Work Text:

You woke up to your alarm blasting at around seven in the morning, with a groan you turned around in your bed trying to find your phone before pressing the snooze button and tucking yourself back in. "Why would I even set up an alarm at such a time," you thought, closing your eyes, before you abruptly opened your eyes and got off your bed, remembering why you set up that alarm earlier at like two in the morning.

"Shit-" you mumbled taking your barely charged phone and checking the date. Yep, you were right, it really was the first day of school. You let out a long sigh as you got up from bed and stretched, letting out a yawn as you headed to the bathroom.

While getting ready— brushing your teeth, applying some makeup, putting on your uniform, and fixing up your hair— you couldn't help but start getting a little stressed. I mean, this was about to be your last year en troisième, and you had no idea how your class was going to be looking.

You let out a huff as you checked the time, rushing out of your apartment with your schoolbag. Your collège wasn't that far from home, it was walking distance, but you took a little too much time getting ready, so when you had made it to school, your hair wasn't looking as picture perfect as earlier in the morning.

You panicked, hoping you could take a little moment in the girls bathroom to fix your look, but after checking the time, you realized getting to class was much more important.

After what felt like an hour of struggling to find your class, you pushed opened the door 032, already feeling nervous when you heard a voice yelping, getting hit with the door you had just opened.

"Youch-" a blond guy said rubbing his forehead before locking eyes with you, which made him pause. The frown on his face turning into a grin as he removed his hands from his head.

"Huh, Charles! You're in my class?" you couldn't help but feel a heavy weight be lifted off your shoulders seeing someone you recognized. You were so glad you forgot to apologize for hitting him just now.

Charles and you had been in the same class for as long as you could speak, though it was just three years ago that you two have started talking. See, you preferred staying in your own business, not speaking unless spoken to. Not that much of a noticeable asset. Whereas Charles was impossible to ignore, always talking in class, making jokes, and even being apart of the soccer team. A star player at that. You were pretty different, yet had grown so close after being seated next to each other a few years ago. And now, he couldn't even imagine going to practice without you holding onto his water bottle, waiting for him to finish a game with that smile one your face. He considered you as his closest friend.

"A sorry would be appreciated too, y'know" he replied, keeping that grin on his face as he waited for you to walk in to drag you over to the seat right besides his, already deciding that you'd be his desk mate.

"Oh yeah, my bad, sorry..." you answered, scratching the back of your neck as you apologized.

"You're forgiven" he said, still grinning ear to ear as he handed her a chocolatine/pain au chocolat, "Here, I can tell you haven't eaten breakfast" he stated with his usual mocking tone.

"How did you know-" you asked, already starting to eat the pastry as the teacher walked in, the first bell ringing and interrupting your conversation.

The first class was as boring as ever, and so did the next ones that followed. "Some of these teachers suck!" Charles complained to you after school, specifically thinking of the teachers who wouldn't let them choose their desk mates, the thought pissing him off as he walked besides you to an empty grass field.

"Don't say that, they aren't even that bad yet— only one of them gave us homework..." you pointed out while holding onto Charles' water bottle, while he wrapped a hand over a soccer ball and held onto a towel.

"Ugh, don't remind me! School sucks. I wish I could just play soccer and talk with you forever" he complained, sounding like a child, which made you giggle as you took his towel.

"Shut up and go practice, you big baby" you said, sitting on the bench and setting down his things as he headed over to the middle of the field.

After an exhausting hour of running around, kicking, and dribbling, Charles sat down besides you while you scrolled on your phone. You handed him his water bottle, watching as he gulped away almost half of his water and let out a huff, panting a little as he set his head onto your shoulder, trying to sneak a peek of what you had been watching.

"Ew, your sweat is getting all over my shoulder" you said, not needing to scream your complaint since he was right next to you, sliding a little farther so he wouldn't rest his head on you, while throwing his towel at him.

"Mean..." he groaned, receiving the towel right on the face, rubbing it all around his face, especially the forehead, before setting it down on his lap. "Now?" he asked, too tired to form a full sentence, making your eyes roll, but moving back closer to his side.

"Alright, you big baby" you allowed, though he had already started resting his head onto your shoulder. Your scooch closer was enough of a yes to him.

"Watchu watching" he questioned, glancing up at you then to your screen, where some girl was applying some makeup.

"Makeup tutorial" you kept it short, if you had added another word, you feared his brain would turn to mush right now. Your reply made him frown and let out a long sigh. "Booring- you don't even need any..." he mumbled, avoiding your gaze when saying it, keeping his eyes on your screen. You couldn't help but smile at him. "Thanks."

He glanced up when hearing your reply, he probably shouldn't have if he didn't want to be a red mess, because the sight of your smile as you turned off your phone had his whole face turning cherry red.

"We should probably head ho-" "YEP!" Charles quickly interrupted, getting up and splashing water on his face to really wake himself up, before running off to retrieve his ball.

You just looked at him as he ran off, tilting your head and raising a brow. If you thought he was an idiot before, than you were looking at an absolute imbecile right now.

and then you kiss. the end
