Chapter 1: The Aftermath

Summary:

If Midoriya regretted killing Shigaraki.

Chapter Text

Midoriya’s dark, ebony eyes met onyx as Aizawa searched for even a hint of life in the child’s eyes. The class's attendance was sufficient, however something felt off.

Ever since the war ended, there was no feet anxiously tapping, no barely comprehensible muttering. The man wondered if his student was really absent and he wasn’t just hallucinating of the boy's existence due to the kid’s insistence on being present no matter what. He showed much diligence and thought in his work so at least he didn’t put all of his effort to waste. But today or..recently..the boy was distant.

“Midoriya.” Aizawa called out, making sure his voice sounded as it normally did. He was concerned, this was his child student after all. He didn’t want to drive Midoriya away by coming off as angry or impatient.

“Yes, Aizawa sensei?” Midoriya replied. His cold, tired voice caught Aizawa off guard.

“Meet me after class.” Aizawa commanded, his voice stern so Midoriya knew not to attempt fleeting to the next class to escape questioning.

The words ate at Midoriya, he was scared as to what this would mean, should he lie? Midoriya knew he wasn’t the best liar but it was worth a shot, right? No-that would lead to further concern, if it was worth lying about then it would be important. Ultimately, he ended up on the decision to tell his teacher about something that was in fact bothering him, but something a lot less significant than what has kept him awake every night since the war ended.
