Capsized and Charmed

Summary:

Stiles and his pack were on a trip together, to celebrate graduation. But being surrounded by couples was actually disgusting and annoying, so Stiles takes a boat out onto the lake. Not entirely thought through, because he capsizes, all alone. Thankfully, two strong, hot men save him.

Turns out that his saviors, Chris and Peter, are also the Alpha Pair of the town. The very town Stiles is about to move to for college.

Stiles Summer Stories 2026

Being surrounded by happy couples sucked. It was the worst, actually.

It was ironic, Stiles used to think that Jackson and Lydia were the epitome of couples he couldn’t stand, but somehow through their breakup during the kanima incident, they had… multiplied. And okay, it hadn’t been a straight line – Lydia was dating Aiden for a bit, which was more rebound sex than anything, and then Aiden died (Stiles’ fault. No. Don’t think about that) – and now Lydia and Scott were this disgusting, perfect couple. The perfect Alpha and Alpha mate.

Jackson was dating Ethan now, after Ethan had been dating Danny for a while, before Danny graduated early and left for college. Post-kanima Jackson was so grown-up and more mature and more in tune with his feelings that the couple was actually kind of cute. In a gross way.

Kira had dated Scott for a while, before she came to terms with being a lesbian and now her and Malia were the ultimate battle couple and just so adorable and sweet with each other. Grumpy and sunshine incarnate, really. Stiles couldn’t stand them.

Even the pups were all paired up! Liam and Hayden, Corey and Mason. Double the puppy love.

Stiles was somehow, inexplicably, the only single in his whole damn pack. And it was fine. Sure, they were all puke-worthy, disgustingly cute, but he was happy for them. And it was fine, usually. Because on the daily, Stiles wasn’t actually surrounded by all of the couples at all times. He had some classes with some of them, others with others, they would split up for research or patrol.

However, because the older members of the pack had now successfully graduated high school, the pack had decided to celebrate together, before everyone would leave for college. One last week together, just the pack. Meaning Stiles and five happy couples.

It wasn’t like there was all that much to do at the Martin lake house either. Swimming, which put them all in states of undress which meant the other half of the couple would leer, which inevitably led to making out. Movie nights, which meant cutely cuddling up to each other.

On day three, Stiles has had enough. He needed some Stiles-time. No couples allowed.

So he grabbed a boat from the boat-house, put it in the water and went his merry way onto the lake. Away from the lake house. Away from the pack. Away from the cute couples that he was so happy for, but that also filled him with so much envy because being with them just drove home how unfathomably lonely he was. He’d been dating Malia for a while, before her and Kira figured things out. And it had been nice. The intimacy, the cuddling, having someone just be… there.

Friendships used to be different when they were kids. They always made time for each other. But with relationships, those seemed to take priority and so movie nights and bro hangouts got canceled for date nights. And Stiles got it, kind of. Their lives were dangerous and busy enough, it was hard to make time for everyone. Of course did something have to come short. He just hated being the thing that came short. And he knew that would feel different if he had a partner, because then he would just spend time with his girlfriend or boyfriend when nobody else had time, because he’d be with them instead and would have this person who prioritized him. But he didn’t. He was alone.

“Fuck,” Stiles muttered with a frown as he looked around, torn out of his thoughts by lightning.

He was alone. As in, he had somehow rowed out so far into the middle of Silver Lake that he couldn’t even see the stupid shore! There was a sudden summer storm brewing above him which had gotten him out of his head at least. But that was what he got for angrily rowing out onto the lake to clear his head. He should have just gone upstairs to brood in his room. But then he’d been doing that for the past three days whenever everyone was too busy getting lost in each other’s eyes.

And he also got that – he understood why the couples wanted to spend extra quality time with each other, because not all of them were going to the same university. Lydia was going to MIT and Scott was going to UC Davis, so they’d have to make the long-distance thing work. Kira was going to New York for college, while Malia had decided to stay in Beacon Hills. Jackson and Ethan were going to London for college for some fucked up reason Stiles couldn’t fathom.

Okay, so maybe that itself was another point of anger for Stiles that made him more frustrated right now than he should be. Everyone was headed into another direction. Scattered in the wind. Stiles had worried about that, for all of their senior year and honestly half of junior year. But everyone kept reassuring him that the pack would be fine, they’d be fine. Because that was how life worked. Everyone would just be fine. Pack-bonds could sustain distance, sure, but they would grow weaker. And what if everyone found pack elsewhere and moved on?

Lydia was a banshee, she didn’t even necessarily need pack. Neither did Stiles, technically (but then there was that can of worms of his abandonment issues that should stay firmly closed). But Jackson and Ethan, especially as a happy couple and on another continent, may just end up deciding to stay in London, finding permanent pack there. And what if Scott met amazing new people in Los Angeles and decided to form a new pack there and didn’t need Stiles anymore? What if Kira decided to just stay in New York for good? Her parents were moving back there, for Ken’s work.

Breathing was kind of hard. He knew that spiraling did not help his overall situation. On a logical level, he knew he was catastrophizing, knew that he was doing it because he was kind of panicking about being in the middle of the lake all alone, knew he was tipped over by the fact that there was just so much to worry about. Knowing that didn’t stop the spiral though.

And panicking while alone on a boat? Not the greatest thing. He screamed when the boat turned over and he was suddenly soaking wet in the middle of the lake. He gasped for breath as he tried to get to the surface. Oh, he could not drown out in Silver Lake all on his own. He had survived murderous hunters, a kanima, a Darach, an Alpha Pack, a Nogitsune – the lake was not taking him alive! Or dead, he supposed. It wasn’t taking him at all.

“Easy there,” a soothing, dark voice spoke just as he was scruffed like a kitten.

“My, Christopher, when you promised me we’d catch something good, you weren’t exaggerating.”

Stiles blinked with big, disbelieving eyes at the gorgeous man who had just single-handedly pulled him out of the lake. The man was smirking at him, ice blue eyes seeming just a little too bright as he hauled Stiles into their own boat. The display of strength did things to Stiles that Stiles had never experienced that way before and made him seriously reevaluate some things.

“Was anyone else on the boat?”

Stiles turned toward the man belonging to the first voice that had spoken to him. Stiles’ eyebrows rose very high as he looked at a very handsome silver fox, the man’s beard as streaked with silver as his hair, lines on his face as he frowned at Stiles in concern.

“No,” Stiles replied when his sluggish brain allowed it. “I’m alone.”

And that was the problem, to begin with, wasn’t it? That he was alone. Felt alone. Would definitely be alone for the next couple of years, as his pack parted ways for college. Yes, Scott was staying in California so he could be by Beacon Hills as often as possible, especially for the pups, but Stiles was the only one moving to Silver Lake. And it was close, two hour car ride to Beacon Hills, but two hours were still two hours and during the week, he would be alone.

“Okay,” the one who had hauled him out of the water nodded. “Christopher, take care of the wet kitten, I’m going to try and get his boat.”

“Just because you scruffed me like a kitten doesn’t make me one!” Stiles protested annoyed.

The man paused and looked at him and Stiles had a moment to appreciate his broad neck and shoulders and the way his soaking-wet v-neck shirt clung to his chest. Also the well-trimmed goatee framing his handsome face. How were both these men that attractive?

“I didn’t even think about that,” the man said after a moment. “You just looked like a disgruntled, wet kitten when I pulled you out of the water and you haven’t said your name yet.”

“Neither have you, and I at least have the excuse of a near death experience!”

“Mh, kitten’s feisty and dramatic,” the man chuckled, his eyes sparkling.

“C’mere,” the silver fox pulled Stiles closer to him, which, again with the sexy manhandling.

He wrapped a rain jacket around Stiles’ shoulders, which seemed rather moot at this point. Both, the lake and the rain had already soaked Stiles to the bone. He still snuggled into it though.

“Stiles,” Stiles said belatedly. “My name is Stiles.”

“Stiles,” the silver fox smiled at him. “I’m Chris, that’s my husband, Peter. Don’t mind his manners. I would say that he was raised by wolves, but quite frankly, that’s not the problem. It’s all him.”

“Raised by wo…” Stiles trailed off when Peter’s eyes flashed red. “Holy shit. Wait, holy shit. You’re the—Are you the Alpha of Silver Lake? This was not how I planned on meeting you?”

“You were planning on meeting me, kitten?” Peter’s voice dropped to a purr.

Stiles flushed brightly. Before he could say more, thunder rumbled in the distance, causing him to jump a little. Chris rested his hands on Stiles’ thighs, squeezing hard. Stiles’ breath hitched.

“Let’s not rock the boat, mh? You capsized once today, that’s enough.”

Right. Chris was trying to keep him still. Stiles closed his eyes and briefly wondered if it wouldn’t have been better if he had just drowned. A nice, clean death. Peter managed to right the boat and tied it to Chris and Peter’s boat before the two men went to work rowing them back.

“Wait. That’s the wrong direction,” Stiles frowned.

While he may have lost sight of shore, he did recognize which mountains were on the other side of the lake, because he’d been looking at them from his bedroom window for the past three days. And they were right now rowing toward them. Peter cocked one eyebrow at him.

“We’re heading back to our house. If that’s okay with you, little stowaway.”

Stiles flushed at that. So he had met them in the middle of the lake, but they’d come from the other side? Sighing, Stiles pulled the jacket a little tighter around himself, even if it didn’t do anything. Especially with the rain still falling. Tilting his head back, Stiles glared up at the sky.

“Stop that,” Stiles ordered annoyed, glaring at the clouds.

“Yes. You tell those clouds,” Peter chuckled amused. “That’ll show them.”

“Your husband is kind of an ass,” Stiles informed Chris.

“I’m well-aware, kitten,” Chris smiled. “Sadly, it’s part of his charm.”

“I could just jump out of the boat and swim home, I’d be faster. Let’s see you two humans try and row all the way without an Alpha werewolf to power you,” Peter huffed sullenly.

“I’m sure I could manage some spell to move us forward,” Stiles muttered beneath his breath.

“Spell,” Peter perked up with interest. “You are covered in wolf-scents, so I’m not getting the best read on your scent, especially in the rain, but may I ask…”

“Spark,” Stiles replied. “Hence the ‘yelling at clouds’ bit. I should be able to control them. But, uh, well… I’m still learning. In my defense, it’s not like anyone is teaching me and as a poor now former high school student, I can’t exactly afford the rare, expensive books I’d need. So it’s kind of a matter of luck, or ‘life or death’ situation, for my magic to do what I want it to.”

But the ‘covered in wolf’ did explain why the man had so casually outed himself as the Alpha. Probably had tried to subtly push that it was customary to visit the Alpha or a territory when one was staying in said Alpha’s territory. Which was something Stiles had planned, for when he was going to move to Silver Lake! But they might have… forgotten, with this little vacation.

“Spark,” Peter repeated intrigued, tilting his head. “That would make your pack the McCall Pack.”

“Heard of us, huh?” Stiles ducked his head. “Our stellar reputation proceeds us.”

“In a way,” Chris offered. “Your pack did kill my father. Thank you for that, by the way.”

Stiles considered that for a moment before tilting his head. “Gerard Argent’s prodigal son.”

Chris chuckled dryly and nodded. “Formerly Argent, now Hale.”

“Oh,” Stiles nodded slowly. “That would explain why you heard of us.”

The Hales were the big pack in Beacon Hills. But after Scott became a True Alpha, Talia Hale kept out of their pack business. Which was fair. If Scott had remained a Beta, they could have joined the Hale Pack, which would have given them access to the resources that old and rich pack had.

“Alpha’s brother,” Stiles concluded, looking at Peter. “She said something like that, after Scotty, Jackson and Lydia got attacked by that feral Alpha. That they tore through Beacon Hills and headed into Silver Lake, where her brother took care of it.”

Peter hummed his confirmation at that. “I had moved to Silver Lake with my husband and our daughter years ago, after Kate unsuccessfully tried to burn my family. Let’s say that killing my sister-in-law after what she’d tried had… made us want a fresh start.”

“We haven’t been back to Beacon Hills much since Peter became an Alpha though,” Chris added. “The Alpha managed to turn some teenagers in our town too, and we had all hands full with those and with establishing us as a proper pack.”

“Yes,” Peter offered a tight-lipped smile. “Didn’t leave a lot of room to socialize. I regret that now.”

He ran his eyes over Stiles in a way that had Stiles blush. “I literally just graduated high school. So don’t regret it too much, Creeperwolf.”

Chris barked out a laugh at that, while Peter looked both amused and offended at the same time. The shore was coming closer, which was a relief because the rain was biting cold and… Oh. Stiles had the dawning realization that he might have caused the rain with his spiraling dark thoughts. Literal dark cloud hanging over his head. He closed his eyes in embarrassment.

“Everything alright?” Chris asked concerned, cupping his face.

“Yeah, no, I just…” Stiles did not know how to put that into words.

“Realized you’re the one who caused the storm?” Peter guessed, one eyebrow raised.

“H… How did you…” Stiles trailed off embarrassed.

“The weather’s been clearing up ever since you started calming down, little Spark,” Peter chuckled. “And I’m guessing that one doesn’t row to the middle of the lake with no fishing gear all on their own for fun. Besides, you said you don’t have a hang of your magic yet.”

“Yeah,” Stiles ran his fingers through his wet hair until it was all slicked back.

“Wanna talk about why you were causing a storm?” Chris asked. “Feels like you owe us that for ruining dinner. We wanted to actually catch it out on the calm lake.”

Stiles’ eyes landed on the fishing gear. More embarrassment overcame him. So not only had he made a fool of himself in front of the local Alpha pair by showing his utter lack of control and how emotional he could be, and had soaked them through with rain in the process, he had also ruined their dinner. Great, Stiles. Three for three on that one. Was it too late to switch colleges?

“Sorry about that,” Stiles craned his neck to look up at the sky again. “Kinda… Just a lot? College, you know. Anxiety about the pack falling apart, with the majority of us going to college.”

“That can’t be easy,” Peter offered, in a surprisingly gentle voice. “That kind of thing had never been a problem in my pack. Rarely were two people leaving for college at the same time. The majority of the pack was always home. The perks of an inter-generational pack. And we don’t have to worry about that with our current Betas either.”

“Mh,” Chris gave a short nod. “Isaac is attending SLU as a business major, while Boyd and Erica are starting at Erica’s family diner in town. Learning on the job.”

Stiles hummed softly at that. “I’m going to attend SLU starting this fall.”

“You are?” Peter looked at him so intensely again.

“Yeah. Hence the me not planning to meet the local Alpha like this,” Stiles shrugged, motioning at himself. “Had kind of hoped to leave a better first impression.”

“You left a very memorable first impression,” Chris offered amused.

Stiles just flushed and ducked his head just as they finally reached the dock.

Fishing was not necessarily in the nature of a wolf. Peter would much prefer to run free in the woods and hunt dinner. But they had the lake house and Chris reasoned that they ought to utilize the lake from time to time. Plus, Christopher promised him fantastic sex if Peter behaved himself.

Now, if he had known they would catch not fish but a very cute, soaking-wet kitten? He would have been on board from the get-go. Not only pretty to look at – with his wet clothes clinging to his lithe frame and his wet hair swiped back, water pearling on his pink lips – no, he was also a Spark.

“There’s the bathroom,” Chris gently steered the stray kitten toward the bathroom. “Why don’t you warm up with a hot shower, I make you some hot cocoa?”

“You don’t have to do that,” Stiles assured him. “I’m sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll just be on my way and out of your hair. I already ruined your dinner plans.”

“Nonsense! I hate fish,” Peter smiled, all teeth. “Tell me what pizza topping you like and I’ll order pizza while you shower. Hush now, in you go, you are dripping all over my expensive floor.”

“So are you,” Stiles pointed out with narrowed eyes.

“Yes, and Christopher and I are about to share a shower upstairs,” Peter smiled, his eyes flashing red. “Now, pizza toppings. Because I am starving. And you are not leaving like that. You are soaking wet. Stay for dinner and properly warm up, Stiles. You did just drown, I think you are allowed a break. Christopher and I will drive you back home afterward.”

“You really don’t have to do any of that,” Stiles sighed, looking somewhat defeated.

“We insist,” Peter stepped up to the boy, straightening to his full height. “Indulge me, as the Alpha of the territory, mh? I’d feel horrible if I just kicked the sad, wet kitten out of the house without feeding him and warming him up. Especially if said kitten is a visiting Spark.”

Stiles actually hissed at him, in very cat-like fashion, startling a laugh out of Peter. The boy had bite and Peter found himself really liking that. With another sigh did Stiles turn toward the bathroom and mh, those wet jeans looked very good on that boy too.

“Stop leering at the boy,” Chris hissed as soon as the bathroom door closed.

“Oh, like you haven’t been staring too,” Peter huffed, elbowing his liar of a husband.

Chris had the decency to flush embarrassed and not try to deny it. Stiles was very nice to look at and Peter found himself enjoying the snarky attitude. The thought that the Spark would soon be attending college in Silver Lake was another appeal. If the boy were just visiting, Peter might have agreed to just drive him back to where he was staying right now. But if Stiles was going to be here for a couple years to come? Peter found it prudent to invest the time and attention to forge a relationship with the Spark. Well, the nature of that relationship was yet to be determined, of course.

“Stop looking like that,” Chris shot him a disturbed look. “I can see you scheme.”

Peter just grinned and pulled his husband into a kiss. “Is it my fault he is delectable?”

“Just because something’s delectable doesn’t mean it’s yours to devour,” Chris pointed out. “I know for a fact that Dalia taught you that one. You have two siblings!”

“Yes, I would be willing to share the delectable treat, with you, dear,” Peter agreed.

Chris just heaved a sigh at his absolutely insufferable husband. Peter pecked his lips to appease him.

/break\

When they’d first saved Stiles after the boy had capsized, Chris practically had to beat Peter with a stick to keep him off Stiles. That continued for months. Until Chris found himself forced to stop, because he struggled as much to keep his hands off the boy. There was just something about Stiles that drew them in. And when Stiles and Isaac started college, Peter might have pulled some string to make them room together. To ensure the Spark’s safety, with their pack.

With that, Stiles got drawn into their pack, befriending Isaac, Boyd and Erica. He started hanging out at the Hale House more and more often, because of the Betas, because of the rare magic books that Peter used to lure him in, until he became a permanent fixture. Until Chris couldn’t imagine their home without the bright and beautiful Spark.

“College work or pleasure?” Chris asked when he approached Stiles.

“Pleasure,” Stiles hummed softly. “Old Hale family chronicles on the land, and previous Sparks.”

The boy sat out back on the garden lounge, his legs drawn up and a book resting against his knees. He was curled together and looked serene. Chris liked him that way. Nothing like the stressed, panicked boy they’d first pulled out of the lake. Over recent months, they’d learned the extend of Stiles’ anxiety and its various causes – the trauma he’d suffered in the past, the abandonment issues, the pure frustration of being the only single in a pack of couples. Perhaps part of why Stiles enjoyed their company, too. While Chris and Peter were married and Boyd and Erica were dating, Isaac and Allison were both single. Though Chris and Peter wouldn’t mind changing Stiles’ relationship status, as ridiculous as that seemed to Chris. He was too old to be dating. A boy half his age, at that.

“Isaac says you’re trying out the college dating scene,” Chris attempted next.

Predictably, it summoned Peter, who slotted himself onto Stiles’ other side, effectively sandwiching the boy in between them. The Spark blinked up at them and slowly closed the book.

“Yeah. Well. I tried. And failed,” Stiles shrugged. “Not mad at it though. I think I realized that frat boys aren’t exactly for me. I think college professors might be more my type.”

His eyes briefly flitted between Chris and Peter and, sitting this close to him, Chris caught the mild flush dusting Stiles’ cheeks. Interesting. Was their boy trying to tell them he was into older men?

“Mh,” Chris smiled amused. “You know, if you want something, you have to say it.”

At that, Stiles narrowed his eyes. “You’re not exactly saying something either, you know!”

“Oh, I have been very vocal right from the moment I pulled you out of the lake,” Peter argued offended. “I could not have been more clear unless I bought you an actual cat collar engraved with ‘back off, mine’, sweetheart.”

Stiles sputtered at that and stared at the wolf. “You were… serious? Back then?”

Peter gave an unapologetic shrug and flashed his eyes red. “The wolf knows what he wants.”

“But it also did the wolf some good to get to know you first,” Chris added with emphasis, glaring at Peter and then smiling at Stiles. “And me too. We like you, Stiles. We also want you.”

Stiles bit his lip, the setting sun making his eyes look like molten gold, before they closed and he leaned in to kiss Chris. Chris curled his hand around Stiles’ neck and kissed him, slow and soft and tender, until his husband’s impatient growl made him let go of the Spark so Peter could pull Stiles into a kiss of their own. Peter should never again complain about having to go fishing with Chris.

~*~ The End ~*~

Notes:

Sooo this was a lot of fun! Just a quick, little "Stiles is saved by his old men and falls for them", needed something short in this long month xD
