~ Day seven ~
or was it eight...
...
uh...
what?
...
...
hah...
...
Snap out of it!
...
Easier said than done...
...
uh...
Reach forwards with a hand I'm so thankful I still have.
In my dreams, my limbs look melted with these black monochromatic patterns... it's really quite pretty...
...
Poke through the dream...
Poke through the dream...
Poke through the dream...
The view takes a second to come into focus. The grainy darkness and strange perspective feel almost like watching a security camera. From the top corner of my bedroom, I see something fast asleep in a bed much too large for it. In the tangled mess of limbs and blankets I eventually make out it's colorful form curling around a pillow in a slightly embarrassing position.
heh...small enough to use normal pillows as body pillows... hahah... shortie... hah...
...
uh...
Right. I'm supposed to be waking up.
Open an eye. Doesn't matter which one yet but try to aim for somewhere on my face.
Sliiide the eyelid open...
It makes an audibly wet 'schlick' sound.
...
I think this eye's on one of my wings. Drats. Well, everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? Blink. look around a bit. I don't see anything yet but that's probably because this wing is covered by blankets.
Waking up has never been this much of a task until now.
...
...
...
The strange creature climbs out of it's bed.
/
A glowing aqua eye stares at me from the top corner of my bedroom.
...
I feel kinda dizzy...
...
The strange creature stumbles over itself.
/
Gahh two perspectives at once is really trippy. Pay attention!
...
...
Reach from the dream to help the little creature up?
/
A gigantic hand is grabbing at me. Run!
...
oh, that's just me...
God astral projection dream manipulation fog weaving always trips me up. The way this ability was shunted into my brain one day... it's weird wrong beautiful wrong wrong and so dizzyingly unhuman. Being in the dream and waking world at the same time... I kinda... love it though. Not being human. i love it i love it i love
///////////
The strange creature makes a shrill, manic laugh as this perspective fades away
/
I dunno what I am now but I need most of my human thoughts. Get a hold of yourself!

I'm so happy.
I think.
...
I think I should start from the beginning.
Seven... or eight days ago, I was laying in bed mid-afternoon. I wasn't intending on sleeping, I was merely daydreaming. Daydreaming about a fictional reality where I'm not the one who has to deal with reality... Something was wrong. I couldn't stop. My mind was wandering into places with clarity I was humanly unable to picture. A dream more vivid than reality. It was beautiful. And terrifying. I fell into a deep, lucid sleep, and nightmares that would've been chasing me were running away from the light beyond my eyelids. Nothing obeyed anything.
Fear. Fear that if I didn't stop dreaming right then and there, I wouldn't wake up ever again. A thick film had been wedged between my consciousness and my body. I didn't put it there. I would have if I could, but I didn't. On that principle alone, I steeled myself to scratch and scratch and scratch until something gave.
I opened my eyes to find the culprit making it's escape. Beautiful living colors in the sky through my open window. Stuck between fearing and thanking my failed benefactor, the trees made the decision for me. They twisted and unfurled into vibrant limbs, congealing into gigantic masses that blotted out the beautiful sky. I almost thought I was still dreaming. I... I...
I then noticed what happened to my body.
no amount of dissociation could've denied the reality of my body.
I think if I wasn't asleep while it happened, I would've gone completely nuts! Another reason to thank the colors for keeping me asleep. They wanted me cognizant. Maybe.
Something might have wanted me alive?
I'll take a reason to exist. A purpose! A fate! {Haha}!
...
...
I think I'm getting off track here.
To finally start the day, I open my bedroom door to be greeted with a familiar fog-filled hallway. It's just a bit too dense to make out the end, but i don't need to. This is my house, after all. Everybody knows the layout of their own house! Dunno if my room's closet always went to the attic but it feels right so I try not to think about it. Normal house stuff. Probably. Minus the fog. I know that's my doing.
With most of my eyes closed from grogginess, I knowingly open the bathroom door. I'm the only sapient thing living here right now so I don't bother closing it behind me... That might be a bad habit to start...
After pulling over a little wooden stool to stand on, I take a minute to just stare into the bathroom mirror...
...
I don't feel sick as I should.
...
Uhhhh... It's kind of hard to describe what I look like. A shameless part of me would say 'sparkledog'? Or sparklefur. I forget the terminology. Lots of little bits and bobs that add up to a cluttered, artsy aesthetic.
Alright, Here we go. To describe what I look like...
Most notable would be the plume of magical fog that somewhat inconveniently pours upward from my head at all times. After that... milky and iridescent like a pearl, my pastel rainbow fur covers the majority of my body. The colors contrast my monochrome-themed parts very well- like a thick, white rat tail twisting into sparse buds of more tails. My huge ears have this... black and slimy-looking inner 'fluff' that my lopsided crow wings are also made of. The wings are also both lined with eyes (not gonna elaborate on that one right now). All my eyes are almost ghostly with large aqua pupils. (neat!)
The fur was heavenly soft for the first couple days after my transformation, but now it's starting to clump together a bit. One of these days I gotta get my hands on, like, a gallon of pet shampoo.
If it ended there, most people would say I look pretty cute. (I can even make my eyes twinkle on demand!) Unfortunately, there's a small detail that I think... complicates the look.
The left side of my body might be... sliiiightly... uh... (god how to I put this.....) vertically bifurcated. (I think I turned a little while I was transforming?) Well... uh... Yes, I'm technically tripedal. Two left legs and two left arms. It's not an even split. No, I don't know how this all works. Uh... Y'know what? I don't wanna talk about it anymore. I didn't plan on ever telling anyone offline that I'm a furry. For now I'm just going to... not bring it up? That secret's probably a lost cause.
At least I have an arm and a leg to spare. I gotta make that joke sometime.
...
...
What was I doing here?
oh right.
I grab a roll of toothpaste with my left hand while my second left hand reaches over to grab my toothbrush. The movement is a little awkward, but it's probably for the best that I practice using my new limbs as much as possible. I'm not sure how much it's worth brushing my teeth in this body anyways but I'll at least go through the tube I've already opened. It's not gonna last too long, anyways.
My 'front' mouth is fairly standard for a mammal. I've gone back and forth on this but my face looks like weird giant hamster (maybe). As is a common trend with most infected... or 'witnesses' as people online have started calling us, opening my mouth wider reveals many, many sharp teeth. Thankfully not any extra rows in my case, but it's more than enough to be rather inconvenient to clean. I have to be careful to not scratch myself while brushing between the jagged edges.
...
After I rinse and spit, I just stare into the mirror wondering if I should even bother brushing the second mouth. You wouldn't know I had one, as when I close my extra facial features they just look like ruffled fur on an otherwise symmetrical head shape.
...
Let's see the damage...
Like a grotesque zipper, a line starting at my lower throat begins to part revealing teeth and gums as it goes. It travels up past my neck onto the side of my head, curving horizontally to a roughly level position- as if correcting itself. Aside from gums and teeth, the inside is unseeable. No tongue. No uvula. Only darkness and fog all the way in.
Despite my disgust I keep opening it. It travels across the side of my head and under my hanging ear fluff. I turn to get a better angle. aa wave of disorientationnnn has to be stuffed ddown as my perspective sshifts. The top half of my face creases forwards. Like peeling open a soft egg.
ii wheeze as tthe mouth finishes opening clear past the bacck of my head. A thick cloud of fog jjets out from somewhere insidde, hanging in the air.
i still can'tt bbelieve thiss is reall. tthere are no innards. No bbrain. mmy thoughts still feel like theyy come from my head, but there's clearly just a voidd there. not nnothiing, a void.
my mindd aches..
i once stuck a really long broom in there and it didn't reach anything.
when i pulled it out it was mangled and warped. Shaded.
....tthis might be an excuse to ssttop looking at it stop looking stop looking but i don't want to drop my toothbrush in there and have to start using ssomeone else's.
My nerves ease up as the mouth retraces itself closed. Literally and figuratively screwing my head back on.
...
...
With that task wussied out of, I no longer have any reason to linger in the bathroom.
Onto tending to my many, many new responsibilities...
