[A video starts with the script 'My husband BEFORE & AFTER seeing me- A study by Ilya Hollander.' Shortly after the words disappear, Shane Hollander rounds a corner pulling a carry-on suitcase behind him as he walks out of an airport security post. His face is serious, his mouth in a thin line as he looks around, his eyes searching the crowd. When they land on Ilya Rozanov, his entire face softens, and he smiles, his pace picking up as he now walks determinedly towards his husband. When he reaches Ilya, he leans up to kiss him.]
Shane: Sorry, they had to re-scan my bag. I thought for sure they'd found the dild—
[He breaks off, noticing Ilya's phone pointing at him for the first time as he narrows his eyes at Ilya, but his smile doesn't change.]
Shane: Are you recording me?
Ilya: Yes.
[Shane rolls his eyes, but doesn't protest, wrapping an arm around Ilya's waist as they begin to walk.]
Shane: Come on. There's only two hours til our flight leaves, and I want to make sure we get a good seat at the gate.
[Shane stands on the ice at the Game Changers Hockey Camp, surrounded by a few dozen young children all clamoring to ask him questions. He looks overwhelmed at the attention, his eyebrows drawn down so much his forehead wrinkles as he looks around for someone to help him in his hopelessly outnumbered state. When he sees Ilya recording him, his face smooths out, a small smile peeking through. When Ilya reaches him, he comes to stand beside Shane, flipping the camera around to show both their faces on the screen.]
Ilya: Hey! Ankle biters, did you not hear me earlier? This is Camp Rozanov, not Camp Hollander. He has nothing interesting to say!
[His presence does nothing to quiet the children, but Shane appears more peaceful and he playfully elbows Ilya in the side as he quietly speaks, just loud enough for the camera microphone to hear.]
Shane: Asshole.
[Ilya beams back at him, his tone playfully scolding.]
Ilya: Shane, there are children here. And you wonder why it's called Camp Rozanov.
[Shane stands in a t-shirt and sweats outside the Centaurs locker room. His hair is slicked back from a shower and he looks impenetrable as several microphones are held close to his face.]
Reporter: You seemed frustrated out there despite the win. What was going through your mind at the end of the third.
Shane: Listen, I think there's always room for improvement, and it's been an adjustment playing on a new team and—
[Ilya appears next to Shane, he's shirtless and still sweaty from the game, and he leans in to place an exaggerated kiss to Shane's cheek, causing Shane's face to split into a smile and a giddy sound like a giggle to escape his mouth.]
Ilya: Come find me when you are done, yes? Be nice to my husband, you vultures.
[He winks at the camera, and Shane's eyes trail after him, his smile changing into something dreamy as the reporters chuckle at Ilya.]
Reporter: Shane?
[Shane's head whips back toward the interviewers, and he blinks a couple of times.]
Shane: Oh, sorry, what was the question again?
[Shane rides up the escalator in a shopping center with a baseball cap pulled low over his head. He sighs deeply, his shoulders rising and falling with the movement as he looks around, eyes sharp and mouth thin. When he spots Ilya, he immediately breaks into a wide grin, his tongue coming out in excitement for a brief second before he jogs lightly up the rest of the escalator steps. He reaches Ilya and Ilya flips the camera around to show both of them looking at each other as if they've been reunited after years apart.]
Shane: Hi. Did you get what you were looking for?
Ilya: I did.
Shane: Good, me too. And I looked at the pretzel place. They have the cinnamon kind you like.
[Ilya nuzzles his nose against Shane's cheek, causing Shane's smile to widen. He then looks directly into the camera, though Shane never looks away from him.]
Ilya: The kind of love they talk about in the movies.
'[Shane laughs and Ilya looks back to him.]
Shane: Because of pretzels? Your bar is very low.
Ilya: No, my love, you put the bar on the moon many years ago.
[Shane is across the bar waiting for drinks as a crowd of Centaurs players and patrons mingle around. Shane looks around trying to find Ilya, his face serious and somewhat worried. The bartender hands him the drinks he ordered and he begins to make his way through the throng of people, still searching for his husband. When he spots Ilya, his shoulders relax and the drinks he holds drop lower as his arms sag a bit in relief. He smiles softly coming to sit next Ilya in a booth. Ilya kisses his temple in thanks when Shane hands him the glass of vodka.]
Shane: You're not recording me this time?
Ilya: No. But Barrett is.
[Shane shakes his head, still smiling and then he turns to the camera while he settles into Ilya's side.]
Shane: Troy, you know you can tell him no, right?
Ilya: He cannot. It's his duty as my best friend to film my husband whenever I ask him. I don't make the rules.
[Troy's voice is heard behind the camera.]
Troy: Yeah, plus, it's you Shane, so like, I extra have to do it.
[Ilya and Shane both glance at each other with confused expressions. ]
Ilya: What does that mean, exactly?
[Troy can be heard nervously giggling as the camera footage starts to spin a bit as he hands the phone back to Ilya.]
Troy: Well, would you look at the time, I've gotta go find Harris. This has been so fun. Good luck with whatever you're filming him for, Roz. Yay! Bye.
[Shane leans against a pole outside an emergency room, it's early morning and he's dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants. He looks annoyed and exhausted, his lips pursed as he waits and scans the nearby horizon. He's being filmed from inside a car, and Ilya can be heard laughing as he approaches. When Shane spots Ilya, he tries to keep his mouth from moving into a smile, but as he walks to the car, his grin grows and he flips Ilya off with both hands before he reaches for the door handle.]
Shane: Fuck you, very much.
[Ilya can be heard snorting and they both crack up into laughter as Shane feebly pushes at the arm Ilya is filming him with.]
Ilya: What's wrong, Shane?
Shane: My vision was blurry, I thought I was having a stroke. Fuck off, it's not that funny.
[They both laugh harder and Ilya manages to speak through it, his voice coming out in small spurts.]
Ilya: And what was actually wrong?
Shane: I put on an old pair of glasses without realizing it. Stop!
[Their fits of laughter continue as the sun rises through the window behind Shane.]
[Shane is once again at the airport, this time walking through doors into the arrivals area at Mcdonald-Cartier International Airport. He adjusts the strap on his duffle bag, his face stony as his eyes dart around the large groups of people that are gathered there. When he sees Ilya he stops, a loving and amused look on his face as he bites his lip to keep from laughing, the person holding the camera slowly panning it to show Ilya standing there with a sign that reads, 'Welcome home from war, Shane!' Shane waits until he's a few meters away before he practically runs into Ilya's arms, crushing the sign between them as they hug.]
Shane: God, I missed you so much. But I was only in Montreal.
Ilya: Exactly.
[Shane sees his mother and goes to greet her. She hands the phone to Ilya, who continues recording as Shane embraces Yuna. When they pull apart, Shane gestures to the sign.]
Shane: You know you're supposed to reign him in while I'm gone, right?
Ilya: Please, be glad I didn't let your mother make the sign. I had to reign her in. Several ideas would have had us arrested for disorderly conduct.
[Shane Hollander scores a goal during overtime in game six to win the Stanley Cup for the Ottawa Centaurs. The team piles on him, the bench clearing as players and coaches flooded the ice, but Shane pushes through, his helmet removed as he looks around, laser-focused, his face completely stoic except for panting breaths until he spots Ilya, standing just outside the ever growing scrum of men as the crowd continues to erupt. Shane's legs pump fast, as he skates to Ilya and collides with him, his smile so bright and big, his entire face is transformed from it. Ilya grabs Shane's face in his hands, speaking to him for a brief moment before he hauls Shane in for a deep kiss that only lasts the span of time it takes for the rest of the team to catch up to them, piling them into a group celebration once again.]
