Work Text:
It had been three weeks since her last model shoot, the final day of February, and the radio was playing a list of songs released that day. Seojeong was hunched over, in the median of sitting and standing, arms over her knees. Doyeon had already gone to sleep, and it was just her, and the radio playing Chiquita by Rocket Punch.
“I wonder what their other stuff is like?” She murmurs, opening a laptop mounted beside her and searching for a portfolio of sorts.
The rest of the night was spent just sitting there, listening to their collection with no expression, and staring at the clock. 1 a.m… 2 a.m… 3 a.m… Something’s keeping her awake, and it's not coffee or something exciting, nothing exciting was going to happen. She had started listening to other songs that started playing on an auto generated Youtube playlist. Closer by Oh My Girl it is.
She was thinking about something, in the dark, staring at the star sign formations attempted. in Closer. Netizens don’t really like the idea of two idols in a relationship, let alone two girls. So what would their reactions be if they found out about such thing. Anger? Distraught? Sadness? Understanding? They already really like Doyeon, she seems to be everywhere, so it would obviously gain traction if she was seen with somebody else.
Doyeon was confident and bold, she wasn’t really afraid to speak when it mattered to her, or in this case her lover, and Seojeong was the complete opposite. She kept to herself, spending most of her free days stuck to Doyeon or listening to music. The people had once suspected them, but it was shut down as quickly as it was started. So a second time would be just as detrimental, probably ruin that acting career she had so desperately built.
Song after song played, I like that by Sistar, Eleven by IVE, Paint The Town by Loona, but the music was blurred into her ears, that very thought was somehow louder than even the highest of high notes.
“Ah, I wonder how Chaewon is doing… how long has it been since we met up?”
Doyeon woke up to Seojeong lying face flat on the ground, the laptop with a music video above paused, a finger hovering over the spacebar. On her right hand was her phone, the message history with Chaewon still there. The clock said it was 5 a.m, with almost nothing going on I think it would be a few hours until someone else got out.
She crouched down beside Seojeong, moving her hair away to reveal someone in a half awake-half asleep trance.
“Are you sure you should be sleeping here off all places?” She whispered.
“What do you think?” Seojeong whined, turning the other way, “Just get out of my face.”
“How about you get up first?”
“No how about you get out.”
Since Seojeong clearly wasn’t going to move, the best possible idea was to lift her up and carry her outside, sitting her down on the stairs leading to the flat. The cold February air woke her up like a slap to the face. She looked left and right like a lost puppy, before she just stared at the ground completely defeated.
A few minutes later the two were walking through the streets, Seojeong unusually grumpy, and Doyeon smug as always. They stood far apart, on each side of the pavement, but still (barely) holding hands. A few minutes later, Seojeong slouched onto a bench, gripping Doyeon’s hand so hard that she was forced to sit beside her. They still kept their distance though.
“Why are you like this?” Doyeon pouted, placing her arm on the rest of the bench, “I thought you liked being around me?”
“What would happen if the, you know, people found out about this thing going on again.” Seojeong grumbled, crossing her arms.
Doyeon scooted over until their bodies were squished together, wrapping her arms around Seojeong’s waist, placing her head on her shoulder.
“Just don’t worry.”
It wasn’t working. Seojeong still felt terrified out of her head, not to mention paranoid. And Doyeon leaning on her like that wasn’t helping. She pushed around with all her strength, no budging, not even any flinching. Maybe it was time to start working out again.
“Get off of me!” She shrieked, shaking with all her might, “They might start thinking of something else, is that not worse!”
“If you keep on screaming then you’ll make it worse than it already is!” Doyeon shouted back, still keeping her grip on Seojeong.
They were like this back and forth for probably a half hour. By the time they had finished the more physical fight, the sun was rising, and they were back on either side of the bench, staring at nothing. But silence after an interaction like that doesn’t last very long.
Seojeong turned around to face Doyeon, a look of slight sympathy plastered.
“Could you come closer for me…” She muttered, tugging at Doyeon’s sleeve.
Doyeon turned around, her face blank for a second before she started smiling.
“So now you want to play all lovey dovey again” She grabbed Seojeong’s sleeve before dragging her back, wrapping her arms around her yet again.
They sat like that yet again for about a while, just holding each other, not saying anything.
The one to break the silence was Doyeon, not by saying something. She grabbed Seojeong’s cheeks with one hand, cupping her face in the process, and kissed her lips, lightly yet passionately.
“Don’t do it in public,” Seojeong cried, pulling away after a suspiciously long time, sounding slightly muffled from the cheek grab, “What if they get the wrong idea and think-”
“Think what?”
“Who cares, just do it again…”
