Is this what you wanted? Breaking down, spiraling...

Summary:

"However, good things can’t last forever, now can they? You see, Peter wasn’t the only teen that Mr. Stark had decided to bring in lately. One Harley Keener, from some bumfuck town in Tennessee was visiting the tower."
A.K.A., Peter is grieving from the death of Aunt May, and Harley arriving at the tower only makes things worse...

Notes:

My first multi-chapter fic! I don't have everything written, but do have the whole story mapped out. Either expect all of it out in like a day or two, or expect it to be months in between. Lastly, no triggers for this chapter but I'll make sure to add them as I write. Thanks for reading :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Peter Parker wasn’t an average teenager. How could he be? Parents died when he was young, uncle bled out in his arms, his aunt died in an awful car crash, was bitten by a radioactive spider, and is living with the Avengers? He was anything besides an average teenager.

That didn’t mean that he disliked his life by any means. He loved living with Mr. Stark and the other Avengers. It was a little tense after everything that happened with the media-named “Civil War,” but it finally seemed like everyone was moving forward. Well, until May died at least.

But at least Peter was doing better! It had been almost two months since May died, and it finally seemed like Peter was starting to move forward. The Avengers helped a bit, in their weird ways. MJ and Ned were the saviors. MJ and their mom even let Peter live in their small (and already too crowded) apartment in the three weeks it took for Mr. Stark to realize that May had passed away. Immediately, Mr. Stark had insisted that Peter move into the recently re-done Avengers Tower, claiming that there was already a room for Spider-Man there.

However, good things can’t last forever, now can they? You see, Peter wasn’t the only teen that Mr. Stark had decided to bring in lately. One Harley Keener, from some bumfuck town in Tennessee was visiting the tower. Peter wasn’t properly introduced to Harley, just returned from a hard day of Flash’s bullying to Harley standing in his living room. He hadn’t even learned how exactly how Mr. Stark and Harley met, but apparently Harley was around to stay. Something that Peter was originally happy about. It was nice to have another younger individual in the tower, Peter had so ignorantly believed. Harley’s mom had been a player back in the day, something that Mr. Stark had also taken part in. The result? Harley. Apparently his mom had decided she wanted money, and started going through her hookups from the time period to try to figure out who may be his father. Mr. Stark was his father, which means Harley’s mom sure got a LOT of money.

The first day that Harley arrived quickly set the tone for how things would be. Harley immediately decided that he didn’t like Peter. Why? Who knows. Harley just knew he had to make life hard enough for Peter that he would eventually leave. Tony was his dad! Not some random, annoying, spoiled teen’s!

“Look, Parker, you’re going to stay the fuck out of my way. Tony is my father, get your own fucking family. I don’t want to see you anywhere around here, especially in the lab.” Harley had spit out the moment the two were left in a room together.

To make matters worse, Harley was still only 17 and hadn’t actually gotten his high school diploma yet. Because of this, Mr. Stark had decided that Midtown was the perfect place for Harley to attend. Unlike Peter, Harley didn’t even have to take the acceptance test! Mr. Stark just paid for Harley to attend.

Of course, Parker luck decided it wasn’t quite done with Peter. On Harley’s first day, Peter assumed he would get stuck helping Harley around, showing him the ropes and stuff. Instead, the principal chose Flash to do it. Naturally, learning of Flash’s ongoing bullying, Harley was ecstatic to join in. By lunch, Peter had a sprained wrist, a black eye, and multiple bruises covering his arms, legs, and back. Probably a minor concussion, too.

“Dude, what the hell happened?” Ned questioned at the same time MJ stated “Hey loser, you look bad.”

“Yeah, I’m just dandy.” Peter replied, trying to avoid the topic.

“I swear to god, if this was Flash aga..”

“NED! Drop it. It’s fine.” Peter quickly interrupted. “Sorry. I forgot a textbook back in Calc. See you.” With that, Peter rushed off. He laid low the rest of the day, dreading when he would have to head back to the tower.
