Chapter 1: Running and Running and Running

Chapter Text

Kat ran towards the door. Towards Bobby.

“Bobby! No!”

The door was locked. Of course it was fucking locked.

She got up and ran towards the hallway nearest.

“Kat!” Clark screamed behind her. She didn’t care about him though.

She needed Bobby. Her Bobby.

“No.. Bobby.. Bobby!”

She just wanted to see Bobby.

So bad.

Her sandals were covered in blood.. Wait, where did that blood come from?

She looked over her shoulder.

Something that looked like Clark stood over her menacingly.

She screamed.

—

Never in Kat’s life did she imagine she would be in this situation.

What the fuck was even happening!?

She just went into a different dimension full of office spaces.. At least, that’s what she imagined.

She just saw her boyfriend die.

And she just saw an 8 foot tall version of her shitty boss, covered in blood.

If only Bobby wasn’t high, he would’ve been like ‘Nope. Not doing this,’ and went out of Cap’n Clark’s with Kat and reported this to the police.

He was so clever when he was sober..

Kat skidded around a corner and went into a room full of office-type spaces (well, all the rooms before looked like an old office but this one looks more like one).

She ran towards a door and slammed it shut.

Kat looked around at her surroundings. She was in.. a pool?

She went into another room. This one had nothing other than tiles, a door, and a mirror.

She ran towards the door but it was locked. Kat almost left the room before she saw Clark in the other room.

“Clark? Clark! I’m here..”

“Kat!?”

“Let me in! Please!”

“Wh-Where are you?”

“We have to go now, Clark. We have to go, it’s gonna find me!”

“Kat.. Kat.. uh, I don’t understand, where are you!?”

Kat and Clark yelled at each other for a long time until she saw something, the same 8 foot monster behind Clark, picking up his camera.

“CLARK! CLARK! CLARK, BEHIND YOU!” Kat screamed.

He looked back and it started walking toward him.

“Oh fuck!” Kat screamed.

She didn’t want to see anyone else die, not even her shitty boss.. So she ran.

Ran, and ran, and ran out of the room, out of the pool area, back into the office.

She ran and ran and ran.

If Bobby was with her, he’d calm her down, help her not have a panic attack.

But Bobby was probably dead.

As well as Clark.

Kat was alone.

—

Kat and Bobby were watching TV.

They always loved doing that on a night after work. It was always cozy, just so cozy.

Bobby stuffed a bunch of popcorn into his mouth.

“You’re disgusting, Bobby.”

“What? You’re the one who makes very loud slurping noises, y’know.”

“I guess you’re right.”

—

Kat squeezed through a very tiny door.

She kept hearing noises. Like, a lot of noises.

Sometimes it sounded like skittering.

Sometimes it sounded like footsteps.

Kat wondered if Bobby was still alive.

She hoped he was. In another timeline, when they realized they could walk through the wall, they’d have called the police and gone about their day-to-day lives.

Kat finally went through the tiny door and started walking around the room.

It was packed with furniture, varying from couches, chairs, tables, etc.

It looked very weird. There were doors high up in the room where she couldn’t reach.

On the floor she was in, there were two doors.

There were a bunch of arrows pointing to the left side, but they were covered in blood.

She didn’t trust blood.

So she went into the right-side door.

This part of the rooms were.. Different.

The floor was orange, and the walls were a cream-tinted color.

Doors and filing cabinets were everywhere, as well as papers and mugs.

She opened one of the doors and..

Holy shit.

There was a whole city down here.

—

Kat and Bobby were too broke to afford a car.

So, they usually walked or took the bus.

They were late for the bus today, so they needed to walk the dreadful 15 minutes to Cap’n Clark’s. (Even though it was only 15 minutes, they still hated it).

“Did you hear about what happened to Clark?” Kat said.

“Wait, what happened?”

“So, y’know that Clark has a wife, right?”

“Yeah?”

“They broke up.”

“What!? I thought they had a stable relationship?”

“Apparently not.”

The couple walked in silence until they got to the Ottoman Empire.
