Work Text:
Damian was walking through the corridors, or rather sprinting through the corridors. He was five minutes late after all.
Five minutes isn't a big deal you say? Well for Damian Desmond, five minutes without his girlfriend is like… five less minutes with his girlfriend. They already had back to back classes in different rooms, he hasn't seen her since morning, and it already feels like his throat is closing, his breathing is getting ragged and if he doesn't see her soon he might actually go into shock.
He reached the placed they were supposed meet at. In the gardens behind the lockers, no one should be there at this hour.
Where is she?
He found her near the daisies, kneeling down amongst them. She looked ethereal. Like the world shaped itself around her. There was something magnetic, pulling him towards her, and he didn't want to resist.
She looked up at him from where she was sitting between the flowers. The way her eyes sparkle, cheeks puffy with a rosy blush. He didn’t know if he wanted to squish them or kiss them.
“Damian, look!” she held up a single daisy towards him.
Giving him flowers? She is so adorable. How could he ever refuse?
So cute...
He took the flower in his hands. And that would’ve been perfect. Until something bright yellow and black crawled out from the flower's centre and trekked straight toward his thumb.
Damian let out a sharp, decidedly un-Desmond-like shriek.
In a flash of pure panic, he leaped—becoming airborne. Instinctively, Anya opened her arms, catching him mid-air and scooping him effortlessly into a full princess-carry. Damian clung to her neck, wide-eyed and hyperventilating, while Anya stood rooted to the spot, holding him up him without sweating a drop.
A sudden rustle broke the silence.
“Anya, are you alright?! I heard screaming—” Becky burst through the hedge, stopping dead in her tracks.
Both Anya and Damian snapped their heads at the voice.
Two more sets of heavy footsteps came charging around the corner.
“Bossman! We heard a some—!” Ewen skidded to a halt.
Right behind him, Emile tumbled forward.
The words died simultaneously in both of their throats.
The garden fell into a absolute silence.
