The Latiar’s stumble into there house after a night out for their anniversary. Normal the house was dark by the time they got back from being out given there son Ampert was asleep by ten and their go to teenage babysitter Wiress basically lived at their house anyway so she had her own room and would just sleep there once she got Ampert to sleep. But tonight they walked into see the living room and kitchen lights on, and the sixteen year old girl who they treated as their own daughter was crying at their kitchen table.
“ Wiress, what’s wrong?” Ada walked over to the girl who was just faced down on her kitchen table sobbing and softly rubbed the girls back
“ Wire do you want to talk about it or just get ready and go to bed?” Ada softly asked the girl. Wiress sat up and tapped on Ada’s wrist which was the her way of communicating yes when she couldn’t speak. Ada noticed that the house phone was resting against the wall off the box and there was a name crossed off of the contract list that they kept for Ampert to call if he needed anything next to the phone. The name that was crossed off was the kid Ada would call Wiress best friend.
“Ok, let’s get you to bed. If it’s still bothering you we can talk about it in the morning” Ada brush Wiress hair out of her face and they went off to the room that many years ago was claimed by her.
“You figure out what might be wrong?” Beetee asked his wife after she had but Wiress to bed. Ada noticed that Beetee had gotten out a piece of paper and was rewriting the contract numbers, because Wiress had gone a little crazy with a red sharpie.
“ No, I think she’s not gonna talk until the morning.. I think it has something to do with that Tess kid she has been going with” Beetee looked confused at his wife “Define going with. That’s a very vauge term” Ada walked over to the kitchen counter to sit on the barstool
“ You know what I mean Bee” Beetee just looked at Ada like she had spoken Mandarin to him, which would be contradictory because he does speak mandarin so he would fully understand what is being said to him.
“Wiress and Tess are dating, it’s kinda obvious”
“No? If they were dating Wiress would have said something to us”
“Bee, your whole family didn’t know that I exist until you brought me home and we were engaged, you have no place to speak”
“I-we were in college we didn’t see my parents a whole lot”
“ We started dating first semester freshman year and got engaged first semester senior year, you had time to have me met your family”
Beetee smiled at Ada knowing he was no longer going to have a chance at being correct in this argument. He thinks there was just a part of him who hated the idea that Wiress wouldn’t share something like that. So he just walked off into their bedroom.
In the early morning Beetee woke up, he was still tired from going to sleep four hours prior but he was up and there was no reason to act like he was going to be able to get back asleep. Beetee walked into his kitchen to see the shadow standing on the back porch. He quietly made two cups of coffee and went out to the porch and handed Wiress the mug. She looked at him and smiled, Beetee knew that she was not in the place to use words to speak.
“ Are you going to go to school today?” Wiress shook her head gently sipping on the coffee
“ Ada thinks you are upset about Tess, are you?” She tapps both her and Beetees wrist
“You kinda are, did you two break up?” She tapped just her wrist but also held both of her hands flat Beetee took a minute to think about how to respond .
“So, you and Tess weren’t dating, but you also weren’t not dating?” Wiress tapped his wrist, he decided to stop that part of the conversation right there because of how he could just read her sad explanation which told him that Tess probably started to official dating someone that was not Wiress.
Beetee put his hand on her shoulder which made Wiress give him a weird look because it was uncommon for Beetee to initiate any physical contact let alone putting a hand on someone that wasn’t Ada, It was weird but felt very supportive coming from him. “ Have you talked to your parents in the past couple of days?” Beetee asked,Wiress tapped her own wrist. He gave her a sad smile it’s well known information that she never really spends a lot of time with her parents and never really had. That’s how she ended up with Ada and Beetee because in College Ada babysat Wiress well her parents were gone for weeks or months at a time overseas and Wiress was just a baby.
Beetee and Ada were essentially her parents they had spend all of her milestones with her, hell Beetee was the one who took her to her first day of school despite being in the hell of doing his masters thesis. But her parents sent money and came around once or twice a year depending on what they were doing for work, also now that Wiress can drive herself she can go between her own house and there home she will always choose to be at the Latiars home.
“ Do you want to go to work with me today? I have a project I want you to look at there’s a bug with the connection port that I think you might understand ” it was partially a lie but if she wasnt going to school anyway might as well have he go do something educational with proof so that Beetee could show the school later. Wiress smiled at Beetee with before throwing her arms around his shoulders. Beetee hated hugs but it being from his Wiress made it okay.
