Membrane Got Back

Summary:

Well, that’s one way to find out a certain asset of yours is something else, aka having Tak’s Ship scream it at you.

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

“Three human butts is too many, so I brought this,” Tak’s ship bellowed as it brandished something akin to a trailer, and it was meant to hold two people.

“I call shotgun,” Gaz cried out only for her father to say something- “Nonsense, honey,” he said with his usual tone of self importance. He wasted no time going over to the ship, despite his son’s protests. “Dad I don’t think you should-”

Too late.

He was in the cockpit, and immediately a sound resonated throughout the area- the ship was screeching in agony. “AAAAAGH! THE SENSORS ARE TURNED OFF, BUT I CAN STILL FEEL IT?! IT’S LIKE THE BLACK HOLE, THE MASS OF THAT BUTT! BEGONE YOU FOUL BEAST OF BUTT, GET OUT! OUUUUUT!”

“It’s not THAT big-”

“LIAR! GET OUT!”

“Alright. Wait…”

The Professor was now straining, he was stuck.

“I can’t.”

“NOOO! I REFUSE TO GO ANYWHERE WITH YOUR BUTT POLLUTING MY COCKPIT!”

“What’s with you and butts,” Dib questioned, but the ship ignored him as it began to flail around in a vain attempt to dislodge his dad.

Membrane kept trying to get out, but alas he was very much stuck. If not for the dire situation at hand, the scenario would have been quite funny. So something had to be done, and fast.

So Gaz got an idea, as the ship and her father’s efforts were getting nowhere, and Dib was just standing there stunned. “EVERYONE STOP AND SHUT UP!”

For a moment, everything (and everyone) went still. “Okay! I got an idea! HEY YOU PEOPLE,” she hollered as she pointed at the prisoners of Moo Ping 10, “LINE UP AND FORM A CHAIN! YOU’RE ALL GONNA PULL MY DAD OUT!”

“Well what’s in it for us,” one of them mumbled irritably.

“You won’t face my wrath, got it?!”

“You’re not so scary-”

Oops. Wrong choice of words. Gaz wasted no time in marching right over to the alien and kicking him in the shin. “OW!”

“Get the picture?”

“Mm-hm…”

“Good. NOW LINE UP!”

The denizens of the space prison did so, one by one. One of them grabbed Membrane by his arms, and the rest grabbed each other from behind and began to pull as hard as they could. In turn, Tak’s ship went backwards.

At long last, there was a loud POP and at long last the Professor was free. “That felt so real,” he murmured as he stood up.

“Because it IS- oh nevermind let’s just go,” Dib said in response.

So Gaz indeed got to call shotgun, and Dib and Membrane got into the trailer thing. The prisoners cheered and waved goodbye as they left, and the rest of their adventure continued as normal.

Notes:

Just a little something I threw together really quickly just to be funny. It’s based on a semi-joke headcanon of mine that the ficlet makes obvious. Yep.
