Work Text:

It was a year after Shane and Ilya got married and they were having breakfast in the house with David and Yuna where Shane grew up. David was reading a newspaper where an ad for the latest SpiderMan film was being shown.

“Honey, do you remember when we brought Shane to see the SpiderMan movie when he was young?” David asked his wife as he folded the newspaper.

Ilya perked up. He always loved hearing stories about Shane when he was little.

“Yes, I do!” Yuna replied excitedly. “He was 5 and he was wearing a SpiderMan costume!”

“Would you have pictures, Yuna?” Ilya asked.

“Why yes, we do!” Yuna scurried to their bedroom to grab their family album.

“My Shane must have looked so adorable in a SpiderMan costume,” Ilya said, looking lovingly at his husband.

Shane scoffed but he gave his Ilya a kiss on the cheek. “You bet I did,” he said confidently. Ilya turned his head to look at his husband and puckered his lips. Shane willingly gave his husband a quick kiss on them.

“Here you go!” Yuna said, giving the album to Ilya. It was opened to the page showing 5 year old Shane, with cute freckles on his chubby cheeks, wearing a SpiderMan suit without the mask, leaning sideways on the superhero’s life-sized standee. He had his arms crossed on his chest and his right foot crossed over his left one, mirroring SpiderMan’s pose on the standee. He was smiling brightly on the camera and Ilya’s heart exploded with the cuteness!

“Oh, Shaney! You look so cute!” Ilya cried as he stared lovingly at the picture.

“David, do you remember Shane crying when SpiderMan was hurt?” Yuna asked.

“Yes! He cried so hard, I had to carry him out of the moviehouse. He stopped when I bought him cotton candy. I remember I took a photo of him at that time.”

“I think this is the one, David!” Ilya pointed to a photo showing Shane with a blue cotton candy, his eyes red from crying.

“Yes that is the one!”

“Shane didn’t want to remove his SpiderMan costume when we got home. He even slept in it,” Yuna said, smiling fondly at the memory. “I removed it while he was asleep and when he found me in the laundry room with his SpiderMan costume in the machine, tears formed in his eyes as he watched it. My heart broke when I saw him like that.”

“Oh, he was already doing that before? The tears in his eyes that won’t fall?”

“Yes!” David and Yuna replied in unison.

“Ah yes, I already saw that when I said I could marry Svetlana. When I saw his eyes with tears, I wanted to take it back right away and tell him I would rather be fed to sharks than to see him like that,” Ilya mused.

“What?” David and Yuna asked in unison again. They were soulmates, too, afterall.

“Ilya, which SpiderMan film have you watched?” Shane interrupted.

“Uh none. They didn’t show it in Russia.”

“How about when you were in Boston?”

“Cliff invited me once to see it but we were going to meet so I didn’t go with him.”

“Oh,” Shane replied guiltily.

“Don’t worry, I can watch it on the plane on our next flight for a game,” Ilya assured his husband. This time, it was his turn to give Shane a kiss on the cheek.

Two days later, Ilya got home from a meeting with a luxury brand Yuna got him for a partnership. He was exhausted but he was looking forward to spending time with his Shane.

“Sweetheart?” Ilya called out. He heard a noise in their living room so he headed towards it. Ilya’s breath got caught in his throat at what he saw: there was  Shane all suited up as Spiderman with his feet up the wall and one of arm on the ground. He knew it was Shane, he could recognize the love of his life even if he was all covered up from head to toe.

“Pew, pew.” Shane extended his other arm  and pointed his wrist up like he was targeting someone. He brought his feet down from the wall, ran to Ilya and rolled forward over his head on the ground. He then stood in front of his husband.

“Hi! I am your friendly neighborhood Spiderman!” Shane said through his mask. “What’s your name?”

“Ilya Rozanov,” his husband smiled, totally amused.

“Hi, Ilya. How can I help you?”

“I’m looking for my husband. He is the love of my life and bad men took him. Please help me look for him, I will die without him!” Ilya knew Shane was blushing underneath his mask.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Ilya! I will help you look for your husband, the love of your life!” Shane turned his back to Ilya. “Hop on, we will look for him.” Ilya jumped on Shane’s back then his husband took off in their living room, slinging imaginary spiderwebs along their way. Ilya’s smile reached his ears as he held on to Shane.

After a few rounds, Shane collapsed on their couch. Ilya got off from him before Shane laid down on the couch, panting. He hastily removed his mask to get in more air. Ilya went to the side of the couch and hovered his face over Shane’s.

“My hero,” Ilya gushed as he stared into his husband and gave him an upside-down kiss. It was awkward at best but they both enjoyed it.

“I wanted to give you a SpiderMan experience,” Shane said to Ilya.

“Thank you, sweetheart. It's the best one. I love you, my SpiderMan Shane.”

Notes:

That's me doing a SpiderMan challenge on the wall during yoga class and also after dinner with 3 tequila shots in.
That was also me crying in the movie house when I was little while Superman was being hurt by the bad guys.

That was my son leaning beside a SpiderMan standee in his Spiderman costume. Same exact pose.
and that was also my son eating cotton candy after throwing a tantrum in his SpiderMan costume.
