Your hand ran through the fridge, searching around its insides for a quick bite to eat. Nothing that would require more than a few minutes to whip up. If you stayed in here any longer you knew a certain cook would sense something was amiss in his kitchen.
It was mid-day on the Sunny, some of the crew ran about the ship in search of things to do; others occupied their time with their own hobbies. You for instance had been reading up top, lounging back on a nice beach chair when the thought of a snack sounded quite appetizing.
Honestly you were a bit surprised the blond hadn’t come by you with said offers of a snack. He must be busy with something, so you decided to put a bookmark in the page and sneaked into the kitchen quickly before he or your captain could see. Allowing Luffy to follow you in without Sanji’s watchful eye would spell growling stomachs for the next few days’ voyage.
Your gaze landed on the apples set in a small wooden bowl and reached to grasp one, hoping the cook hadn’t planned on making anything specific with it. You also had the guilty pleasure of knowing he’d forgive you for it anyway. Sanji was much too smitten with you.
You quietly hummed the remembrance of a tune Brook had been playing last night as you brought the apple to the counter, then reached in a drawer for a knife. After a quick rinse in the sink, you went to slice the apple. Just as the knife’s edge went down there was a slamming sound as the door to the room swung open.
“Luffy if you-“ His shouting cut off at the sight of you, but the heat in Sanji’s voice held nothing to the sharp, searing pain in your thumb. The knife had knicked the digit, causing a sudden rush of blood to leak.
“Oh, [Y/N] my love, were you needing a-“ Sanji began to swoon, a grin adorning his features before he heard you hiss and saw you pull your hand back towards yourself. Sanji rushed to your side and gently grasped at your wrist so he could see your hand.
“Shit [Y/N], are you okay?” He examined the blood that spilled down your thumb and began to trail down to your palm. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He said with a genuine tone.
You gave him a small smile, biting back the wince. “It’s okay, babe. Just a small cut.”
Sanji surveyed your thumb before taking the knife out of your other hand. “I’ll finish the apple up and make you something good later. First, let’s get this cleaned up.”
Sanji guided you to the water faucet and turned it on, letting the blood wash away. He reached for a small piece of blue cloth and wet it, before then wrapping it around your thumb. He held the cloth in place, keeping his fingers wrapped around your own. “We’ll have to get a bandage from Chopper.” Sanji’s gaze went back to your own.
You leaned over and gave Sanji a sweet peck on the cheek, “Thank you, my love. That was very kind.”
His face flushed and he turned to look away, before ruffling your hair. “Mhm, not a problem. Now let’s go to Chopper’s office, so I can feed you, beautiful.” He could act all cool, but you knew internally Sanji was melting away at your touch.
