Chapter Text
Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame was a regular Otaku, and didn't care much for love. Until it found her in an almost fantasy way.
She was just coming from the video game store to pick up an old retro game she found online.
She enjoyed retro games a lot more than the modern ones, one of her favorites was The Legend of Zelda. Something about a hero and a princess made her heart always feel warm.
If only she could find her own princess one day, but she never mopped over it. If it happens it happens.
“Thanks again for coming, have a nice night.”
Liz stopped by after her work shift. It made it easier for her since there wasn’t a long line at the game store for the usual modern ones.
She walked out and finally headed home, it was pretty dark out so couldn’t see much in front of her.
The nighttime didn’t make her frightful really, she was a strong woman. Maybe being mugged was scary, but nonetheless she can handle herself.
She was about to turn a street until she bumped into someone in front of her.
She quickly got up and apologized to the stranger in front of her on the ground.
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
Liz offered a hand to the stranger below her. She helped her up with ease.
“No, it’s alright. I should’ve seen where I was going too.”
Elizabeth nodded her head, carefully observing the woman in front of her. She seemed to be coming from somewhere fancy given she had a beautiful blue dress on.
“I didn’t injure you anywhere did I?”
Liz asked. The girl before her shook her head.
“Please do not worry, you didn’t do anything wrong.”
Liz could tell the girl was distraught.
“I hope I’m not prying but do you need any help?”
The girl looked like she was about to cry. Before Liz could react, the girl spoke up again.
“Yes, could I borrow your phone? I just got stood up from a date, which is why I’m dressed like this.”
“Of course, here.” She handed her the phone.
Liz felt bad for the girl, being stood up is never an easy thing.
Liz wouldn’t know about it anyways. All she does is play video games, watch anime, and just go to work. The other half of the day is just sleeping.
Sometimes she wonders what it’s like to go on a date though.
“Yes Shiori, I’m fine. Just frustrated.”
Liz was just standing there trying not to listen in too much out of respect for privacy.
“Yes I’ll be waiting at the bus stop, I will text it from this number.”
Liz looked down at her watch for a moment, letting the girl next to her talk to her friend.
“Yes I know, I know I should stop looking already. And just let it run its course.”
Liz said many times to herself about letting love run its course, but understood the girl too. Sometimes you just wish to be in love with someone one day.
“Thanks again.”
Liz snapped out of her thoughts when she saw the girl returned her phone back to her.
“It’s no problem. Um, do you want me to hang out with you, while you wait for your friend? It’s pretty dark out and I wouldn’t want you to stay out by yourself.”
She blinked in shock, and nodded.
“It would be nice to have company, I am a little afraid to stay by myself here.”
Liz nodded.
“It does get really dark out here all the time during the night.”
“Do you come around here often?”
“Yeah, I was just coming back from a video game store.”
“Ooo you like video games?”
She noticed the package Liz was holding. Liz replied
“I got really into the Zelda franchise recently, better late than never.”
She giggled at Liz, making Liz’s heart soar a bit.
Liz couldn’t understand what that meant, but it also felt nice.
“I’m a fan of Wind Waker, thanks to my brother.”
“I’m trying to play them all on the dates they were released.”
Liz paused and spoke up again.
“By the way.. I hope I’m not asking for anything weird but what’s your name?”
She looked shocked for a bit, probably realizing she forgot to give Liz her name.
“Nerissa. What’s yours?”
Nerissa… something about Nerissa giving Liz her name felt so warm for some reason.
“I’m Elizabeth, but you can call me Liz.”
Before any of them had the time to respond to their names being given, a car pulled up.
“Hey Nerissa! I’m here!”
“This is me, hopefully we can talk again.”
“Of course, be careful driving home.”
“Thank you Liz.”
The way she said her name made her stomach do backflips, Liz couldn’t understand what this meant.
Liz finally made it back home, greeting her roommate Gigi.
“Sigh, I got home too late.”
She wasn’t in the mood to play her game yet, so she headed to bed.
Not understanding why Nerissa made her heart feel warm.
The next day
Elizabeth woke up still adjusting to the light of the day.
Thankfully it’s her day off, so she was able to just stay at home and play her game.
She walked to the kitchen to get some snacks, only to realize they ran out.
“Gigi! We’re out of snacks!!”
“Go get some more then!”
Not wanting to start another argument between rooms, she conceded defeat and got her hoodie on and left the apartment.
Nerissa’s POV
“Nerissa, are you even listening to me?”
“Huh? Oh yeah.”
“Whatcha thinking about? Not about that jerk who stood you up right?”
Nerissa didn’t want to explain to Shiori that she was thinking of the night when she met Liz.
She stayed up all night thinking of Liz for some reason, and she couldn’t understand why.
“Hmm.. is it that girl you were talking about?”
Nerissa’s face turned red.
“No no! I promise it’s not haha..”
Shiori had a smug face on.
“Oh really?? So you wouldn’t mind if I took her for myself? I have her number on my phone now.”
“Y-yeah! Totally! Take her for yourself!”
Shiori hummed.
“Oh really?”
Nerissa didn’t want to accept defeat but she also didn’t want Liz to be with Shiori either.
But she also felt this time she should be slow with her relationships too.
She really wants to see her again…
Liz’s POV
Liz walks to the nearest convenience store and enters looking for some snacks and drinks.
“Elizabeth!! Bau Bau!!”
Liz freaks out at the sound of her name, and calms down seeing it’s only Fuwawa and Mococo.
“Hi Puppies!” Elizabeth greets them.
“We’re not puppies!! We’re demon dogs!” Mococo says angrily.
“Right right, sorry.” Liz laughs.
“What are you both doing here? Haven’t seen you both in a while.”
“We’ve been hanging out with our other friends! You should meet them later!” Fuwawa answered.
“Yeah! They’re picking us up soon!” Mococo chimed in.
“Oh? Maybe I’ll stick around then.”
“Bau Bau!!” They yelled out happily.
Liz got a phone call from Gigi and turned around for a bit.
The same black car from last night pulled up, and upon arrival there was Shiori and Nerissa.
“What Gigi? I’m getting the snacks right now.”
Liz always got irritated with her roommate but she was still a dear friend to her.
“Cecilia? You’re going to have to deal with that on your own Gigi.”
Liz hangs up and goes to pay for the drinks and snacks. She turns, then walks outside, only to freeze in place.
“Here comes Elizabeth now!! Bau Bau!!”
“Hi puppies.”
Nerissa looks to Shiori, who’s just giving her a smug look.
“Ah Hi Nerissa! I didn’t know you knew the demon puppies.”
“We’re dogs!!” Both FuwaMoco got angry at Liz once more.
“Right right.” She chuckles.
“Hey Liz question.”
Liz turns to Shiori and gives her a puzzled look.
“Um yes?”
“Are you single?”
Nerissa quickly says something.
“Shiori oh my god, you can’t just ask that!”
“Why not? Don’t you want to know?”
Liz is confused on what Shiori means and why Nerissa wants to know.
“Erm, I am single. Don’t think I’ve ever had a partner before. Why do you ask?”
Shiori laughs.
“Just curious.”
Liz is even more confused but brushes it off to not bring too much attention.
But why did Liz feel so happy when Nerissa was curious about it.
Why did Liz feel happy about Nerissa at all, they just met..
“Bau Bau!! We should all get going!” Fuwawa spoke up.
“Right right, we’ll see you later Elizabeth~”
Shiori said, ignoring Nerissa who kept telling her to stop.
“Bye you guys.”
Liz waved them off, and felt her heart feeling heavy for some reason.
Why did Nerissa make her feel this way…
Liz walked off back to her apartment to deal with Gigi being upset about CC.
She walked inside hoping to finally play her game.
“Liz!!! Help me!”
She felt Gigi grip her in fear. Liz looked up only to see an angry CC.
“Hello Cecilia. How are you today?”
“Hi Liz, would you happen to hand me that gremlin?”
“Liz, no!! Please don’t hand me to that demon!!”
“I am not a demon.. you hurt me so.”
Liz blinked in confusion wondering why she was in the middle of this. She sighed in exasperation.
“Both of you need to leave to deal with this, I want to play my game today. And I got snacks.”
“Liz, you're so mean. But fine we’ll leave for you to play your game.”
Both CC and Gigi walked out. Liz was left alone with her thoughts once more.
Nerissa’s POV
“Shiori, why do you keep teasing me about Liz? We barely met!”
“Ooohh, does Nerissa have a crush on Elizabeth??”
“No!! I mean.. I’m not sure yet..”
“Because it’s fun seeing you fluster.” Shiori said.
Shiori stopped the car real quick seeing her friend Gigi walk along the sidewalk.
She rolled down her window.
“What are you doing, Shiori?”
“Hi Gigi!!”
Nerissa was so confused on what Shiori was doing.
“Hi Shiorin~! How are you doing?”
“Good just heading out to eat with my friends, why are you and CC walking outside?”
Gigi and CC looked at each other.
“My roommate kicked us out.” Gigi said.
“Ohh. Who’s your roommate? She sounds rude.”
“She’s very kindhearted, she’s just really stressed lately. Her name is Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame.”
Nerissa perked up at hearing Elizabeth’s name.
“Ooh? Elizabeth you say?” Shiori says while she looks at Nerissa, who has a flustered expression.
“Yeah. We’ve been roommates for years now. Do you happen to know her too?”
“Nerissa knows her all too well.” Shiori giggles
“Interesting, how do you know about Liz?” CC asks.
Nerissa had no idea on how to explain this to her friends. It made her heart warm a bit hearing about Liz.
“I met her last night when I got stood up from a date.”
“Ohh, it was probably around the same time Liz got her video game.”
“Yeah she told me about the game she got.”
Gigi had a smug expression, just like Shiori.
“You guys just met and you're already planning babies.”
Gigi blurted out which made Shiori burst out of laughter.
“I don’t think we can have babies!! Ugh you’re like another Shiori.”
Everyone was laughing now.
“Speaking of Liz, do you guys wanna come over?”
“Sure! We can pass by your apartment.”
“Shiori wait!” Nerissa blurts out.
“What’s wrong with it? Don’t you wanna see her?”
Nerissa blushes.
“Yes I do, but she’s at home and we’ll be intruding when she’s busy.”
Gigi chimes in.
“Shes just playing that game she bought yesterday. Video games and anime help her destress. She also collects blue women figures, it’s so funny.”
“Blue women you say?” Shiori laughs at this new information.
“Yeahh, I find it funny.”
Nerissa blushes even more.
“Well I guess we can visit your apartment..” Nerissa says.
“It’s settled then!” Shiori exclaims.
Liz’s POV
Liz is unsure on why Nerissa makes her feel crazy.
She’s never had a partner before, let alone a girlfriend.
No one’s ever made her this way before but she’s way out of her league.
They’re from two different worlds. All she does is watch anime and play video games.
All she does for work is singing at a bar, she barely can make ends meet.
She wasn’t sure anymore.
She heard the door open, hoping CC and Gigi made amends.
She continued staring at the video game on the TV, just ignoring Gigi.
“Lizzz~ I brought home other guests!!”
“Huh?” Liz turns around from the sofa, and sees Nerissa.
Her heart flutters once more.
“Oh, hey everyone again.”
“Bau Bau!! Hi Elizabeth!!” Fuwawa exclaims.
“Bau Bau!!” Mococo chimes in alongside Fuwawa.
“Sorry for the intrusion.” Nerissa speaks up.
Liz blushes.
“No no, it’s okay. Sorry if I knew we would have guests over I would’ve cleaned up.”
She glares a bit at Gigi after that.
“Hehe. You seem mad at me Liz.” Gigi teases.
“I’m not. Just wish I had a heads up.”
Liz sighed after seeing everyone here.
“Please make yourselves at home, I will make tea for you guys.”
“Thank you, I love tea.”
Nerissa smiled at her, which made Liz turn around quickly and blush hard.
Cecilia comes up from behind Liz.
“Hmm… do you like Nerissa? I know we just met her and everything but I feel she’s giving you bedroom eyes every time I see her staring at you.”
“WHAT EYES??”
Liz blushed and yelled, scaring everyone in the house.
“Hehe so there is something, you’re a blushing mess right now.”
Liz turned around to finish making the tea, hoping her red face would just go away.
Nerissa’s POV
Nerissa felt really weird about intruding into Liz’s home like this.
“Liz is usually so shy, I’m surprised she’s able to talk this much with you guys.” Gigi spoke up.
“Elizabeth is always so shy!!” Mococo said.
“Yeah I just met her this morning actually, I’m sorry you never had us meet before Gigi.” Shiori speaks up, side glancing at Nerissa.
“Ah yeah, I respect Liz a lot since she’s mature despite being an otaku. She's just shy so I don’t force her to go out in real life.”
“Fair enough.” Shiori replied.
Liz’s loud outburst from a whispering CC caught them all off guard.
“Haha, CC is probably teasing Liz right now.” Gigi mentions.
“Typical of CC.”
Nerissa speaks up.
“You know Shiori, why haven’t you talked about Gigi and CC before?”
“Eh? I know you’ve been busy lately so I don't wanna bother you to meet anyone.”
Nerissa still looks a bit upset but Shiori just brushes it off.
“Anyways Gigi, tell us more about Liz.”
“Ehh? What’s there to know? More importantly, why do you want to know?”
“Nerissa here has a little crush on her.”
“Ohh, sure, what do you wanna know?”
“Well we know she’s single so maybe Rissa has a chance.”
“Liz only loves anime girls.” Gigi smirks a bit which makes Shiori laugh.
“Haha, you’re such a jokester Gigi.”
“I guess I have to compete with anime girls..”
“It’s okay Rissa, you sound like one sometimes when you Voice act.”
Before Nerissa could say anything else Liz comes back with a tray full of tea cups all filled with tea.
“Here you all go. It’s the least I could do to be slightly hospitable.”
Nerissa looks up at Liz who’s blushing looking away. She smiles softly.
“Thank you Liz.”
“Of course.”
Liz’s POV
Liz decides to sit down on the floor slightly away from the couch.
“Liz, why are you sitting on the floor?” CC asks.
“Ah, because I don’t wanna use up the couches for our guests.”
“Such a gentleman.” Gigi snickers.
Liz frowns at this, she feels she’s just trying to be polite despite being shy.
Yesterday when she helped Nerissa, it was the first time in a while she spoke to anyone.
She was only doing a kind deed for someone.
But at the same time she felt like maybe she’s too much.
Or maybe she just wants to make a good impression for Nerissa and her friends.
She really liked Nerissa, and would really like to ask her out on a date.
“Liz. Tell us about those anime girls you like.” Shiori spoke up.
“Ehhh? I mean I have a lot of figures and posters of a few I like in my room.”
“A few.” Gigi stated.
“Shut.” Liz glared.
“Haha Gigi.” Shiori laughs. “Liz question, have you ever been on a date?”
Liz didn’t know how to answer this. All her life she’s been an outcast and shy.
She’s trying to make an impression for they could like her more but the questions about her seemed..
Like she was being made fun of.
She could be overthinking it too.
She turns to look at Nerissa who's only staring intently at her.
She will probably be judged either way so its whatever.
“Uh no, I don’t really think I’ve been on a date ever.”
“Aw that’s sad, you’re really handsome though so that’s surprising.”
Liz blushed a bit at Shiori’s comment. Being complimented before was something new to her.
“I appreciate the compliment but my self doubts seem to think otherwise.”
“Ehhh? Elizabeth, you can’t just say that about yourself!!” Fuwawa tuned in.
“Liz.. they’re right you don’t need to sell yourself short. You’re a beautiful woman.” Nerissa spoke up. Her compliment made Liz blush more.
“Okay you’re right.. thank you.”
A few moments passed and Liz just wished she could play her game already. Not that she minded everyone’s company, but her social battery dies so quickly.
Liz thought about inviting Nerissa to go on a date but she was really nervous too.
Or she could ask her for her phone number.
Liz was about to speak up to ask her, but then Shiori got up from the couch.
“We should all really get going now, don’t want to take up more of your guys' time.”
“Ah it’s no trouble at all Shiori, thank you for coming to hang out, even if it was a bit out of the blue.”
“It’s no worries, thanks for the tea Liz.”
Liz frowned a bit wishing she could get the courage to ask Nerissa for her number.
“Thank you again Liz.” Nerissa bowed her head in politeness. She turned but before she could. Liz spoke up.
“Nerissa, um..”
“Yes?”
“Do you want to go out on a date tomorrow?”
Liz blurted out what she was wanting to ask in her head and not about the phone number.
She suddenly blushed hard.
“A-ah! Sorry I meant your phone number.. not…”
Nerissa giggled and looked at Liz who was a blushing mess with a warm look.
“I’d love to go out on a date with you Elizabeth.”
Liz sighed a breath of relief thanking it didn’t scare her off.
“Erm, can I get your number as well to text you info?”
Nerissa warmly smiled and blushed lightly, she nodded her head.
“Of course.”
Liz took out her phone and gave it to Nerissa, who gave Liz hers.
They both successfully added each other's phone numbers and gave each other their phones back.
“I’ll text you tonight when I’m done with a job later.”
Liz slightly panicked, did she waste her time...? Maybe she shouldn’t have offered tea...
“Ah it’s no worries, sorry if we kept you from doing anything.”
She laughed, and looked at Liz with caring eyes.
“You didn’t, it’s just a project for something, I don’t have an actual full time job.”
Liz’s panicked state stopped and returned to normal internally.
“Oh okay, that’s good. You should go now, your friends have gone outside already.”
Nerissa nodded, she turned around with her heart beating and took one last look at Liz.
She smiled and then waved her off.
Liz stood there like a love struck puppy. She shook her head, and went back to her video game.
Only realizing she doesn’t have any good outfits to wear tomorrow…
