Chapter Text
Even if class 1-A was supposed to be training today, the world had other plans in mind.
A certain Izuku Midoriya gazed out and watched as dozens of villains stepped out of purple portals in the centre of the USJ. It was obvious who the leaders were as a large portal opened up and a small group stepped through.
The first appeared to be the villain who had the portal quirk, his body appeared to be made of the same purple mist with two piercing yellow eyes while his hands waved about, opening and closing portals across the USJ.
The second was a thin young man with blue hair, in fact he was barely more than a teenager. Yet Izuku shivered as he caught sight of him, he had several severed hands clasped to his body with one even covering his face but you could still see one crazed eye between the fingers that scanned the USJ wildly.
Strange as they may be these two were nothing compared to the next two that stepped out of the portals, one barely even looked human. The first creature to step out was surprising to say the least. Simply put it was a hulking mass of muscle, easily as big if not bigger than All Might. Every step it took caused muscles to ripple underneath its body to the point that there were several tears in its black skin showing the red ligaments underneath. It had two large beady eyes that looked like they were pointing in different directions while its mouth consisted of a massive beak full of razor sharp teeth.
However it was who was sitting on the beast's shoulder is what really caught his attention. A woman with white and black hair and eyes that were black, almost as if she was blinded. She wore some kind of respirator over her mouth for an unknown reason. The rest of her was covered in a black and white outfit, what appeared to be some sort of reinforced suit covered in a fur-lined trench coat. She held a staff with a blood red orb in her left hand, while her wrists supported mini cannons and blades. Though it was something about the woman that made Izuku uneasy in his stomach.

Hotaru Shigaraki sat on top of the Nomu, preparing. She'd been recruited only so long ago by her Father, brought back from a life she'd abandoned long ago. First moments of her fresh start spent being checked and welcomed. Her brother Tomura had been rude to her at first yet then he’d softened when she'd stabbed an intruder with a butter knife despite a much sharper knife being right there.
Kurogiri protected both of them. Watching them like a parent, something that had filled an empty hole in Hotaro's chest. Ever since her Mother died to All Might, she had endured severe depression, only when she learned her quirk was an almost identical one to her Father's. All For One could take any quirk she wanted, and while she had stockpiled her collection of quirks, it was nowhere near to the arsenal of her Father. Zen Shigaraki, All For One, her Father was one of the few things she kept close to, and then he was nearly killed by All Might.
The warp gate would open at any given moment and then they’d enter. All Might was their goal yet she had a personal one, the boy who'd become his successor. Izuku.
All Might took what was closest to her, now she'll take what's closest to him.
A single note escaped her throat, Hotaru became aware she was humming, it made people scared of her. The others were whispering. Hotaro was waiting. It wouldn’t be long until her revenge was complete if all went according to plan. Her heels kicked nonchalantly. Mind imagining all the awful things she could do.
"Get ready." Kurogiri had opened the first gate, everyone else had started walking through, she patiently waited her turn.
Those idiots wouldn’t know what hit them. All they’d remember was the girl dressed in white who'd murdered Izuku.
She giggled, she knew she sometimes acted childish, no one could tell her exactly why though according to the doctor it only added to her "fear factor" so she’d kept it up. Of course she knew when to act serious.
"Hotaru, we’re heading in," Tomura nodded at her, she returned the movement and turned to look at her Nomu.
"Let's go cause a real disaster," the words were so poetic on her tongue yet muffled by her respirator.
Hotaru missed parts of her old life like her mother, yet most of it she’d gotten over. Anything she'd needed badly could be stolen from her house (like her notebooks, which was how they’d planned for this attack).
Her boots sometimes hurt to walk in but they made for nice decor so she kept them, washing them every time she wore them out to keep them looking new and she could never figure out why. Being a villain had been beyond her, the closest thing she had planned to becoming was a vigilante, yet upon gaining her quirk and learning of her Father's legacy, she decided to become a villain. Her Mother, Kizuki Shigaraki had agreed to the idea. Kizuki was the former villain Overdose, her quirk allowed her to make others act like they overdosed on drugs or were severly drunk by simply applying pressure to their skin. This allowed her to steal from multiple places with high security. If anything, Kizuki's seductive part of her personality and attractive looks passed down to Hotaru. She really missed her Mother.
Yet here she was, a villain unidentified and unknown by all the law, serving her Father, cared for by Kurogiri, and Tomura who was essentially her brother. Odd how life works out.
Father had said she could be the one to lead the Nomu. The idea of leading a creature so big overruled her common sense. Besides, if Nomu fell in battle that would hurt but she wouldn’t be.
Hotaru gestured for her Nomu to walk forwards, preparing for the attack on All Might. She grinned to herself, he would be there, All Might would be there and she could finally pay him back the favor!
As the Nomu stepped through the warp gate she adjusted the last of herself and started humming softly. Ready for anything! Except death, not death, she really wasn’t prepared for that.
The class was standing there, ready for a fight, and she felt her sullen expression lift into a smile, she was right about to destroy these students' whole careers. Maybe she'd play a game of League with Tomura afterwards, he always did like after mission relaxation.
She lifted her head, revealing her wild black eyes that never looked normal.
Hotaru looked down at the UA students from where she sat, looking for the successor to All Might. There he was, dressed in a plain gym outfit. She grinned despite wearing a respirator, one could feel her grin. The one with grapes for hair was drooling, pervert. Were the other boys in the class like this? She could use that against them.
She effortlessly slid down the Nomu's side and hopped onto the ground.
"Hello, class 1-A," she kept her voice calm and neutral, an idiot could see Kurogiri's impact on her. Her right hand reached down and pulled up her coat slightly, the grape head drooled as the other girls in class 1-A glared at him.
"Wow, you brought me a party, how exciting!" Her tone was sweet yet mature and civil, a little laugh slipped into her sentence for extra effect. "I haven’t been to a party in so long."
The one with engines in his legs shouted at her. "Back off, villain!"
Hotaru couldn’t help though glare and roll her eyes. She could see Eraserhead trying to escape, heh, Shigaraki always did like Eraserhead best out of all the heroes. It was quite obvious as to why, the man’s got some stealth.
"Now that’s no way to greet your potential classmate," they all pale at her words, good, let the poison grow into the tree and poison each apple.
"What does she mean?" A girl with a large ponytail and a VERY open chest says that, wonder how U.A. approved this, then again does it matter? The girls are all just going to be loved for looks, not Quirks.
Hotaru laughed again, this time no sweet noises, just the laugh she'd been born with that her Mother once called beautiful.
"You can refer to me as The Alter," Hotaru announced her villain name as she bowed, holding her staff elegantly.
Her Nomu growled, taking a few steps forward, Hotaru felt like a proud Mother as she'd raised her Nomu well. "Shh, calm down, we can rip them apart later."
The heroes in training got into fighting stances, the one with pink everywhere on her pointed and finger and said. "You can’t defeat us! We’re heroes in training! And we won’t go down without a fight!"
This caused her to eyeroll at their dramatic poses. "Pathetic..."
"You are such fools, though I'm not here for you, I’m only here for two people, and I know their names quite well... however, I only see one of them," She eyed each student and saw him. Perfect, his murder would be quite fun!
Behind her, Kurogiri and Tomura approached. It must have been quite off-putting for the teenage heroes-in-training, the man covered in the hands of corpses, the being made of mist with no real solid form, the Nomu who growled and defied nature, and the young woman dressed in white. It must have been a sight.
"Where is All Might?" Tomura shouted, eyes narrowing though everyone could only see one eye through the hand on his face. "He was supposed to be here."
Thirteen was the first to respond. "He's not here so leave!"
Hotaru observed the crowd, the one known as Katsuki had his hands sparking, that was nice. It meant he felt threatened, yet when did he not? Fear was everyone's driving emotion to do better.
"That’s fine by us, he wasn’t the only one we came for anyways. Do as you please, Alter." A warp gate was opened in front of her and she carefully went into it so she’d walk out most gracefully on the other end even with the boots that if she didn't keep her ankles stiff as a doll threatened to break.
"Quite right, Kurogiri," She gestured to Kurogiri and Tomura, turning to face the class and speak directly to them. "They might not have any personal grudges on this person though I do."
She took slow steps forward.
Thirteen blocked Hotaru's way to the future heroes. "I won’t let you harm anyone!"
"For the love of- I'm just returning an old favor, now give me that boy and I'll retreat since it appears All Might isn't coming." Her arm lifted and her finger pointed, Izuku was at the end of where it was angled.
The entire class froze, he looked shocked.
The pervert, Mineta groaned. The redhead, Kirishima took a step in front of Izuku. The rest of the class went from preparing their fighting stance to being completely ready. Eraserhead mumbled something, then pulled down his goggles, weak.
She tilted her head, eyes closing, and brought out the smile from when she was alive. "That's useless, you can't unquirk someone who hasn't activated their quirk, let alone multiple."
Everyone gasped, the sound pulling out of their throats like a wild animal pulls on meat. Of course, they didn’t expect much from someone who was commanding an awful monster, perhaps they suspected that was her Quirk?
Their Quirks also stopped too, the one who looked like the Canadian flag, Todoroki had his ice suddenly stop, the one with engines in his legs, Iida had cooled them, and the girl with brown hair, Uraraka lowered her hands. Shock was clear on each face, Hotaru took a mental picture and made sure to savor the memory.
"Liar," Katsuki shrieked. "You can't have multiple quirks, let alone use them all!"
Hotaru swayed her hips slightly to make her coat swirl. It was alluring, attractive, eye-catching. Small chuckles escaped the woman's lips. She activated one of her quirks, Mind-Invader.
"You would say that, wouldn’t you?"
She waited for the world to let it sink in then said the word like a bomb she’d been waiting to drop.
"Kacchan?"
"Why are you talking to Bakubro like that?" Kirishima had done something odd with his right arm, it looked like it was now made of rock. What a boring Quirk, everyone knows to be a good hero it has to be a flashy Quirk, like the pink girl, Ashido's Acid Quirk.
"Has nobody noticed, I can see your memories," Hotaru casually spoke, catching everyone off guard. There was no hint of sarcasm.
"You think that'll change anything?" the muscular guy with large lips, Sato asked.
Hotaru merely laughed. "Let's see here, Kirishima has no personal awareness, Ashido invades everyone's privacy, Hagakure cheated her way into U.A. because she's invisible, Uraraka gets sick every five seconds, Kaminari's a pervert who can't even fight without becoming an idiot, Minoru's an even worse pervert, Bakugo has a giant ego, Midoryia's a crybaby, many of you barely have an outfit, many of you have no armour or protection on your outfits, half of you forgot what practicality actually means, I'm looking at you Yaoyorozu, and Todoroki's daddy issues are so severe he's constantly saying, 'no I can't use my left side because my Father is a terrible person' we get it kid, shut your mouth before my ears get sore!"
it was at that moment that the entire class froze in silence, not because Hotaru could read minds, the fact that she was kind of right. Izuku and Katsuki looked offended, Uraraka looked even more sick, Kaminari and Mineta shrunk into the small crowd, Hagakure felt far more exposed despite being invisible, while the rest looked at their outfits with realization and disgust, Yaoyorozu having the biggest reaction.
"Shut up!" The class’ gaze suddenly shot between Hotaru and Katsuki, still confused as hell about what had just been revealed.
"I don’t know where the fuck you learned that, though you're a villain we have to force into surrender!" He held up his hands. Hotaru momentarily got distracted wondering why the hell was he wearing gloves, wouldn’t that just block his Quirk?
"Bakugo..." She slowly said the word as the Nomu approached a few steps closer, the class and the teachers were frozen in shock, Katsuki looked like he’d seen a ghost.
"Remember the boy you told to take a swan dive off the roof?" Hotaru spun her staff several times, a chuckle escaping her lips as Katsuki's shocked face turned to Izuku's.
"Oh I can see, you wanted little Izuku here dead, cause he was worthless, so how about I finish the job for you?"
Suddenly Thirteen’s finger was in front of her, threatening her in the only way someone with that kind of a Quirk could.
"I see... even the broken and beaten can’t get some respect from you heartless heroes." She turned, then a loud noise made her look back to see a sight that would have had most screaming, yet her brain didn’t react.
Katsuki lunging at her, Kurogiri’s warp gate opening around each student, Aizawa and Thirteen trying to grab students, the random criminals they’d hired getting ready for a fight.
Hotaru stood there for a moment after everyone had been sent away, unafraid, numb. Then the Nomu walked up to her and she climbed up onto his shoulder again. Good, this was where she belonged.
"Good job, Sis," Tomura patted her on the head, most would consider it affection, Hotaru knew this wasn’t exactly that, rather a symbiotic relationship between the two where they both threatened each other one moment than were playing video games together, not caring who won (most of the time).
With that out of the way, Hotaru looked at the memories she had just witnessed, focusing slowly, she saw one that made her almost pity Izuku.
Izuku giggled at Katsuki, the little kids had big grins on their faces, they knew what they wanted to be, heroes.
“When I get my Quirk, Kacchan, let’s do hero training together and we’ll go to UA and we’ll be the best!” He waved his hands in the air, knowing he’d say yes.
“Yeah! Though I’m still going to be better than you!” For a kid who’d only been on this earth for so long he looked smug.
The two chased each other across the park, laughter filling their days in a way that only children can be.
Their Mothers, Inko and Mitsuki watched, smiles on their faces, their children were going to be such good friends.
“I’m still concerned though, Mitsuki. He's 4 and everyone has manifested a Quirk but not him, I’m scared to take him to the doctor in case of rejection.” Inko rested her face on her hand.
“Please, there’s no way Izuku doesn’t have a Quirk! He's got the spirit of a real hero and I swear if the heavens above have any sense of what’s right and wrong they’d give him a Quirk!” Mitsuki put her hands on her hips.
“I suppose you’re right. But if he doesn’t have a Quirk what do I do? I can’t just crush his dream.”
No one spoke, they both knew without a Quirk you couldn’t be a hero, the most you could be was a business course student or maybe a support course student if you had the brains, no doubt Izuku could do either but all he wanted was to be a hero.
“He's probably just a late bloomer, I bet in the next year or so he’ll get a Quirk.” Red eyes followed the two children.
“I should just take her to the doctor to be sure, I don’t want to prolong her suffering.” Green hair swayed with Inko’s movements.
A loud laugh escaped Mitsuki, “Please, if anything being diagnosed as Quirkless would only make him want to become a hero more! If he really is Quirkless then I bet he’ll be the first Quirkless hero ever!”
Katsuki tripped as he ran, Izuku stopped to help him up.
“Yeah, whatever he does… it’ll be amazing.”
"Oh you sweet summer child..." Hotaru laughed to herself. She would feel bad, yet this is All Might's successor, if the thugs didn't finish him off, which she knew they wouldn't, then she would relish in slowly breaking him.
Just like when All Might killed her Mother.
