Beyond the Rink

Summary:

The Grahman siblings were raised to believe that family comes first. While the brothers built hockey careers, their sister follows her own path in medicine, determined to prove that she can stand alongside her brothers without living in the Hockey shadows.

Despite their careers, the siblings remain incredibly close, relying on one another through personal struggles and the pressures that come with being part of a famous but supportive family. Their entire family are always there to celebrate their victories, pick them up after their hardest days, and remind them that they don't have to face anything alone.

Their lives become even more interesting when extended family brings them into the world of the Off Campus cast. What begins as family gatherings, hockey games, celebrations, and casual nights together soon turns into genuine friendships, unexpected romances, inside jokes, and plenty of chaos.

With love, loyalty, laughter, and a family that always has their backs, the Graham siblings learn that sometimes the most important thing you have each other.

Work Text:

The Graham Family house had never been quiet.

Not when five siblings still somehow managed to come together at the same house every Sunday.

Not when each sibling has their own agenda and their family has never known as sense of normalcy.

And definitely not when their parents are big names for themselves.

Mark and Hannah Graham. The parents of five spunky, loud, children, who are in various stages of their lives.

My oldest brother, Garret J. Graham. Better known as Jackson, is 27 years old. He was named after our Dad's grandpa. Which is why he goes by Jackson. We try to lessen the confusion between those two. He plays for the Boston Bruins. He's loud, loves to be with his bros and in the gym, but most importantly, he's my big brother.

Then there's me. Hi. My name is Olivia Graham. I'm 26 and definitely don't have the mentality to be shoved and in the gym 24/7 like my brother does. You could say I have my mom's brain. So I am currently in the medical field. Nursing, actually. Not something my dad probably would have expected from me, as I was on the ice as a kid. But what can I say? Plans change.

We have 3 younger brothers. Luke (21), Logan (16) and Beau (14).

Lukas 'Luke' Graham just signed a 1 year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's his rookie season, as you'd call it. Though, his dream would to be playing on the Boston Bruins with Jackson.

Boston Bruins. Our dad played for them for 17 years. He retired as a Bruin and is one of their assistant coaches.

Logan and Beau. The babies of the family. They're in high school but have dreams of playing in the NHL. Can you blame them though? Having two brothers and a dad who played in the NHL? They wanna be just like them.

On the other hand, our mom wants nothing to do with hockey, outside of being in the home stands when she isn't raising kids or busy being a film composer.

Hannah Graham. Film composer and artist. She's creative and crafty.

Her recent project that she was on was called The Summer I Turned Pretty, whatever that means.

Yeah, whatever that means? Means I don't follow any projects my mom is part of. But doesn't mean I don't want to. I just don't have the time.

I am currently an assistant to some of the best doctors and am working towards my nursing license. You could say I have my mom's brains... just lacking creativity.

School and work take up most of my life. I haven't seen my family in a couple months. When you are constantly learning to save someone's life, you don't have time to travel or for really anything else. But that's what I signed up for. I love learning and pushing myself to know more. To know the why.

My parents and my brothers, reside in Boston. Logan just moved to Toronto.

I see them once a year... maybe twice, if my schedule can swing it. And if they're home.

My family is currently in Vancouver, Canada. For what? I don't know. Maybe to help Logan adjust to his new life.

That wouldn't overall surprise me.

My parents are the most supportive of our dreams. Hockey or not. Our parents want us to be fulfilled in life.

They showed my brother support, love and never hesitated when we wanted to try a new hobby as kids.

They may have laughed once or twice when my brothers wanted to try soccer. Let's just say, their coordination on turf grounds and not skates... was not there.

Wherever we ended up, we would never be alone.

I knew that.

Because our family had one rule.

Family first.

Always.

Notes:

Welcome to the fictional world of my brain!!

I am completely obsessed with Off Campus and am dreamily obsessed with what it would be like to have a huge, supportive family. What better than to write a little fantasy of both??

I hope you enjoy getting to know this family as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them. Thank you for giving my story a chance, and I hope you’ll stick around for the journey!
