Amanda enters the bathroom. She sees Adam motionless in the corner of the room. She wonders if he’s already dead. That would certainly make the job a lot easier.
“adam?” she asks quietly, trying to see if he’s still breathing. Adam wakes up suddenly saying something incoherent.
Amanda quickly wraps the plastic around his head to suffocate him. He struggles. Eventually he falls onto the floor, motionless and dead.
Amanda sits there for a minute. “i’m sorry adam” she cries softly, “i’m so sorry.”
As she gets up to leave, a hand grabs her leg, startling her.
Adam looks up at her weakly. “please don’t leave me here i don’t wanna please goddamn”
oh great now i have to try again, thinks Amanda. She grabs the plastic once again to suffocate Adam.
“please don’t kill me please god” he cries.
“i can’t just leave you here Adam, i was trying to put you out of your misery” says amanda “would you rather die a slow painful death of starvation here?”
Adam cries. “please please just let me go il do whatever you want oh please”
Amanda considers this. Letting him go would be horrid. He’d have to live with the trauma his whole life, and be scared all the time. What kinda life is that to live? It'd be better to just put him out of his misery.
But everyone lives with trauma. It's impressive how so many people can lead normal lives despite going through terrible terrible things. Amanda herself is an example of this. Although her life wasn’t exactly normal.
She could make him an apprentice though. You can never really have too many Jigsaw apprentices. He’d be able to see Dr Gordon again. God knows they’ve got something going on together. He would be very useful for stalking the subjects, considering his previous job. Taking pictures is what he does.
It’s probably a terrible idea. She should just kill him now. She doesn’t even have the key to unlock the chain on his foot. But she knows where it is... So she leaves.
“no no no please don’t leave me here again i don’t wanna be alone oh please”
Amanda ignores Adam’s cries and shuts the door, leaving to get the key.
She tries to reason with herself. Convince herself that what she’s doing is not a terrible idea.
He deserves to live.
He was never supposed to die.
He will be useful.
Once she finds the key, she heads back to the bathroom. She opens the door to once again find Adam lying on the floor. She checks his pulse. He doesn’t wake up this time. He’s still alive, but barely.
She frees his foot from the shackle, and drags him out.
Amanda has not thought about this enough. Where is she supposed to take him?
She should probably tell John about what she's done before taking Adam to him. So she decides to take him to her own apartment.
She drags him to her car, and shoves him in the trunk.
Once they arrive, she opens the trunk to find Adam awake once more. God he looks weak and awful. The poor thing has been stuck in a bathroom for days.
“what what are you doing no” Amanda ignores his weak cries and drags him inside.
“hey adam” she says gently to him as he lies on the couch. “Im amanda. and im going to help you.”
Amanda explains what has happened, and over the next few days, takes care of him, slowly making him better and better.
After a bit, she explains the situation to John. He was not happy at first, and clearly would've rather Amanda just kill him, but in the end he’s fine with it. Adam will be a great addition to the jigsaw team.
As Amanda comes home one day, she’s greeted at the door with a big hug from Adam.
“I know I've said this so many times, but goddamn Amanda am i grateful for you. thank you.”
Amanda just smiles and hugs him back. “Thank god i failed at killing you”
