"Nee, Shinichi-niichan?"
A day after returning to Japan from New York, Kudou Shinichi had stayed home with his curious-filled younger cousin, Edogawa Conan. The older tilted his head facing the younger who sat beside him, putting his phone away to listen.
"Something wrong?"
Shinichi returned the question, sipping his coffee as he waited.
"Are you sure you're not in love with Ran-neechan?"
The fact that there was no hesitation in that question, nearly made the teen choke on his drink. He placed the cup on the table, putting on an awkward smile for Conan.
"W-what made you ask that, Conan-kun?"
"When Shinichi-niichan and Ran-neechan were doing the last scenes!"
The kid pointed out with a straight face. Hearing this, a gear in the teenager's brain clicked. Shinichi then chuckled.
"Ah, the one where Ran-san fainted, right?"
He watched Conan nodding his head, maintaining still eye contact with the older.
"I'm glad you said that actually. That means my acting skills payed off."
"Eh?! But director-san said Shinichi-niichan wasn't supposed to carry Ran-neechan!"
In his head, Conan was playing back everything that happened on set. A hand was then placed on the child's head.
"Then my improvisation skills were also good!"
The child looked up, attempting to get rid of the hand.
"Say, weren't you supposed to be on your way to, Tsuburaya's?"
He remembered yesterday Conan complaining that he won't be seeing his friend for the time being of the trip. Even though, he was the one who wanted to come along.
"Mitsuhiko? Oh, right!"
With that, the child-star of his show rushed out of the room. The older sighed whilst smiling at that. Never once was he never been amused by how excited the kid was whenever that particular friend was mentioned. Reminds Shinichi a bit of himself.
"That kid."
Moments later, Conan return wearing his favorite denim jacket stolen from the set.
"I'm leaving!"
Shinichi turned his head towards the door.
"Don't get caught!"
"I won't!"
The door shut with the kid no longer in the house. Shinichi sighed, pulling out his phone scrolling through his contacts. It didn't took long to find it, as he called the person.
"Hey, sorry it took a while. Conan just left to his best friend's house. You still got time, right?
"Great! I'll be waiting near the backdoor. Don't get caught like last time."
The call ended, leaving the teen unable to contain his joyful grin. He opted to distract himself with the book Conan had left on the table earlier, as he leaned back on the couch. Even then, his smile was still visible.
Not even an hour, a knock on the door was heard. Shinichi stood up from the couch, immediately went for the door. Opening the door, he received a sudden but welcomed hug from the other. The two giggled in their embrace.
"Heiji–!"
"Missed ya so much!"
The Osakan at the doorway—Hattori Heiji—tightened, nuzzling his tan face further in Shinichi's paler neck. The Tokyoite chuckled, patting the other's back.
"I know, me too. How about we move inside before the cameras find us?"
The other laughed, as they separated. Stepping in, Heiji closed the door behind him, his other hand reached for Shinichi's and linked them together.
"Yeah, wouldn't a' help the rumors goin' around."
"I don't think the kiss you gave me at the airport helped either."
Leading both of them towards his bedroom while Shinichi stated, reminding them of before his flight to New York. In response, the taller let out a chuckle as he sat on the bed beside his partner.
"Well, forgive me but I couldn't help it! Not when I wouldn't be seein' yer pretty face again fer a couple a' days!"
The grip in their linked hands tightened. A red tint formed on the paler's skin, as he scoffed.
"Just know that I'm blaming you if I see us in the media like that."
Instead of a response, Heiji pulled their linked hands to his lips, kissing lightly on the knuckles of Shinichi's pale hand.
"H-Heij–…"
The tan skin hand cradling his flushed face stopped his words. As the other had seemed to be closer.
"Fer real though. I missed ya, Shinichi."
They stared at each other in silence. The room was dim, having the closed curtained window as a light source. Their quick-beating hearts and breathing being the only sound in that moment. Finally, one of them laughed as he placed his free hand over the tan one on his face.
"You should be really glad whatever Ran in that show is dealing with, isn't your fate. I don't think you'd survive even a month."
He rubbed the other's hand with his thumb in their still linked hands. Receiving a bright laugh as a reply from his words.
"Yea, no kiddin'!"
They both laughed their heart out, as Heiji pulled meeting each other foreheads softly. For them, moments like this were more than enough. Just the two of them, together, no cameras, no judgment, just them being them.
When their laughter died down, Shinichi moved his unlinked hand to the back of Heiji's neck and kissed him on the lips as the other quickly returned the kiss. In return, the Osakan moved his own hand from his lover's face, cradling the other's waist.
The kiss deepens, as their position gradually change to where the tanner teen was now on top of the other who laid underneath him. Pulling apart, they smiled at each other before letting out a chuckle.
"Kinda funny that yer makin' out with a guy after shootin' a full three part episode with yer supposed "love interest"."
"How did you know?"
"A little detective told me."
Shinichi rolled his eyes as he then teased the person above him.
"Jealous?"
"Very."
Heiji kissed him again.
