lying next to Alhaitham.
The alpha sat up quietly to pat Kaveh's head. "I'll get you something to drink. Staying in the nest?"
Kaveh paused in thought, then shook his head. He followed Alhaitham to the kitchen, yawning and keeping as close as possible. Alhaitham poured a cup of tea for the omega, slipping a cube of sugar inside.
"Open." Alhaitham tilted the cup into Kaveh's mouth, who drank greedily, unaware of his own thirst.
Once Kaveh finished his tea, Alhaitham set the cup into the sink and guided him back to their nest.
"Let's retire for the night." Alhaitham mumbled, scooping Kaveh up as they lay down. "Thank you for building this nest, omega."
Kaveh smiled at the praise and gratitude, rubbing his wrist eagerly against Alhaitham's neck to scent. "I'm glad alpha likes it."
