Winter rolls around in her bed, groaning out of boredom. She picks up her cellphone, letting the bright light reflect on her face. The clock reads 2:49am.
She goes and scrolls on Instagram and checks who texted her on there. A teenage boy texted her asking if they could date. Whatever.
She plays some video games. She sucks at games. Boring.
She listens to music. Her Spotify keeps shuffling to Yuno Miles. Winter almost deletes the app herself.
Winter opens up her messages, texting her girlfriend. Maybe just talking to somebody could cure her boredom. Maybe she had just felt alone all this time.

karina are you awake
i miss you :(
Karina replies immediately.

im otw right now winter reacted “ ? “ to this message.
Winter blinks behind the screen. What could that possibly even mean? She hears shuffling near her window. She sighs, “Karina I swear to fucking god—” Karina knocks on the window interrupting her. Winter wants to ignore her so bad. But she can’t bring herself to. She opens the window after hesitating.
Winter whispers as loud as she could at her as soon as she comes in, ”Karina what in the living hell are you doing here.” Karina grins, knowing how aggravated Winter is. “What? You said you missed me.”
“Yeah. I told you I missed you. Not that you had to come over.” Winter replies in a condescending tone. “It’s three in the morning! What are you thinking?” She emphasizes.
Karina presses her lips into a thin line. “Welll, now that I’m here..” She leans in hugging Winter, putting kisses all over her neck. “We should do something.” Winter would’ve told her to get out by now, but she melts upon her touch like an idiot. Karina asks, “Do you wanna watch a movie? A show?” Winter rolls her eyes, but the corners of her lips slightly curl up. “Sure. I guess.”
Karina puts on some dumb rom-com movie. She pretends she’s watching the movie, but in reality she was staring down Winter the whole time. It was as clear as glass, and Winter could feel her eyes on her. She plays with the fabric on her pajamas, trying to ignore it.
They were an hour into the movie and it had gotten to a point. It felt like a stalker was watching her from behind. She turns her head. Karina turns hers back. She turns her head again. Karina does the same thing. Winter turns around one last time, grabs Karina’s cheeks in one hand and quickly pecks her lips. They both chuckle at the same time. “If you wanted to kiss me so bad just say it,” Karina snickers.
The tips of Winter’s ears go tomato red, her smile grows, and she looks away. “Don’t act like you didn’t want to kiss me too!” Their heads suddenly turn, looking at each other at the same time. They maintain eye contact for a long time. They keep inching closer. And closer.
Both their hearts beat at the same tempo as they close the space between them.
Karina frames Winter’s face with her hands, touch gentle. “Can I?” She nods, arms rested on Karina’s shoulders. They kiss like they haven’t in decades. Winter’s breath hitched, but she leans in even more. Karina smiles against her lips. Winter pulls away for a breath. The movie stays playing in the background. Winter looks down at her lap, and Karina’s eyes stay on her. Karina, in a genuine tone says, “I love you.” Winter blushes, “You’re annoying. I still love you too.” She kisses Winter’s forehead.
”I was gonna come over if you hadn’t texted me anyways.”
