Chapter Text
Day 1
Harry woke to heat and thirst. He could hear waves crashing against something and water hitting him every now and then. He woke up and sat up. He was on a barren, small island. A screen appeared in front of him, telling him that he needed to expand his island, gather resources, protect his island, and survive. He looked around. What resources? He rubbed his head and looked through the functions on the screen. He was told that he needed to fish for resources to expand and build his island.
He went to his Inventory and saw a fishing rod. He pulled it out, and right when he was about to start fishing, another screen appeared in front of him.
Daily Log-In Reward Ready!
Log-In?
"Huh?" Harry asked. "I mean, yes. Log-In."
Log-In Successful!
Automatic Fishing Rod (White)
Can be upgraded
Gathers resources automatically
Comes with its own base
Harry was shocked and surprised. He set that up and cast his line on the worn fishing rod in his hands. The new one got him resources. This one could get him fish. Which was food. It wasn't long before his Auto Rod was reeling in resources. He relaxed and looked at the crafting screen again. He found what he was looking for.
Island expansion.
1 square meter for 2 units of soil and 5 units of Stone.
Expands Island, but it comes out just as barren as the island you have now
Could he fish up soil? He already had some stone. The resources were sorting into piles behind him. He looked over what he had. When sure enough, he fished up some soil. He checked the screen again.
Island Reinforcement
1 Cubic Meter
10 Soil
3 Weeds
3 Sawdust
Hardens ground to level 1, the reinforced ground gains defense, durability and a chance for a resource to appear on top.
"That's just werid." Harry muttered. "Oh hey, I can make a wooden fence for 1 Wood and 1Rope. I have that." He read through carefully and nodded as he did so. "So I just place the fence, and it grows with the island. Good. Better start bolstering my defenses now." He made it, and the island soon had a rickety wooden fence around it.
Wooden Fence
1 Wood
1 Rope
"Ugh, this is going to be a lot of work." Harry sighed.
He opened the chat function and found that others were going on about resource drops appearing on their islands at noon. He looked around and at the clock. It was 11:59. It ticked over, and two chests appeared on his island. He opened the first one and found x3 Stone, x3 Soil, x10 Wood, xWeeds, x1 Packet Bread, and x1 Water. The second crate gave x8 Soil, x10 Stone, x8 Wood, x9 Weeds, 2 Packet Bread, and x1 Water.
"You are not helping me with those water drops." Harry huffed.
The crates themselves vanished. Harry found out that he could use his screen to grind one wood down into 2 sawdust. He decided to try his luck on Fortification. He started on the South side of the island and used everything he had to his name at the moment to Fortify. With the Auto Rod still dragging up resources for him, he almost had enough to cover the entire 20-square-meter island. He was told that resources might actually start appearing on those bits now. He grabbed his worn fishing line and reeled in a small fish. He hit it until it died and soon had x2 Fish Bones, x1 Ocean Crystal, and x2 units of fish meat. He learned from Chat, just by reading, that the Ocean Crystal was the money of this new world. He put it all in his Inventory because he didn't have a fire at the moment. He should look into making that when he got some more wood.
He kept fishing for lack of anything else to do. The bread, when he tasted it, was a round, hand-sized piece of hard and obviously stale bread.
"Am I getting Azkaban rations?" Harry wondered with a huff. He looked to check the Auto Rod. Then looked to see that weeds now covered his island. He quickly went and collected all of them. They began growing again. "So this is my life now? Well, that's fine, I suppose." He plopped back down and continued reading chat while fishing. "Its certinally peaceful here."
He crafted himself a Fish Bone Knife.
Fish Bone Knife
x2 Fish Bones
Then smirked and crafted five more. He bought up the Trade Channel, made himself anonymous, and posted them for trade.
Fish Bone Knife willing to bargain.
He watched the chat debate about the knives and how he had them so soon. Harry, for his part, was wondering how everyone could be so stupid and not have them. Had no one found their rods? Or killed the fish? Or found the crafting screen?
He was amused when it was his own cousin, Dudley, who bought a knife first.
You've lost a Fish Bone Knife
You've gained x1 Sweet Roll and x2 Cloth
He rolled his eyes. Next was Hermione.
You lost a Fish Bone Knife
You've gained x4 Seaweed and x2 Kelp
So Hermione was here too? Was everyone? He checked how many people were in this world. It was far more than Earth had on it. So everyone was here. Interesting. He mused in his head that maybe some of the people who'd died were back. That maybe one day, he might be able to see Sirius, Remus, his parents, and Severus again. His eyes suddenly shot open. He sat bolt up.
"System, did everyone get their own island? What about children?!" Harry cried.
SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT! Children that are not claimed are on an orphanage island. Resources are scarce. Please claim your children.
"I CLAIM TEDDY REMUS LUPIN!" Harry cried.
Harry soon had a blue-haired, amber-eyed bundle of a two-year-old sitting on his lap, clinging to him and crying. Teddy was holding a wolf plush in his arms.
"Try take Mooy!" Teddy bawled.
"Someone tried to take Mooney from you on the Island?" Harry asked, trying to soothe his baby.
Teddy looked up at him and grinned. He clung to him happily and quit crying altogether. Harry chuckled and helped Teddy drink some water. He found Andromedea's name and sent her a message.
I claimed Teddy. He's right here with me. I have fences on my island, so he can't get into the sea. I've added you to my friends list. Accept, and you'll be able to see my name, but you know who this is. I'm sending you a Fish Bone Knife to kill fish and defend yourself, and some fish meat. I'll take good care of him.
Over on another island, Andromeda drew a sigh of relief after reading the message. She accepted the friend request and saw that it was indeed Harry who had her grandson. The moment she accepted, a call came through, and she was smiling with tear-filled eyes as she saw Harry and Teddy on an island full of weeds.
"FISH!" Teddy cheered, holding up a fish. "Ganma, I fish!"
"Good job, Teddy." She praised. "You be a good boy and help Harry out, okay? Grandma will call you at bedtime."
"K, Ganma!"
Andromeda ended the call and touched her heart. She'd been about to have a heart attack when she was told that Teddy had already been claimed. For a wild minute, she'd been thinking that maybe her daughter and son-in-law were alive again. Maybe her husband. But then Ted wouldn't have known Teddy's name. He'd died a few weeks before Teddy was born. Teddy would be safe with Harry. She didn't have to worry about him right now.
