It's time for the spring season. The fragrance of the the newly bloomed tulips around the shrine, two girls sitting out at front sharing tea together, the empty stoop where they share the warmth of the air and peaceful atmosphere around them. It's quiet, the birds chirping a sweet melody where the light gently shines by the trees.
Marisa reaches her hand towards Reimu's shoulder, where she clutches the soft, delicate cloth of her sleeve, "Yo Reimu, can I ask you somethin? Just a quick little question, ze~" Marisa's in her playful mood, what is there to expect? Reimu directs her focus to Marisa, her eyes stare at the broom she propped up against the wall, her hands fiddling with something in her rather large hat. It's obvious that she's trying to divert her attention from Reimu. "What is it now, Marisa."
Reimu anticipates another prank as always, but Marisa doesn't seem to say much. It's not like the usual Marisa, but Reimu doesn't let her guard down since she thinks that it's one of those tricks. "Ah! Nev-Actually, can you make more tea?" She looks down, as if she had just said something awkward. "...please?"
A wave of relief washes over Reimu, seems like she just feels a little nervous, though unsure on why. She thinks nothing of it for now, and gets up, and brushes off the dust from her clothes. Reimu makes her way inside the living quarters, the dim lights of a run-down home, her gohei laying around for convenience the instance she is called over to an incident.
She puts the kettle on the stove, which she already filled with water and turns the knobs. Now all she has to do is wait. 'I wonder what Marisa is doing now.' She looks around, looking for things to pay attention to while waiting for the water to boil.
Marisa takes out a small bouquet that she hid from her hat, making sure that it's still good to go. 'I hope she likes this.. I should've been more thoughtful!' Her heart beats quicker, and she stiffens up a little bit as she imagines scenarios where Reimu doesn't like the gift. She's already outside Hakurei Shrine, can't do anything about it now so might as well hope for the best.
"Marisa! Come here, I'm bored." Reimu calls out. Marisa quickly hides the bouquet and puts it back in the hat. "Give me a minute!" She gets up from the stoop, takes a few deep breaths, and then enters the home, this time a little more relaxed. Marisa peeks out from under the table in an attempt to surprise Reimu. "Yo! I'm here, what's up?"
"That didn't get me you know. Anyway, can you sit here with me? There's nothing to do waiting for the water to boil." Reimu pats the empty space next to her, "Aww, you couldn't wait a few minutes without me?" Marisa's usual teasy attitude to mask her affection, when it was actually her, who couldn't wait a few minutes without Reimu. "...Whatever, just take a seat." Reimu quickly turns away and looks at the gohei, then drags Marisa down to sit.
A moment of awkward silence rings throughout their ears. They inhale the moist air coming from the kettle as the water is boiled. "Anyway.. Marisa, are you hiding something? You didn't finish your sentence earlier, and you looked like you were doing something while I was inside." She's caught off guard with the question, because she thought Reimu wouldn't notice. "Oh! it- it wasn't anything! Don't mind that, I was just remo-taking out a bug that snuck in my hat." Marisa stammers a little trying to make an excuse. "And earlier? It was just hot, yeah that's all!" She seems nervous, hoping that Reimu will follow through or play along with it.
Reimu's face loosens up, and she giggles at Marisa, "I see, I get it! Sometimes it just gets so hot that you can't think prope-" Before she finishes her sentence, she's interrupted by the kettle whistling. She stands up, and turns off the stove, then goes over to the cabinet to take out two teabags and cups, then brings them over to the table. "I'll make them, go do whatever for a while." Reimu said.
Marisa then went over to the table and sat down. "Hey Reimu, do you wanna go to the human village? I have some stuff I want to buy."
Reimu places the cups, clattering on the table, and starts preparing the tea. "Why not just go by yourself? I don't want to go anyway."
"Come on! I'll treat you to a meal? How does that sound?" Marisa tries to strike a deal, just to have her go.
Reimu takes a sip of the tea, and lets out a sigh. "What is it for anyway? But if you insist.. I'll go with you then, who knows what you'll do if I leave you alone!"
They finish the tea, and Marisa takes the broom and grabs Reimu by the hand, "Hey come on, let's go now! I have things to show you!" Marisa seems quite excited, Reimu doesn't struggle and just goes along. "Fine, I'm already done with my chores anyway. Just don't do anything rash on the way!" Marisa gets on the broom, and Reimu follows along.
Marisa takes off, and they lift off into the sky. They fly over the forest of magic, the trees below are like an ocean of green, shifting shades the further they go, while the rustling cool air breezes past them, it feels nice as they share an intimate moment together. After flying for what seems to be a while, the trees start to get sparser as they near the human village, and the air goes back to its regular temperature as they descend.
They both get off the broom, and look around the human village, the smell of freshly baked bread, the clear skies, and a vibrant town with people around working, going for a stroll, and they're enjoying their time in general. It's a great day for them to be here. Reimu and Marisa walk around, exploring the market, where merchants sell and advertise products. "So, what was it that you're looking for? We're here now so go get your stuff and get me food already!" Reimu acts a little impatient, though she's secretly enjoying the memories being made with Marisa right now. "Okay, calm down! We're here now." Marisa opens the door, and the chime plays a jingle as they enter the shop.
The shopkeeper is an old woman, who recognizes Marisa's face. "Ah! Marisa, I haven't seen you lately, where have you been?" She chuckles, and notices the unfamiliar girl near Marisa. "Who is this girl, Marisa? Do you have a new friend?"
Reimu is a little surprised that the shopkeeper doesn't recognize her, but maybe her memory isn't doing too well. "I'm Reimu Hakurei, the Shrine Maiden of Hakurei Shrine. It's nice to meet you!" The shopkeeper and Reimu have a handshake.
The shopkeeper smiles at Reimu, then turns to Marisa. "So...Marisa, are you buying the usual herbs and whatever else these are?" She stares at the ingredients Marisa placed an order that was in advance. A mixture of mushrooms, and the strong pungent smell piercing her nose. "Yep! That's mine, ze~" Marisa puts it in a basket, and gives her payment. Surprisingly affordable for a magician who lives off of stealing books from a certain mansion.
They both walk out of the shop, and Reimu is hungry. "Hey, I thought we still had that deal! Let's go get food now, I choose!" They wander out into the busy village, where the restaurants thrive. "I want to go there! The food they sell looks so good, come on! I'm already starving!" Reimu brings Marisa over to the nearby restaurant, surprisingly they managed to get a whole McDonalds from the outside world. "Don't eat too much, I know you're starving but I'm on a budget too y'know?"
They open the door, and immediately get a whiff of the smell that is the food, making Reimu even hungrier, having them immediately go over to the counter. "Welcome to McDonalds, what can we get for you?" They are greeted with a gentle smile, and proceed to take their order.
"Can I have a 6-pc Chicken McNuggets' w/ Fries? And a Grand Chicken Spicy Meal?" Reimu has nothing on her mind but the meal that she's been blessed with from Marisa. She doesn't seem to order anything, and just lets Reimu eat whatever she'll order.
The cashier notes it down, and writes the order. "I guess that'll be all?"
"Yes, that will be all thank you." Marisa says.
Reimu and Marisa both go over to a seat nearby and sit down. "I'm surprised you could finish that, you know?" She's a little impressed but she understands. Reimu stares at Marisa straight in the eye. "I barely get any donations you know? It's not like I'd be able to live with a good meal everyday, they're like luxury!" They hold eye contact for 3 seconds before breaking it, and laughing it off. "Yeah, I get it. Sometimes I just eat the mushrooms outside when I have nothing much." They both share their moments, and after a while, their food, or Reimu's meal is ready.
She picks up the meal and goes back to their table. "Enjoy your meal." Marisa smiles warmly at Reimu. She pays no attention to the remark, and Reimu devours the food like a glutton. 'Has she not eaten something like this yet?" Marisa's jaw drops at the speed that Reimu is eating. Not even five minutes has passed, and she's already finished all of it. "Thank you for the meal! Marisa, I enjoyed this day. Let's go back to the shrine." They walk out of the McDonalds, and leave the human village. They get a few waves before they leave from the humans that recognize them.
"Okay! Time to get back on the broom, let's go back to Hakurei Shrine!" Marisa takes off once again, but this time to go back to the familiar place that is Hakurei Shrine. They go over the forest of magic once again, this time they spot Marisa and Alice's house as they speed through the air. It's a calm mood, and after a while, they come back to the outside of the shrine.
"Reimu, thanks for this day, I have something for you."
"Oh, what could that be?"
Marisa reaches into her hat, and pulls out the same bouquet she was hiding early in the morning.
"I know I couldn't give it to you earlier, since you might not like it.. But I hope you can accept this as appreciation. Reimu, I love you!"
Reimu chuckles, and goes over to Marisa, her hands shaking, face covered in embarrassment.
"Don't worry Marisa, I love you too, even if I didn't I'd take the bouquet anyway."
Marisa wipes her face, and a wide smile begins to form, she runs over and gives Reimu a big hug.
"Can I stay over tonight?"
"Of course you can!"
Reimu and Marisa hung out at the Hakurei Shrine, and they eventually became a couple that day, leaving whatever happens next up to them to decide.
