Chapter Text
1, 2, and so the bells echo,
Spreading far and wide in the depths of my heart
A legendary stardrop, inside it,
There are so many narrow paths etched out
-Orange Range,*~ASTERISK~ (BLEACH OP1)
The three Jujutsu Tech first years were drinking coffee at the table in the common room (with Ijichi having just dropped off Gojo’s freshly dry-cleaned shirt), when-
“So…Yuuji, be honest with me. You think I have a shot with your brother?”
Yuuji made a valiant effort to stop himself from spewing out the coffee from his mouth, which still resulted in him choking and half of the hot liquid dribbling down his chin. The disgusted look on Kugisaki's face really wasn’t charitable, considering she was the one who caused it. After swallowing what was left in his mouth, Yuuji averted his eyes while wiping himself with the back of his sleeve.
“Ichi-niisan’s...not available," Yuuji said, looking rather distinctly uncomfortable and still not looking at either of them in the eye. He raised his mug back to his lips, the mug unable to completely hide his reddening cheeks.
Huh, Megumi thought.
Kugisaki groaned. "Well, it figures that someone as hot and responsible as Yuuichi-san is off the market."
Yuuji let out a squeak. Megumi let out a grumble. Kugisaki then perked up again, an eager expression lighting her up. "So who's the lucky person who got him? What kind of person are they?"
"Oh. Ichi-niisan's single," Yuuji replied, now sounding as straight forward as he normally did.
"What?! But you just said he wasn't available!" Kugisaki exclaimed, slamming her own mug onto the table and sending its contents sloshing dangerously.
"Yeah, about that," Yuuji said, his free hand scratching the back of his head. "Whenever gramps would ask Ichi-niisan about why he didn't have a girlfriend, Ichi-niisan would always say that he wasn't going to date anyone until he was twenty. And that he was only going to date someone at least ten years older than him."
"Ten years older? I'm way too young for his tastes," Kugisaki whined. "But Yuuichi-san doesn't want to date at all until he's a legal adult? What kind of pure virgin maiden bullshit is he on?"
"It's what he wants for himself," Yuuji said, shrugging his shoulders. "He always told me I could date whoever I want because he trusts me not to go for anyone evil or old."
Kugisaki couldn't help snickering at those words, and Megumi himself felt something soft and fond gently nudging at his heart. Both the Itadori brothers seemed to have that effect on him, though he'd probably kill himself before admitting it out loud.
"I don't think I'd mind if he found someone now, though," Yuuji said quietly as he set down his emptied mug, fidgeting with it in his hands. "Ichi-niisan always took care of me and gramps, so it'd be nice if he had someone who could take care of him."
The soft nudging twisted into something slightly painful. Ah. Megumi could understand that sentiment.
"Okay, okay, so I'll give up on Yuuichi-san," Kugisaki declared, waving a nonchalant hand. "It sucks, seeing how my potential dating pool's tiny enough as it is, but at least I know none of the Kyoto students have a chance either-"
Yuuji made a garbled noise that sounded like he was being strangled. Kugisaki dramatically rose up from her seat, bumping hard against the table in doing so.
"Didn't you see how they were all staring at him-"
The jostling of the table had her mug toppling over, spilling coffee all over the snow white shirt that they were supposed to be looking after.
Ah.
OMAKE:
