A pebble dropped from the ground above, a slight rumble emitting from the ground upon its arrival. It was unsettling, that was the only noise that could be heard. The cave was quiet, too quiet. You could hear a pin drop if you listened carefully enough. Dust surrounded the cave, not one open area of pure oxygen was left. However, it was bearable enough, it would have to do.
Xqree sat infront of a radio, trying to turn it back on and hear the sweet sound of civilization once more. At this point, it was futile. But he’d rather keep trying than sit fruitlessly in the darkness of this otherworldly cave. A campfire crackled in from behind the radio, as he sat on a log with the little materials he had. Turning knobs and changing channels did absolutely nothing, until he turned the knob a certain direction. Xqree heard a voice..A monotone voice. One he grew to know and love, was it Falsity? He immediately turned to the blue ball, noting how he seemed alive now. However, Xqree knew better than to just trust any blue ball. How could he know this was his friend? Before he could think further, Falsity snapped him out of his thoughts.
“Friend, where are we?” The small sphere asked, his voice monotoned but still concerned. Xqree looked back toward the radio, then back at the ball.
“I don’t know…I was hoping you would?” Xqree asked, with a slight tinge of hope. If this was really his friend, he’d probably have no clue where they were. He hoped he wouldn’t have a clue. As unhelpful as it was, he missed his best friend. After some incoherent mumbling from the smaller sphere and lip smacking, the sphere turned to Xqree, with a smile he replied:
“I think we’re in the end dimension.” Falsity said matter-of-a-factly. Xqree could practically burst into tears right now. He immediately leaned over and scooped up the small ball, smiling widely. “I don’t know why I expected a real answer from you.” Xqree replied, his voice softer now. He was so happy to see his friend was back, petting the smaller ball by gently rubbing above its face. Falsity smiled wider, leaning into the touch.
“So, tell me, what was it like?” Xqree began, bringing the ball closer to his face. “What was it like while you were unconscious?” Still holding that gentle smile, he’d continue to gently and slowly rub the sphere’s head. Falsity frowned, recalling his darker days. “It was dark. I couldn’t see or hear anything…” He began, turning away. “I kept thinking that, you would come back, but…Then I stopped thinking that.”
Xqree immediately tried to chime in and tell him wrong, but Falsity interrupted him. “Who would want a model like me if I’m just…Always wrong?” Falsity looked down at the rocky terrain beneath them, hoping it’d hold all the answers. Little did he know, all the answers were hidden behind Xqree’s pale loving white eyes.
“Me.”
“I do.”
Xqree stated factually, leaving no room for doubt. Falsity immediately looked back up at him, his cheeks turning a darker shade of blue. Xqree leaned closer.
“I do Falsity. I don’t want just any model, I want you. My friend.” Xqree held Falsity so gently while he spoke, like he was an artifact. Falsity immediately smiled once again, smiling at Xqree’s tender words.
Before Xqree could react, Falsity turned into his humanoid form, his head in Xqree’s hands, and his body sat on the floor. He had blue hair with a sticky note taped on his fluffy blue hair with his regular ball form face drawn on it. His skin was blue as well, but lighter than his hair was. He had on a white button up with oversized sweater sleeves that ran past his slim claw-like hands. He had baggy sweats covering his blue legs, and black shoes on his feet. He was without a doubt abnormal, but Xqree only grew more and more accustomed to him. Falsity wore a needy expression, his long lashes casting gentle shadows over his dusted blue cheeks.
“Please…Say that again,” Falsity pleaded, raising one of his hands to the back of Xqree’s hand. “Friend.” Falsity mumbled, wanting to hear and truly believe that someone valued his presence. Xqree brought Falsity closer, the humanoid version of him was releasing body heat seemingly, as he grew warmer and warmer the closer he got.
“I don’t want anyone else,”
“I want you.”
Falsity immediately fell into tears, standing up just to hug Xqree, burying his face into his neck. He’d cry quietly, yet prominently. Xqree fell immensely guilty, rubbing Falsity’s back and trying to soothe him with mumbled affirmations, such as;
“You’re okay,”
“It’s okay,”
“I’m here,”
“Cry as long as you need.”
After a few long minutes, Falsity leaned back, his pitch dark black eyes looking longingly into Xqree’s. He’d raise his hands and cup Xqree’s cheeks with his long sweater sleeves. After a few seconds, He’d kiss him, pouring out all of the love he truly felt for him. At first, Xqree didn’t know how to react. He hadn’t kissed anyone before, but it felt great. Solely because it was Falsity who was doing it. He’d immediately kiss back, gently grabbing Falsity by his shoulders. And after what felt like an eternity, they’d pull back to breathe, smiling like they’d finally found themselves again.
“Thank you, Friend…I…” Falsity began, leaning closer and resting his forehead against Xqree’s.
“I hate you, friend.” Falsity whispered, but Xqree knew better than to know that meant I love you. Xqree kissed Falsity’s forehead before laying his forehead against his.
“I love you too, Falsity. ♡”
