Work Text:
You had just originally planned on getting a summer job, keyword: summer. You never expected it to turn into more.
Being a host was simple. Greet guests, ask questions, seat them, and back to the host stand you go. Joining the team was a bit scary at first, you felt like a character introduced six seasons into a show.
Being a host had it’s ups and downs, sure servers would snap at you whether it would be for seating them or not seating them, but there was one server that would never do that to you. Teo.
He had never once snapped at you or made complaints about anything you did. Most say that he just has a soft spot for you (and perhaps a crush on you) but you were certain that he was just being nice.
It was a typical restaurant Tuesday. Slow, slow, and slow! Today for some reason Teo had been a bit more clingy than usual and it wasn’t something that only you noticed, everyone else noticed it too.
Since the restaurant had opened that morning Teo has been by your side.
“Sooo how’s the weather today..?” He asked with a nervous smile. He was really trying his best to start and keep a conversation going.
“Teo, that’s like the fifth time that you have asked me this” You say as you try really hard to stifle a laugh.
“Right.. sorry I just really want to talk to you” He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed and shy at the fact you noticed.
You have never seen him this awkward before and it was certainly interesting. He always seemed somewhat confident in front of others and always sure of what he was doing. But right now, he was shaking inside at the fact he was this close to you with no one around to bother you guys.
“Hey can I ask you a question..?” he asked in a soft tone.
Something about the way his voice had become soft all of a sudden made your stomach do a backflip and you could feel a blush slowly creeping up on your face.
“Yeah of course” you replied back, trying to keep your voice steady.
“Would you ever consider going out with me? Like on a date not just as friends…”
He was trying his best to maintain eye contact with you as he asked his question. Something about the curious look in your eyes made his heart flutter and that’s when he knew he made the right choice.
“I know this way of asking isn’t anything special but would you? Trust me I wish I could’ve asked you out somewhere more special..” He muttered that last part as he so wished he could’ve asked you out at a park or literally anywhere else.
You hadn’t had enough time to fully process what was happening before immediately blurting out “Yes! I would love to!” with wide eyes as you looked at him with a big smile.
This moment meant everything to you even if Teo thought you wanted more. Something about this moment was so special to you, maybe it was the way it was just you two with no one else around or the soft music the restaurant had playing in the background.
Before another one of you could let out another word your manager came up from behind with a raised eyebrow.
“Y/n shouldn’t you be cleaning those menus?” She asked pointing to the stack of dirty menus that had accumulated on the host stand.
“And Teo you’re cut, get out of here and stop bothering them.” She said, turning away to go back to her office.
“W-wait! Are you sure there isn’t anything else I need to do?! What if more customers come in, are you sure you want to cut me???!” He asked in a panicked tone as he followed right behind her.
You couldn’t help but laugh as you watched him follow behind her like a small puppy. He clearly just wanted to spend more time with you.
