Healing Hands

Summary:

Reader doesn't want anyone to know they have monster features because in their experience, they aren't monster enough for the rest of the species. Unfortunately for them, a certain red clown catches their attention and they heal him only for him to take a bit too much of a liking to them.
"Too monster for the humans. Too human for the monsters."

Notes:

I gotta be honest, the break in the paragraphs is really only because I loath having to stare at long paragraphs. Not for any story related reason for the most part.

Also sorry in advance to whoever is named Alex. when that comes up just use Allen if that's you.

Chapter 1: Silence

Chapter Text

It had been a while since you'd seen anyone anything like you. Though now there is a chance for that to happen. You'd sensed monsters in town and heard there is a freak circus in town and at that, you could probably ask for human from them as most monsters nearby seemed to gather there. It's been over a decade since you last fueled your monster half like that but you were going to starve if this went on any longer

you sigh as you walk down the street. You can feel your wings growing back in full from the last time you'd chopped them off so it's about time you do that again but you have to wait until they stop growing again -you figured that one out the hard way- but for now you would wear your magic ring to keep them hidden, even from the eyes of other monsters. It's risky to do that, since monsters hunt humans but you're human enough that you're sure that no monster would accept you anyway. They seem to accept you more when you just say you're a friendly human.

You sense a monster and then hear someone get hit, immediately going over to stop this human from causing a scene. The man -of course it was- just yells at you for a few minutes while you're listening to 'Test Flight' from How to Train Your Dragon and staring at him blankly. After that, he leaves and you turn and help up what you realize is a clown. Literally. From the circus.Which implies the rest of the cast are also monsters. New plan: get the food, leave the city. You turn your attention back to him and he smiles but says nothing. You gesture for him to come closer, the song happening to change to Bring Me to Life by Evanescence as you draw some life force from some of the older-looking nearby humans to heal his scrape. He obliges your request and when he gets closer you can tell he caught your scent as he looks slightly shocked and confused before you put your hand on his wound and heal it for him. You sign that he looks handsome -which he does. You've never seen someone pull off long white hair with such grace- and then wave goodbye. You hope he doesn't take that to mean that you're deaf, as you're not quite fluent in sign language yet.

You're buying coffee when you sense a monster walk in and look over to be met with a man that looks mostly human. He looks around and seems to notice your perplexed expression. He gestures for you to meet outside but you're wary of monsters so you just nod a lie and leave before he can even get his coffee. You don't want a fight with these monsters but you also don't want to know what he wants with you. As you walk off, a certain Red-dressed clown sees you and waves. He seems really happy he saw you. You wave back and smile before noticing there is another clown behind him. This one seems more predatory comparatively. More likely to just kill you.

You check your phone and then gesture that you're busy and start walking away. So he left to get someone to share my corpse with. Who am I kidding?? They might not wait for my life to end before their meal starts. With that you walk away, forcing yourself to remain calm since you know they might be able to hear and smell your fear.

Later you're at a different cafe having some food and there are a lot of people near you. You set down your backpack to go ask for a drink to go. When you come back to your seat, its gone. You go outside and see them heading towards the circus the gods hate me and talking about going in to see some shows. You try to run up to them but your scar from cutting off your own wings -repeatedly- stops you from reaching them in time. They bought their tickets and walked off while your scars are still refusing to let you take a full breath. You sigh and curse your luck that they got away. Sighing once more, you start walking away while thinking up a plan to get your backpack back. As you're walking away something jingles and you look over to see the Red clown coming. No purple one this time which comforts you a little. The wave and walks up to you, seeming to be blushing slightly. You wave back and he signs his name. It's fluid enough that you barely catch it.

You hesitate for a moment before speaking "Pierrot?" He seems to giggle at your attempt to say his name before he shakes his head and signs something. "Sorry, can you slow down? I'm not fluent yet... Can you speak?" He shakes his head and gestures to the people around you "Ah. not in public.." It takes a second to click but then you say his name right. He nods and claps for you softly. "Uh... did you learn recently?" He nods again and gestures to you. You blush at the implication. "Oh.." You feel a bit guilty that he learned to talk to you but you're not fluent. "Sorry. I just got quiet earlier... Sorry to ask but.." He tilts his head, confused. "Could you maybe get me into your circus later? Someone stole my backpack and they they were going today..."

He nods hard and hands you a bright Red ticket with a photo of him on the back. You freeze and then look worried. "This looks expensive. I can't take this..." He shakes his head and puts your other hand over it. "Are you sure?" He nods and blushes a little harder. You look a bit nervous and put it in your pocket which makes him smile wider. "Thanks. Sorry to ask for that..." He taps his wrist and check the time and show him. His smile drops a bit and he waves goodbye. You just now realized that you didn't tell him your name. "Oh! I'm Y/N by the way!"He turns as he walks and nods in acknowledgement.

Later, you went by the circus to find your bag and at the gate you sense the monster from the cafe and tense up a bit. When you get to the front he smiles. He has a mask on and it's black and white split down the middle. "May I see your ticket, Visitor?" You show it to him and he looks a bit shocked for a moment before punching the ticket. "Ah. It seems you have a special ticket."

"special?" You tilt your head, already getting tired of acting human.

"Yes. It allows you front row seats. But I must warn you. The Pink Tent and the Black Tent are off limits."

You nod a quick thank you and walk in. The scent of blood and other foods hits you immediately, making you salivate slightly. You start looking around for the people who stole your backpack and spot them and the backpack at the entrance to the Green Tent. You lean in and see that the show barely started. You snatch the bag and open it. You snatch the bag and open it. Yep. Yours. Your wallet inside and your card. Untouched, luckily.

You walk over to the food stalls but something tells you you shouldn't eat that. Welp. Time to go get your other snack. You look around and see that there is a weird amount of mirrors. One at the entrance, one by the back of every tent. Not to mention the mirror hall that is apparently one of the attractions. You look around and guess the Black Tent is your best bet. No guards, no staff, One mirror though. You stick your hand in front of it and when nothing happens, you look around to see if anyone is gone at the moment.

"My apologies Visitor, but this tent is beyond the bounds of your ticket." Just as you thought. One of the monsters has the power to use mirrors as transportation. Noted... This will be harder than I thought..

You glance at the tent, the smell of the food you need almost unbearable as you nod politely and walk away. "Oh. Ok. Thank you." When you come back, you head into the tent of your Red friend, you take a seat at the front of the stands as promised, and don't have to wait too long before people start flooding in. When the show is starting all the lights dim.

The performance Pierrot puts on makes you very hungry. At first, it was fine. He was so mesmerizing and when he saw you, he seemed to silently want to do better than usual. But then he killed a human on stage and you froze, afraid moving would trigger an instinct for you or that you'd offend him for stealing what is obviously his meal. After everyone left he approached you, looking around before speaking. His voice was scratchy and had an accent that, in this unfamiliar place, felt normal. "My dear, did you enjoy my show?"

You nod and your eyes move to the body on the dart board. "P-pierrot?..."

"Yes, My dear?" He looked suddenly concerned.

"F-foo- uh" You turn your attention to him and your natural accent leaves you on accident, just enough to let him know you hail from that area. "You're from South America, no?"

Pierrot seems delighted to have learned a new thing about his dear. "Yes, my dear. From Brazil. You noticed?"

You nod, trying to keep your bloodlust at bay. "You sound like ho- like you're from around where I'm from." You're getting very hungry at the moment from the body just hanging there. Before he says anything you stand. "You must need to clean up. I'll see you later?" He gets a little pouty but nods and you leave. When you leave you finally breathe and go over to the Cyan Tent without thinking to try to get over your hunger. You see a man looking pale and terrified but you walk to the entrance anyway. (It's right here alexes.) A human staff in a weird outfit hands you a contract and you put a star on the paper randomly but you messed it up so bad that it looks like an A so you read over the contract and decide to sign as Alex since it was an excuse for your sad little star.

When you get inside you almost leave. The Smell of dead human -faintly- lingers in the air. "Welcome." That's a new voice. You look at the bodies even before they turn to you, in mild disgust, glad you didn't eat at the food stalls. "Oh. Don't worry about them. They cant bite... Anymore..." That chuckle makes it obvious he's the reason they can't. You sit down in the chair and he pulls up the restraints that you just noticed were there and you pull your arms away from the chair. "Don't worry, Alex. Just standard procedure. There are a lot of dangerous things in a doctor's office. Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself."

He pauses when your wariness doesn't let up -due to past experiences- and steps back "Patient, your heartrate is quite elevated. I have a remedy for that if you'd like." You stand up and rush to the door but he pulls you back. You see Pierrot looking around and whistle. Not the best idea but it draws his attention and he gets a glimpse of you before the curtain closes. "Now now, patient. I realize no one likes to see their doctor but you signed the contract." He pulls you back to the seat.

Pierrot practically rips open the curtain and you try to spring yourself at him but the Doctor holds you in the seat. "Pierrot!" Your voice sounds shakier than you've heard it for quite some time before Doctor steps back and looks visibly -even under the mask- confused as your the Red clown carries you out of the tent.

You're shaking like a leaf in his arms and he whispers to you as you don't notice that Doctor has come out. "My dear, are you okay? Did Doctor hurt you?"

You make an odd sound that they both recognize is something akin to a whimper as you gesture to your wrists, trying to explain that the wrist restraints scared you.

He glares at Doctor who immediately responds. "I didn't get to the exam. They ran too fast." He thinks for a moment before tapping your shoulder and softening his tone. "Patient, do wrist cuffs scare you?" You nod, finally getting off of Pierrot.

Yours truly looks to you and asks "My dear, where is my ticket? You did use it to get in, right?"

You pull it out and it's punched. He smiles and Doctor seems to understand now "Ah. A red ticket."

You finally noticed that no one else is around and half and half walks over. "Is everything alright here- Ah. Our Red Ticket guest."

Doctor looks to him. "Our guest seem to have had a PTSD Attack." You nod very softly and he continues "Reguarding restraints, I assume?" and you nod again and try to stand, your legs giving out under you almost immediately. Pierrot catches you and sits you down on his lap. "Alex-"

"Alex?" Pierrot questions you since you seem to have given 2 separate answers about what your name is.

"Do. Not. Speak." The man with the black and white mask reprimands.

"Is that not our guest's name?" Doctor questions Pierrot.
