Chapter Text
From: [Unknown Sender]
A SECRET ADMIRER
To Blake,
You’re probably wondering who took the time to code a whole interactive trifold letter just to leave it in your private server files. Don't worry—I'm not going to ruin the mystery just yet.
Blake, I’ve wanted to tell you this for a while: you are genuinely incredible. Your builds, your compositions, your eye for detail—it leaves me speechless every single time. Every video you post is a masterclass, and I’m always sitting there in awe at how easily you turn basic blocks into something breathtaking. You have this effortless way of breathing life into every world you touch.
But honestly? It's more than just the builds.
I love listening to your voice. The way you get so genuinely excited to explain details, your laugh instantly brightening up the entire room, and how your voice cracks or goes an octave higher whenever you emphasize your words are my favourite things about you.
(Flip to see the next page ;))
Page 2, for you...
I catch every single wild pronunciation you throw out whenever you build with flowering blocks. Whether you say "ozzy baba", "azaleaba", or "osley baba", it instantly fills me with adoration and makes me smile without fail. I swear you invent a new word for azaleas every time, and I secretly hope you never stop doing it.
Truth is, I save every build design you share. I even keep a hidden single-player world where I practice building things I think you'd like, constantly asking myself: "Would Blake like this? Is it good enough for him?" You inspire me more than you'll ever know.
You're the main reason I look forward to logging on every single day. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to tell you this to your face. Until then, keep guessing, Blake.
Yours secretly,
Your Secret Admirer
And that's it.
Everybody is wondering, "How did Blake get to this point?"
Well, he has absolutely zero clue at all. So, let's restart to the beginning before he clicked on that mysterious, totally not creepy letter!
Blake had finished recording a video and was staring blankly at his dual monitors. He squinted at his file explorer when, of a sudden, he spotted a weird HTML file that definitely hadn't been in his server folder yesterday.
"What the..." He muttered, hovering his mouse over the file that sat at the top of his directory, suspiciously titled 'FOR_BLAKE.html'. Is this a virus?
"Who in the world spends time coding custom HTML just to troll me?" Expecting a corrupt texture pack or some bizarre viewer troll trying to crash his client, he double-clicked it—only for his screen to blur as a perfectly animated, sage-green envelope slowly uncurled across his monitor.
Blake's jaw dropped in surprise reading the bolded text on the cover that read 'Secret Admirer.' That was the last thing he would've expected of whatever that was in that file. Seriously! A secret admirer? Those things only existed in the movies, not in real life!
Still shocked and unsure of what to do, he pulled his phone out, and his hands moved to tap on his screen. Opening a very familiar blue app that he used practically every single day, he clicked on a bright-yellow profile in his pinned DM's and immediately pressed 'Call.' Blake ran a hand through his own messy brown hair as he waited for the other recipient to pick up.
"Hello?" The sound of his friend's voice shook him out of his imagination. Blake sat up straight immediately, his gaming chair making a high creak from the sudden action.
"Yes, yes. Hi, Wykull! I think I have a virus, or got hacked." He heard the other's mic pick up the soft clacking of his mechanical keyboard, which instantly stopped after hearing his words.
"Wait, actually? Like from a mod? What happened?"
"No," Blake said, rubbing his temple. "That’s the weird part. There weren't any weird changes. But I was clearing out my server's cache files in FTP, right? And I found this random file buried in the plugin directory called FOR_BLAKE.html."
"A script virus?" Wykull asked, sounding concerned. "Don't open that, man, it could be a token logger—"
"I already opened it," Blake interrupted quickly. "Well, I was thinking it was some sort of troll or something, but I still clicked it because I thought it wouldn't be anything crazy." He took a deep breath. "Wykull, someone bypassed my firewall, gained root access to my private server files, and instead of nuking my world... they coded a whole interactive, animated trifold love letter."
Wykull went dead silent for three whole seconds before bursting into a loud, wheezing laugh that rattled Blake's phone speaker. "A what?! You’re getting cyber-flirted with in your server files?!"
"I’m serious!" Blake’s cheeks burned hot as he scrolled down the unfolded digital page, gaping at the length of it. "They literally wrote a whole essay, dude!"
"Wait, so have you read it?"
"No... I just called you immediately the moment I saw it."
"Dude, why didn't you just read it first?"
Blake could hear the man rub his eyes and lean back from the other side of the line. "I don't know how I would feel about that..." He replied, gazing into the yellow smiley face profile on the call screen.
"If someone had the coding skills to bypass your server firewall just to write you a romantic note, they deserve to have you read it!" The voice from the phone argued, and Blake found himself almost groaning while stretching his arms up high. He literally has a video to edit; he doesn't want a random troll trying to waste his time playing with non-existent feelings. This was definitely the weirdest thing that happened to him during months of making Minecraft build videos online. And he has never heard of anyone else having the same thing happen!
The sound of Wykull's tone suddenly shifted to deep amusement. "Blake. Bro. You have to read it and say out loud what they wrote. I need to hear what kind of rizz someone put into a Minecraft directory file."
Blake couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was Wkyull serious? Yeah, his friend was definitely not taking the situation seriously at all. Of course he's treating it as a joke. But a sliver of curiosity made him wonder what the 'secret admirer' could've possibly written in the double-paged letter, so he gave in and started reading out the first line.
"'You're probably wondering who took the time to code a whole interactive trifold letter just to leave it in your private server files... Don't worry—I'm not going to ruin the mystery just yet.' " Wykull was about to open his mouth before Blake continued, "Oh, I forgot to mention that it says it's from an 'unknown sender'."
"Duh, that's the point of a secret admirer." Wykull snorted in the background. "Keep going."
"'Blake, I’ve wanted to tell you this for a while: you are genuinely incredible. Your builds, your compositions, your eye for detail—it leaves me speechless every single time.' " The brunet felt his face getting warmer at the compliments. This definitely wasn't the first time somebody had complimented his building skills, but he rarely ever got long, heartfelt messages like these that were very specific. The situation was already weird as it is; now the letter and the stupid words are also making him feel weird, an indescribable feeling that he would never voice out, not when he's still currently reading the letter to his friend.
He continued reading the letter, feeling a strong wave of emotions at the sincerity filled in each of the words. His voice was what? The person who wrote this letter loved his voice so much that they even got into details about which part was their favourite? Heck, why should his voice even be a stranger's favourite? He was deeply touched, but also a bit weirded out.
"Dude..." Wykull’s voice had gone completely quiet, the teasing tone dropping into genuine shock. "They went all out..."
"Wait, there's a second page," Blake muttered, his heart thumping against his ribs as he hovered his cursor over the lower panel. His voice wavered slightly as he kept reading:
"'Page 2, for you...'" He mentally raised an eyebrow at the usage of words. "'I catch every single wild pronunciation you throw out whenever you build with flowering blocks. Whether you say "ozzy baba", "azaleaba", or "osley baba", it instantly fills me with adoration and makes me smile without fail. I swear you invent a new word for azaleas every time, and I secretly hope you never stop doing it.' "
Blake felt a wave of embarrassment, a hot rush of color hitting his cheeks. He suddenly became very self-aware of the number of times he would mispronounce the flower 'azaleas' in his videos. Of course, it was fully on purpose, and it had always been a joke between him, his friends, and his viewers. He did it to add a bit of weirdness and comedy aside from talking in a higher-pitched voice in his videos. But now he knows that whoever wrote this for him definitely watches his videos.
He breathed out the remaining parts of the letter: "'Truth is, I save every build design you share. Yours secretly, Your Secret Admirer.'"
Silence stretched across the Discord call for several long seconds. Blake sat frozen in his chair, staring at the screen with his jaw slightly open, his mind spinning as he tried to reconcile the technical skill with the terrifyingly sweet, hyper-specific compliments.
"Okay," Wykull finally broke the silence, a giant grin practically audible in his voice. "First of all, you do pronounce azaleas like 'ozzy baba'. Second of all... Blake, you literally have a secret admirer who codes."
