No Longer Dancing On My Own - Shane and Ilya 5th’s Anniversary
The first time Ilya saw Shane dance was in a club, which they were in at the same time but not together. Shane was with Rose and Ilya watched the love of his life dance with her and choose an easier life - not with him - but with a woman who he won’t have to hide to be with. The world celebrated them when the news of their alleged relationship broke out, and everyone was happy and excited for them. Ilya could just imagine how much they would be tormented if the world would find out that he and Shane were hooking up. They would be crucified to say the least. While Ilya was dancing with a blonde woman, he felt that he was on his own, away from the man he loved. He felt he was in the corner, watching him kiss her. Ilya was right over there, why can’t Shane see him? He gave it all when they were together at his Boston apartment, but he is not the guy Shane is taking home now.
The second time Ilya saw Shane dance was at the cottage on that blissful summer when they had said I love you. Shane had come out to his parents and his mom and dad both welcomed Ilya with open arms. Ilya was so happy that he started swaying his hips towards the love of his life in the kitchen one morning while they were making breakfast. Shane laughed and his beautiful freckles sparkled on his face. He imitated Ilya’s moves and soon they were dancing together with only their laughter as their music. No one can love each other better than they can…
The next time Ilya saw Shane dance was on the day of their wedding. They were finally out in the world and loving each other loud and proud. They were still healing from the way they were outed and the reaction of Shane’s team about their love, their relationship, but the days of hiding are finally over. They would do everything together from now on… they would be giving each other their all… and they would be the guy they’re taking home and no one would be dancing on their own. They just wanna dance all night… they are spinning each other in circles… and when the music dies, they would come to say goodbye to their guests and they would continue to dance together.
During the course of their marriage, Ilya had seen Shane dance many times. A few times at the club with their team and they would be dancing together. Shane would always wear the leopard print shirt Ilya had on when he was still with Rose. He loved the material so much and how good Ilya looked in it so they decided to make better memories with it. They made love with Shane wearing it and that was the memory now stuck in their heads. Or sometimes Shane would be dancing with Rose again at a party but Ilya would be dancing with them. Nobody was dancing on their own.
On their 5th wedding anniversary, Shane and Ilya were back at the cottage. They played their wedding video and Ilya watched Shane dance and kiss him during their first dance as Hollander-Rozanov. They both give it their all, they are choosing each other again and again and taking each other home… and they will keep dancing all night… no longer on their own.
