Work Text:

Izuku Midoriya’s Thursday was turning out pretty good! He had taken down 4 criminals so far this morning and it was only 11am! Plus Deadpool had only made 2 flirtatious comments.

“Jeez, I’d let you web me up like that Spidey.” Deadpool drawled.

Make that 3.

“Stop it!” Izuku sputtered out, losing his focus. His grip slipping on his webs his face heated. “I’m working!” He shouted as he slinged around in his green and red suit that concealed his identity.

“’Workin’?” Deadpool barked, “You don’t get paid for this shit!”

“That—that’s beside the point!”

Izuku’s mission was just to apprehend some criminals robbing a bank. That’s it. Bank robbers. Deadpool tagged along because why wouldn’t he? The two vigilantes were sort of becoming a duo in the last few months, Deadpool usually tags along to help, or bother him.

As Izuku rolled his eyes behind his mask, finishing webbing up 2 criminals against a fancy pillar -it was a very exquisite bank no wonder these guys wanted to take some money from it. After Izuku had kicked their guns further from the two, he turned and saw Deadpool fist fighting one of the other criminals in the group, Deadpool’s shoulder clearly dislocated out of it’s socket.

Deadpool was covered head to toe in his own suit. His was black and orange, and he had a small arsenal of weapons strapped all across his body, which included 2 katanas on his back, 2 guns nestled in holsters on his hips, and an assortment of various different knives on his waist.

“You good, Deadpool!?” Izuku shouted towards the black and orange figure, he was at the other end of the bank marble floor. Just as he had, Deadpool knocked the criminal clean out, sending him flying and Izuku heard a snap of Deadpool’s shoulder popping back into place. He’d seen Deadpool injured enough to the point that sound shouldn’t bother him, but it still gave him shivers as his heighten senses honed into it.

He could feel Deadpool’s smirk in his voice when he shouted over “Did you see that Spidey? I didn’t even snap his neck!”

He ignored him, realising there was someone missing “Where’s number 4 went..?”

Suddenly a flurry of piercing bangs went off. Before the duo knew it, the walls and ceiling began crumbling.

“They put bombs on the structural beams…” Izuku thought out loud.

“Shit.” He heard Deadpool swear.

Izuku’s mind sprang back into action, “I’ll get these three out, you go look for number 4, he won’t be far.”

“Anything for you, Spidey!” Deadpool shouted as he ran out the door, luckily they had their earpieces in so Izuku would know when Deadpool had caught No.4. Quickly he tore his webbing from the two men who struggled against him, but Izuku had grown stronger this past year, he could easily handle them. He used his blackwhip-like webs to sub in for handcuffs for the two, and webbed up the unconscious one, his web quickly snatching the man towards him as the others struggled in his hold.

Once he darted out the door carrying all three criminals, he webbed them up against a lamppost ignoring their quarrelling arguments and protests.

That’s when he froze.

What if there was more than four criminals..

Or what if there were still civilians inside? Almost everyone who was there cleared out just as the duo had gotten there, but what if anyone was hiding?

Izuku moved before he could think any further, when he’d gotten back inside, his spider sense screamed at him. He was right in the centre when the entire building came crashing down on him.

Izuku woke up to darkness, and pain everywhere. Cursing with spots in his vision, he tried to get up before being met with a sharp pain in his shoulders, thigh and the entire left side of his body. He took a deep breath -which hurt like an absolute bitch- before managing to tilt his head down slightly, to see some of his suit torn, and the horror that was a metal pole sticking out of his thigh, the type of metal pole that was used to help the structural integrity of buildings. From the knees down he was stuck in between large heavy pieces of rubble. It was then more pain came crashing down on him, he felt like he was gasping for air, maybe because another part of concrete was crushing his side, or because he was getting claustrophobic, some of his ribs were definitely broken and he couldn’t move one of his arms.

Okay.

Okay.

This is fine, you can’t move your legs and one of your arms and everything hurts but this is fine! You can get out of this. He reassured himself, trying to not make himself panic.

“Y-o Spi-dey.” His earpiece suddenly crackled. “You- good? I -aw the buil-ding go down-”

The first thought that came to Izuku’s mind was ‘no shit I’m UNDER IT!’

He hopes no one else is trapped under this building like him.

Izuku took a deep breath, wincing from the blinding pain in his body, and carried his free hand up to press on his reciever to speak. “Kinda can’t-” Izuku holds in a cough “Bit stuck.” He said, hoping the signal wasn’t too terrible down here.

“Well, I hav-n’t gotten No.4 yet but-”

“No, no, go get him I’m fine-” Izuku had to mute for a second to let out a painful, wheezing cough,  a hot liquid and copper taste in his mouth when he did.

Izuku couldn’t show weakness in front of Deadpool, he was supposed to be everybody’s neighbourhood friendly hero: Spider-Man, not some useless whimp. He just has to catch his breath, and then he’ll keep trying.

“Alright...” Deadpool sounded unsure “If i can’t find him -n- WA-IT SHI-T THERE HE IS- OI FU-CKFACE!-”

Izuku sighed in relief (which also really hurt).

That’s good, Deadpool’s going to have gotten the criminal and then they’ll have apprehended all four. Izuku prays there’s no one stuck here like he is. Though it wouldn’t be likely, Izuku’s spider-sense didn’t detect anyone else around him apart from the three criminals webbed to the lamppost just a couple yards away. No doubt the police are on their way. They’ll be here any minute now.

God he’s such an idiot for getting himself trapped here.

After a moment he takes another deep breath, before trying to lift himself up for what was the third attempt. He tries shooting a web at the concrete on his side, trying to pull it away, but it just moves slightly downwards, crushing him further. What came next was a blinding white pain from all over his body. He groans, seething through his teeth in agony as he tried to lift it away (though really wanting to cry out and scream). Then feeling the metal pole in his thigh move, making bile rise from his throat, likely blood and his small breakfast from that morning mixed together. Eventually he gave up, catching his shallow breath as blackness spotted his vision again. Izuku lifted his mask to his nose to try and breathe better, revealing his freckled cheeks and chapped lips, it didn’t help much.

After a few moments of Izuku bleeding out and coughing up blood, trying and failing to lift the concrete off him his earpiece buzzed to life, but he could only comprehend a few words like, “Got ‘im.. are you?” From what Izuku pieced together, Deadpool was coming to get him now. He didn’t know how though.

“Under… building…” Were all the words he could muster before coughing weakly.

Deadpool paused on the other line for a moment, then he heard the vigilante swear.

“Spidey- Just… help is coming..” Were the next few words he made out as his earpiece crackled. Ok. Izuku thought. Ok. Help is on the way, he just needs to keep breathing, no matter how painful it is. He hopes Deadpool means professionals, and not himself, Deadpool wouldn’t be able to lift any of these pieces on top of Izuku by himself, even if he could, it would only be for slightest second before he’d definitely dislocate his shoulders again, probably break his back. Even if Deadpool could regenerate, he still wouldn’t be able get Izuku out.

As soon as Izuku got this rubble off him, he’d be able to start regenerating right too, but it was a much less impressive than Deadpool’s way. The man could regenerate his limbs and organs, all Izuku could do was regenerate a bit faster than the average human.

His eyes start to grow heavy and all he can think about is what a massive, complete fool he is. He’s getting colder too, fuck it wasn’t this cold before was it? Izuku is going to die a fool.

He should’ve thought more before dashing into an active crumbling building, but that’s what he does, he doesn’t fucking think sometimes.

Izuku let out a breathless sigh as he felt his eyelids droop, he could feel his heart beat slowing, and then he coughed up more blood, trying his best not to choke on the hot red liquid. His spider-sense tingled, he heard people beginning to approach the massive pile of rubble he was under. So Deadpool had gotten the professionals, its so unlike him.

“He-y Spide-y?” Deadpool said on the other end of his earpiece, Izuku was tired, he almost didn’t want to reply and go to sleep.

“Y-u better no-t be dead-” Deadpool’s tone had turned dead serious, the masked man was worried. At that realisation Izuku managed to lift his arm up, placing a finger on the receiver.

“’m fine..” Izuku mumbled, but proved himself wrong by coughing up more blood, he could feel it sliding down his neck and drying into his suit.

“Yea- i don-t believe y-ou.” Deadpool deadpanned, Izuku huffed a painful laugh quietly into the earpiece. “Jus-t hang in there Sp-idey.” There was that worried tone again. His voice was strained too, maybe he was helping getting the rubble away. His spider-sense humming at the feeling of the people getting closer and closer, time was passing strangely, he doesn’t know how long he’s been down here.

Spidey had been trapped under that building for 25 minutes so far. Firefighters, police and paramedics were already on their way when Spidey let them know there was a bank robbery going on, little did they know those cowardly little bastard criminals had attached bombs to every structural point of the building’s ground floor.

Katsuki knew there was something wrong as soon as the building collapsed. It took a full two minutes of him running on roof tops looking for No.4 before the nerd’d checked in. He’d lied to Katsuki, telling him he was a ‘bit stuck’ to only tell him after he’d caught the last criminal and knocked him that Spidey was trapped beneath tonnes of concrete. It made him fucking pissed. When the firefighter’s finally fucking got to the scene, Katsuki was shouting at them, barking orders even helping them move and drill through the rubble. People didn’t like Deadpool, but loved Spider-Man, if it was anyone else they would have ignored him, and worked at their own pace. He never thought he’d ever work with anyone but Spidey, but the nerd was really good at convincing Katsuki to be on his best behaviour.

That’s when he heard something, the faintest choking cough. Deadpool gripped the concrete harder. “He’s fucking close, I heard ‘im!” He barked to the firefighters and police force on the scene, everybody desperate to save their neighbourhood friendly hero before it was too late. The cough was a sign, a sign he was still alive. Katsuki shouted at the top of his lungs, telling the spider to hang tight. He’d never felt so desperate to save someone, he promised himself after his incident he would never let or be able to get close to anyone again, but his fat crush on Spidey was squeezing his lungs. The two had grown close these past eight months, he would take every bullet aimed at Spider-Man without a second thought.

With one last push, him and five other strong firefighters and a couple policemen, they managed to move the last piece of rubble obscuring their view of the Spidey, what he saw wrecked his bloodied soul.

Spidey was layed down on his back, his suit torn in places revealing skin, a large piece of rubble crushing his side. The rubble they’d just managed to lift over off him was previously crushing his legs, a metal pole impaled his thigh staining his green suit red. His mask was lifted up to his nose, blood was trailing down and crusting the sides of his mouth, he’d been sat here internally bleeding, and Katsuki might be too late, fuck.

“De-d..pool..” Spidey mumbled, his eyes half lidded, fighting a battle with himself trying to keep them open. Katsuki swore and picked him up and the vigilante let out a painfilled groan.

“I know, shhh Spidey you’re good, you look great, you’re alright.” Deadpool said into his ear as he carried him out, adjusting the mans mask so no one seen the top half of his face. Deadpool’s heart was doing backflips when he seen Spidey had freckles, but his brain ignored it for now, that was something to think about when Spidey wasn’t actively dying in his arms.

He felt Spidey go limp in his hold, and he rushed him carefully to the paramedics barking orders, refusing to leave his side the entire time, making sure no one fucked with his mask. As much as Deadpool wanted to know who Spidey was, he respected that if he’d put on a mask it was for good reason. Part of him thought maybe he was deformed like Katsuki, or he probably just didn’t want people to disturb his person life. Probably the latter.

Eventually, when they’d gotten to the hospital, suits and all, people were incredibly scared and intimated by Katsuki, or Deadpool’s presence. He didn’t care though, he never has. Plus it meant he got to stay by Spidey’s side when they treated him, and got that piece of metal out of ‘im.

It had been a good couple hours, the sky was beginning to turn a light shade of orange, mixing pink with purple to blue. Last he’d checked it was 6:45pm, and the crowds cheering for Spidey hadn’t died down. Just as desperate as him to see if Spidey was alright.

Spidey was now in his own little hospital room, his green mask still covered his hair and eyes, his mouth and nose covered by a different mask to help his breathing.

Katsuki could only help but ask why? Why would the nerd lie to him? He was stuck under that building for almost an hour, slowly bleeding out and having his ribs crushed under concrete. Katsuki feels a lot of things right now, he’s pissed, he’s angry but most of all he’s worried. Worried that Spidey’s heart will stop suddenly, and he’ll have been too late to save him. Worried that he’ll lose the only person who’s ever remotely cared about his wellbeing. Worried that he’ll lose the last part of himself that makes him human.

As more time passed his eyes grew heavy, as his head leant against the wall his chair was against, (one of those shitty plastic chairs they have at hospitals that aren’t really for sleeping on) his eyes droop closed.

He’s sure only a few seconds pass before hears movement in the room, guard dog mode activates and he jolts upright only for his eyes to land on Spidey awake, groaning, trying to take his oxygen mask off.

“Ay, don’t do that shit.” Katsuki rushes forward, still in his suit and mask, tugging Spidey’s hands away to his sides.

“You’re a fucking idiot, you know that?” Katsuki scolds, his heart squeezing when the man next to him lets out a small laugh, then sighs letting out air.

“’m sorry-”

“Nope, not doing that,” He said and started talking over Spidey’s protests. “Nuh-uh- Zip it! You can shut up if you’re gonna be apologetic for being trapped under a fucking building, Spidey.”

“I was stupid though-”

“Yeah something i’m used to.” He interrupted him again, then his tone turned serious.

“Never. Ever. Do anything like that again, understand?” Katsuki said, trying to keep his anger in check. “Scared the absolute shit out of me…”

A few moments passed before Spidey smirked, and oh my god, dimples, he’s got dimples.

“You care about me.”

Katsuki’s ears were probably pink under his mask as his face heated. “So what if I did Spidey.” He challenged him.

Spidey huffed out another laugh, shit properly hurt considering he got squished down by a building only earlier today.

“Thank you.” Spidey said.

“Don’t fucking mention it, nerd.”
