Chapter Text

On September the 1st of their 7th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Sirius Black was buzzing around in the little compartment he, James and Peter had managed to claim as their own on the Hogwarts Express.

The only thing missing? Their very own werewolf. Their very own handsome, sweet, perfect werewolf, if you asked Sirius.

Sirius had spent the main part of the summer at James' place, which was now, after escaping the old, dusty halls of Grimmauld Place and his horrible family, his new home.

There had been many sleepless nights, conversations with James' parents Effie and Monty, conversations with James himself, tears, visits from Peter and Remus and letters from Remus, whom Sirius needed to talk to, even when he wasn't around.

But now, waiting for his third friend, Sirius could hardly contain himself.

It had come as a surprise to him at the end of their sixth year, when Sirius noticed he fancied a certain boy with yellow wolfish eyes, golden-brown curls and freckles, who was clever, funny, brave and so so beautiful. But he'd had enough on his plate: his cruel parents, his cousin Bellatrix, who followed him around Hogwarts and tried to recruit him for this Dark Lord his family was talking about, his fear of disappointing and wanting to leave his family at the same time, and his sense of guilt for telling Snape to go to the Whomping Willow at the beginning of their sixth year. On top of all that came his new found feelings for someone, who was not only a boy, not only someone he had nearly cost his academical future, but one of his best friends...

Then summer had come, a summer, Sirius wanted to forget all about but would never be able to. He hadn't wanted to join this Dark Lord, he hadn't wanted to marry some pureblood girl and most of all he hadn't wanted to disappoint his parents but... Somehow it had happened. Maybe there wasn't anything he could have done against it.

The memory of his mother whipping out here wand, of the red light in the room when her cruciatus curse had hit Sirius, the pain... all this came to his mind and suddenly he couldn't breathe...

Then, there was a warm, steady hand on his arm and Sirius looked up into the brown eyes of his best friend - his brother. James just knew when Sirius needed him. He anchored him in the present. Always. And right now he pointed through their window at a lanky boy with brown curly hair, who was boarding the train and Sirius' heart stuttered in his chest.
