Touch That Pitch

Summary:

Akito rolls up to a performance in a crop top. Toya has a perfectly normal reaction to this information.

Notes:

This is for the ‘fashion’ prompt for day 1 of Akitoya Week!

akito's an7 card gave a hilariously large portion of pjsktwt stage 5 victorian ankle syndrome so it was only right that i channel that energy into toya

Work Text:

“Ugh, Akito's taking forever!” An complained aloud. It was about an hour ago that he sent the text confirming he was on his way to Vivid Street, yet he was still nowhere to be found even as various teams began trickling into the live house.

“Calm down, An-chan…” Kohane soothed from her sulking partner's side, planting herself into the adjacent seat of the couch she was throwing her tantrum on. “We still have 30 minutes before it's time for us to go on.”

“It's rather unusual for Akito to show up late, though.” Toya commented from the side, earning the best ‘Told you so!’ gesture An could manage from her slumped position. “I should make sure he's alright.”

Lucky for them, it was only a moment later that the backdoor to the live house burst open to disprove their worries.

“Sorry for the wait, guys.” Akito huffed as he kicked shut the door behind him, arms occupied with his usual bag. “Ena stole most of the drinks I got, so I had to take a detour...”

“You're laaaate.” An bemoaned as Akito plopped down on the opposite end of the couch, position unchanged as she groaned obnoxiously at her teammate.

“Am not.” Akito immediately huffed back, smacking her in the leg with one of the sneakers he produced from his bag. “They ain't even callin’ people onstage yet.”

“You're late to being early.” An reflected cheekily, kicking her foot into Akito's side and earning a sharp ‘Ow!’ – to which her victim grabbed her shoe by the underside of the toecap and pettily shoved it back away.

“We're just happy to see you're alright, Akito. I was starting to get worried.” Toya interjected with his pure-as-ever smile. “And it was very considerate of you to make sure we'd keep hydrated. Wasn't it, Shiraishi?”

“Gh…” Akito and An both grumbled; one of those moments where they had no way of knowing if Toya intended to mediate their bickering or if he was simply that earnest.

“25 minutes ‘til we get started, guys!” One of the live house workers happened to shout from the sidelines, to which Akito mumbled out a quick curse as he proceeded to speed-tie his dancing shoes.

“Kohaneeee~ Help me touch up my makeup!” An demanded as she swung to her feet as well, prompting her partner to follow behind her like a loyal puppy until they disappeared into the dressing room.

“Jeez…” Akito groaned, the pouty scowl on his face deepening as he stood up. “And she wants to give me shit for not being ready?”

“I don't think she means it.” Toya mused as his grumbling partner stuffed his previous pair of shoes into his bag. “You're just easy to… tease…”

“...Toya? You good?” Akito cocked a brow in the middle of unzipping his sweatshirt, oblivious to the fact that it was this very act that had stolen his partner's attention. After all, it was only upon shedding his jacket that he could reveal he was wearing a crop top beneath.

Usually, Akito bundled himself in layer after layer of clothing – baggy sweatpants and at least two or three jackets or hoodies, with lots of accessories to boot. Even when the summer months hit and their school uniforms changed, he'd always keep his slightly-too-large shirt untucked as a sort of substitute.

There were a few occasions where he'd wear lighter clothes to their performances, but they were few and far between. If he deigned to show skin, it was usually just his arms from the elbow down or a tiny sliver of his navel. Not this time, though – here he had his entire midsection just out and proud for the whole world to see.

What with the shirt stopping right where his sternum began and nary a jacket or even a compression sleeve to cover up the empty space, your eyes were immediately drawn to his exposed midriff – and my, was it a mystery for the ages how easily his waist got lost in those hoodies. Toya knew he should've stopped staring at it, but unfortunately he'd have to figure out how to kickstart his short-circuiting brain first.

Akito always had a nice body – at least in Toya's eyes. He put effort into maintaining his fitness with a daily regimen, and his diligence showed especially well like this. His build wasn't drastically muscular, but the difference was like night and day in comparison to Toya.

His arms were noticeably thicker from his strength training, but for the most part, Akito was all lean muscle; and since the rest of him was rather toned, you might expect a set of abs to lay beneath his shirt. Instead, however, a neat layer of softness tucked over his stomach in just the right proportion – no doubt due to his affinity for sweets. A touch of cute squishiness to his sturdy, athletic body that did nothing to dispel Toya's urge to soar forward and touch.

“...Oh, my outfit?” Akito seemed to puzzle things together to a degree – though it wasn't exactly difficult when Toya would've burned a hole through his stomach if he stared any harder. “Yeah, I felt like gettin’ experimental, but I'm not too sure about it either.”

Akito casually tugged upon the hem of his shirt while he spoke, a gesture that made sure Toya's mind and heart would never recover from this in a billion years. If the sight of Akito's exposed stomach left Toya stunned, the fleeting glimpse he got of his ever-so-slightly muscled chest as the fabric crested and troughed against his skin was an electric chair sentence.

“...Guess I should keep the jacket on-”

“No!” Toya suddenly protested with uncharacteristic desperation – a tidbit Akito must have caught as well, if his widened eyes spoke to anything. “You look good, Akito.”

“Y'think so…?” Akito glanced back downward at his outfit, taking noticeable pride in his partner's compliment – though it shone through his slightly colored cheeks more than the look on his face.

“Guess I'll give it a shot, then.” Akito declared with a decisive huff, holding up his arm toward Toya in a show of renewed confidence. “Thanks, partner.”

“Y…yes, of course.” Toya swallowed the frog in his throat, managing to tear his eyes away from Akito's stomach just long enough to bump his own arm against the younger's in their signature gesture.

It was only when they went onstage that Toya realized he made a horrible mistake. They'd been through this choreography so many times that putting it into practice should've been instinctual – but unfortunately, all the repetition in the world had no hope of mattering when Toya's head was this far removed from orbit.

It was embarrassingly obvious in hindsight; that running through an entire routine in a crop top would entail flapping fabric and muscles flexed. But it wasn't Toya's fault entirely – formulating even a single useful thought about the sight currently before him was a Herculean task in that moment, let alone putting to use any powers of foresight.

The way the powerful movements of Akito's hips and legs made his muscles tense and slacken on loop … The limber manner in which he maneuvered his body offering up a sinful view of where the curve of his spine led up to his shoulderblades… What was ordinarily the energetic dancing style Toya innocently admired had become a tool of provocation unlike any other.

“Ow!” An grunted out – thankfully with her mic pointed away – when Toya absentmindedly collided with her. Luckily, both of them were positioned at the back without any lines to sing for this bar, so Toya had the leeway to mouth out a quick ‘Sorry, Shiraishi’ before they stumbled their way to recovery.

Still, no apology could ease the fact that he'd messed up their performance because he was too busy staring at Akito. Even when they changed positions and the boy himself tucked past Toya, he delivered a pat on the shoulder as if telling him to get his head in the game. If only he knew that he was the reason it had ballooned into the clouds…

Miraculously, they ended up winning their round of that night's competition, though Toya was acutely aware that they could've given a far better performance were it not for his… problems. The sight of Akito showing skin was rare, but it wasn't exactly the first time Toya had witnessed it either, so the puzzle of why he'd suddenly become so affected by his partner's attire was a complete mystery to him.

God, did he look amazing, though… When they got further into their set and the effects of rigorous adrenaline set in, sweat dripping down Akito's stomach and collar in rolling beads while his gorgeous face glowed with passionate intensity… He really wanted to li-

“Oi, Toya.” suddenly called Akito – speak of the devil – with a punctuating sling of his arm around his partner's shoulder. To be frank, Toya wasn't sure if the appropriate reaction was to be grateful that he cut off whichever path that train of thought was going down or panic that the very reason he'd boarded it was awaiting him at the station.

“You feelin’ okay, dude? You seemed kinda distracted out there.” Akito pointed out the galactically obvious, scrutinizing his partner's face with all his typical worrywarting. “You're not gettin’ sick again, are you…? I told you I'd make you take time off if you pushed yourself.”

“N-no, it's nothing like that.” The words stumbled from Toya's mouth rather clumsily. Perhaps his answer would've been more definitive if it weren't for the fact that his current state was certainly confusing enough to consider illness a possibility…

“You say that, but you're obviously nervous about somethin’...” Akito huffed, readjusting both his hands so he could give Toya's hair a good ruffle. “C'mon, you know you can tell me what's up.”

…Well, he said that, but Toya wasn't sure how he was supposed to articulate that Akito himself was the cause of his woes. Especially when the younger deigned to stand up, their proximity offering an even closer view of his exposed stomach on a silver platter.

“A-Akito…” Toya squeaked out, his display of exceedingly obvious flusterment as embarrassing as it was rare. “Do you mind putting your jacket back on?”

“Hah…?” Akito's face scrunched up in confusion, tugging upon the fabric – lord, somehow the underside of his chest looked even nicer the second time – as he tried to connect the dots. “My outfit's buggin’ you after all? You could've just told me it sucked, man.”

“No, that isn't it.” Toya shook his head – though he was embarrassed, he wouldn't let Akito believe the lie that he looked bad in his get-up. “It's been, um… affecting me, is all.”

There was a moment of silence between them. Akito stared down at Toya with a brow quizzically cocked, while Toya had to force himself to convince the ground was far more interesting to look at right now - until finally, Akito seemed to add everything up in his head.

“Pfft…”

Huh…?

“So you like it too much is what you're sayin’.” Akito concluded, leaning down until he was face-to-face with his partner. His tone was teasing – well, Akito never teased Toya, but there were occasions here and there where he poked fun at his chronic earnestness, if only to help him realize there was no point in trapping himself inside his own head.

Still, this time, it seemed more… purposeful. Like it amused him to realize Toya was having less-than-polite desires that were starting to eat him alive.

“Ah… I'm sorry.” Toya ended up muttering – mostly because he was barely even sure if Akito's assessment was correct or not. He did really like the way Akito looked in the crop top, but it hardly seemed appropriate to admit to himself that he'd been staring for such a crude reason, and he was sure Akito himself wouldn't appreciate knowing he was being shamelessly gawked at-

“Sorry for what?” Akito chuckled, a palm upon his partner's forehead forcing Toya to look him in the eye. “It's totally natural to feel like that, man. If anything, I'd probably be offended if you didn't.”

“Really…?” Toya's eyes widened until the sparkles within burst into glitter, like it was somehow completely out of the question that he was allowed to feel attracted to his boyfriend.

“Obviously.” Akito scoffed with endearment toward his adorably naïve partner, once again moving the hand upon his forehead into two-toned locks as he spoke – though this time, he gave him a pair of simple pats. “In fact…”

Akito looked toward the door of the dressing room, then back to Toya with that particular glint in his eye – the kind he got when he was making fun of Kohane's photography or telling Tsukasa there was a bug crawling up his shirt. Toya could only stare like a dumb puppy waiting for a command in the face of it, failing to catch Akito's intent until suddenly his own hand was filled with the warm sensation of another's skin.

“An went with Kohane on a snack run, and we've got a hot minute ‘til we need to be onstage again…” Akito hummed, though it was tough for Toya to register his words when his hand was currently pushed flat against Akito's stomach. “If you wanna get it all outta your system, now's the time.”

Was Toya dreaming?

“Th-that's…” Toya stammered nervously, to which Akito continued to pet his hair as though trying to soothe a sulking pup. “Are you sure?”

“You're way too modest for your own good, y'know that?” Akito sighed, all his features settling into that exasperation Toya knew quite well. “It's pretty obvious you want me, but you won't bite the hook no matter what… I'm tellin’ you it's fine.”

Admittedly, Toya did have a bit of a problem with prioritizing his own wants. Realistically, he knew it was next to impossible for Akito to get mad at him, yet there was always a voice in the back of Toya's head tugging upon his invisible leash – especially since they'd started dating, flipping the meaning of every little word and gesture on its head.

Akito, in contrast, excelled far too much at taking what he wanted as he pleased. Toya could feel – literally feel – the lack of hesitation in his partner. In his eyes, nothing needed to matter apart from the fact that they wanted each other. No matter what form that desire took, he was willing to accept everything Toya wanted from him and push back tenfold in return.

With that in mind, Toya came to the conclusion that there was only one course of action to take. If he wanted to keep being the best possible partner for Akito, he'd have to get better at seizing opportunities as they came.

“Whoa.” Akito suddenly grunted as Toya toppled onto his knees, both the older's hands now resting on either side of his waist. Gently yet firmly – like he was testing the waters, the idiot – Toya squeezed the flesh of his partner's hips, the little ‘Wow…’ that subsequently tumbled from his lips turning Akito's bewilderedness back into endearment in seconds flat.

Just the right mix of tension and suppleness – exactly what Toya had been envisioning in the back of his mind as he stared at Akito's back the entire night. He could spend all day like this, thumbs outstretched to trace circles into the skin of Akito's stomach while his palms enjoyed the soothing heat off his hips… He'd barely done anything and he was already in utter heaven.

“...”

“Wh- Toya?!”

Starting with a mere fleeting thought of how nice Akito's slightly tan, unblemished skin looked, the locomotive of Toya's previously abandoned train of thought suddenly crashed into its destination at full force. The result was the tiniest ‘chu’ sound as Toya pressed a smooch just shy of Akito's belly button.

Though Akito turned red as the act was performed upon him, he didn't give a word of protest as Toya littered kiss after kiss upon his stomach in repetition. He did it with such fervent reverence that Akito was left wondering how the hell this was the same guy who was terrified to so much as lay a hand on him seconds ago.

Oh well. This was nearly word for word what he asked for, so there was no point in pretending like he had any intention of running from Toya's affections now that they'd caught up to him.

“Toya…” Akito repeated for no particular reason, knees going weak regardless when the boy in question looked up into his eyes with such blatant adoration.

“You're incredible.” Toya purred out nice and sweet, seeming to effortlessly read every thought that dared to grace his partner's head. He punctuated his words by setting right back to work, this time pausing to suck a bruise right where he'd initially kissed Akito's skin.

“Dude…” Akito finally found it in him to complain, though he still made no effort to push his partner away. “If you leave a mark, then I have to cover up.”

“...That's alright.” Toya reasoned upon pulling away with the tiniest smack of lips. “If they're easy to hide, then I can leave as many as I want, right?”

He seriously just let a demon off its leash, didn't he…

Sensing Akito had no intention of further protest, Toya hummed as he placed his lips right next to the purple mark which had already bloomed. With the tiniest bit of suction, he easily left an identical bruise next to the original, fluttering another kiss where the younger's skin had been rendered sensitive by his hand – or mouth, more aptly.

Toya always had a tendency to pick up random skills like it was nothing, and unfortunately Akito had come to realize giving hickeys was one of them. It was one thing for the occasional blemish to pop up on his neck while they made out, but the way his stomach was decorated with such laser-like precision was a different beast entirely.

The weirdest part was that it felt good. Not just the physical sensation of Toya's lips upon his skin – that he knew very well – but the accompanying feelings which stirred up his heart. He wasn't so dumb that he'd miss the reverence his partner always regarded him with, but to have Toya quite literally worshipping him like this was far more of an ego boost than he anticipated.

“...C'mere.” Akito deigned to mutter with a tug upon Toya's collar. It was a brief shock when the older shot to his feet with record speed, even more so when a pair of cool hands shamelessly slithered their way into his shirt to feel up his back. Right when Akito had decided now was the time to take charge, he'd suddenly been boxed into the nearest wall with extremely obvious intent.

“I can kiss you, right?” Toya dared an attempt at composure, to which Akito had to bite down the urge to burst out laughing.

“You're askin’ that now?” chuckled Akito, taking advantage of their position to yank Toya's body flush with his. “You already kissed me everywhere but my lips, stupid.”

“Oh… I suppose I did.” Toya glanced downward to the best of his abilities, a touch of color returning to his cheeks as he took in the sight of his handiwork. It was always adorable when he got like this – so overexcited to love Akito that he leapt far beyond where he was capable of looking.

Suddenly, Akito picked up on the brief chime of a notification. Apart from how utterly stupid it was to leave the power on what with their special friends having the power to pop out of the screen whenever they wished, that was probably the girls texting that they were almost to the live house, which in turn meant they had to get back onstage soon…

“Akito…”

…Eh, fuck it, this was more important.

“You gonna kiss me or not, man?” Akito huffed with feigned impatience. Of course, Toya responded by diligently pushing their lips together, a pleased hum shared between them in dissonance as they slotted together like they were made for it.

As always, Akito tasted sweet. It mingled well with the lingering aftertaste of bitter iced coffee, enhancing what was already a sensation so heavenly Toya could never tire of it. He'd heard many a tale of how kissing didn't feel nearly as electric as books and movies described, but every kiss he managed to steal from Akito made delightful work of proving them false.

“Mmf-” Akito made a tiny, unintelligible noise when Toya kissed him deeper, pale hands naturally reembarking on their wandering path across the younger’s back. His skin was surprisingly soft and smooth – no doubt another indicator of how well he cared for his body – and to say Toya refused to get enough of it would be the biggest understatement of the century.

His palms trailed back Akito's sides, briefly making the younger jolt when fingertips brushed into ticklish skin, until Toya could once again caress his partner's waist. In the same moment, his own giggle interrupted his attempt to catch breath, subsequently darting out his tongue to pry Akito's lips back open.

Something akin to a squeak passed from Akito's mouth into Toya's, but he parted the barrier of his teeth regardless. In a somewhat clumsy motion, their tongues began to entangle, distracting Akito just nicely enough for Toya to trail a pair of fingertips up the younger's spine.

Akito shivered at the touch; Toya savored each shock. He went back to smoothing his palms over Akito's skin on loop, starting upon his shoulderblades before swooping along a trail down to his hips and back up again. Akito could feel the full-bodied scrutiny within Toya even as the older pushed to suckle on his tongue, and it was starting to become embarrassing as all hell.

Toya did well to remain acutely aware of even the tiniest reactionary twitch, engraving every little act Akito committed into his brain as though he were transcribing the holiest of hymns in real time. And truth be told, that was exactly how he saw it. He adored even the most microscopic inflections of Akito's demeanor; regarded it as more sacred than anything else.

“Bwuh…” Toya made a mindless noise the next time he pulled back, immediately burying himself into the crook of Akito's neck as the younger began to pant. “Akito… You're so amazing.”

“Your voice… Your body…” Toya continued in a tone that could only be described as loopy, punctuating each word of praise by lazily trailing kisses upon Akito's neck. “You. You're perfect, Akito.”

“Toya…” The name just bumbled from Akito's lips – for the sake of acknowledgement or otherwise, he had no time to think about when Toya began to suck yet another hickey into the space between his collar and shoulder.

Every instinct in Akito's body told him to simply melt into the feeling of Toya mouthing at his neck; to let go and take each sensation as they came crashing into him like the rise and fall of waves upon the shoreline. The rest of the world could sink into some uglier corner of itself for all he cared – everything he wanted, needed and longed for was right here in his arms.

Unfortunately, though, reality always has a way of knocking on your door when it's least convenient.

“Akitooo! Toyaaa!” An called out from behind the dressing room door – because of course she did. At this point, it was basically a running gag throughout their relationship for them to get interrupted right when they were at their most blissful.

Predictably, Akito broke away like it was a matter of life and death – though the thought that he could push off so easily, yet chose to let himself be pinned to the wall and kissed breathless didn't fail to cross Toya's mind.

Knowing he'd get laughed into oblivion were An to catch him with a slew of hickeys on his stomach, Akito scrambled around the immediate vicinity for something to cover himself up with. Lucky for him, Toya was several steps ahead, tossing up the very jacket that made the reveal which started all this. In juxtaposition to Akito's panic, he found the neat closure rather satisfying.

“We've got snacks!” An declared as she threw open the door, just in time for Akito to finish zipping up his jacket. “Let's recharge before they call us up for the next round!”

“Y-yeah. Thanks.” Akito stammered out. He was visibly doing his best to play it cool, but it's a little hard to shake the humiliation of almost getting caught making out sloppy style with your partner in the dressing room.

“...Are you two okay?” Kohane asked with a tilted head, because obviously this was an utterly fantastic time to be intuitive and empathetic. “You're both acting a little strange.”

“Yeah, no kidding!” An nodded in agreement, expression drifting into a smirk when her gaze shifted from Kohane to Akito. “What, did you guys get in a fight?”

“The opposite, actually.” Toya responded as naïvely as ever, driving the final nail into their coffin by failing to detect her obvious sarcasm.

“Toya!” Akito objected in the same tone you'd use to tell off your dog, though that accomplished nothing but sending An into a fit of howling laughter.

“...Oh, they're calling out team names.” Toya noted before he could even ponder what he'd done wrong. “We should go now.”

Agreed.” Akito huffed pettily, not a moment wasted as he strode toward the dressing room door and swung it open.

“Aww, don't get mad, Akito!” An decided to poke the bear even as they trickled out into the main part of the live house. “I think it's cute how sweet you are on Toya.”

“I'm gonna punch you.”

“Sure you're not too tired from punching Toya with your mouth?”

“To be honest, I was doing most of the punching.”

Toya...!”
