Day Six: Idol AU | Wisdom Teeth Removal | Hurt/Comfort
"I'm not gonna do it," Shizu declared with a pout.
Rei sighed, though she wasn't surprised. "You have to, Shizu-chan. If you don't, it'll only cause you more trouble later."
"But getting them removed sounds like a pain," Shizu whined. While the pathetic look did work more often than it should on Rei, it wasn't working this time. Shizu's health was more important!
"It'll be way more of a pain if you don't. Like, you'll actually be in pain," Rei informed her girlfriend. "So be good and get it done."
Shizu looked truly pitiful as she stared at Rei with sad glass-gray eyes. "Reiiiii."
"I'll get an appointment set up for you, okay? Someone really good. You can even get knocked out during the procedure. It'll be like taking a nap and then waking up with the problem solved," Rei said, already typing out a text to Ba-ya. "We'll pick a day when both of us are free."
Shizu blinked. "I can be asleep during it?"
Of course that's what won her over. Rei laughed and ruffled her messy white hair. "It's not quite the same, but sure."
"...Fine," Shizu reluctantly agreed.
"That's a good girl," Rei said as she compared her and Shizu's schedules. Between Shizu's acting commitments, and Rei's acting and idol commitments, they both tended to be pretty busy. But Rei was a super-elite, so she'd make this work. Within just a few minutes, Rei got everything set up. "Done!"
Shizu sighed and rested her head on Rei's shoulder. "Better reward me a lot for this."
"Of course, treasure. And I'll take super good care of you," Rei promised.
"Yaaay."
Rei could see Shizu getting increasingly disgruntled on the day of the appointment. Luckily, she'd set it up for the morning, to keep Shizu from having too much time to think about it. Even so, the sleepy girl was incredibly pouty once they arrived at the dentist. Rei asked the dentist a bunch of questions, wanting to make sure her girlfriend was getting the best possible care. Once she was satisfied, the dentist had Shizu lay down as he explained what she should expect.
"You'll be very drowsy when you wake up, and you might experience some confusion and intense emotions," he said.
"'Kay," Shizu said. "Oyasumi, Rei."
Rei giggled. "I'll be here the whole time, Shizu-chan!"
The dentist placed the mask over Shizu. It didn't take long for her to be knocked out. Not that this was in any way unusual for Shizu. She was an expert at sleeping. Rei watched intensely the whole time, even if it was a bit gross. She had to make sure everything went smoothly. Eventually, all four wisdom teeth were extracted, and Rei waited (mostly) patiently for Shizu to regain consciousness. It happened gradually, with a lot of blinking and a low whine.
"Hi, treasure," Rei said, standing beside her girlfriend.
"...Rei?" Shizu asked, squinting up at her.
"Told you I'd be here," Rei said. She ran her fingers through Shizu's hair. It was so soft. If it were up to Shizu, she'd probably use two-in-one shampoo and conditioner, but as an actress, she was given the best products to keep herself looking camera-ready.
Shizu squeezed her eyes shut. "Dizzy."
"I'm sorry, Shizu-chan. It won't last forever. Just hang in there!" Rei did feel super bad for Shizu, but also couldn't help but think she was super adorable.
It was a process to get Shizu to the limo. Luckily Ba-ya was there to help. Shizu was all stumbly and groggy, and her words kept slurring. Shizu practically laid on Rei once they were in the limo. Not that Rei could ever mind that.
"Wanna go home," Shizu whined against Rei's neck.
"We're going home, treasure," Rei assured.
"Why's my head so…" Shizu left a long pause, evidently struggling to find the right words. "Brain's broken."
Rei giggled. "Your brain isn't broken! It's just the drugs."
"Who drugged me?" Shizu sounded so confused.
"The dentist, remember?"
"That's mean," Shizu said. "Rei should put them in jail."
"Shizu-chan, it was so they could take out your wisdom teeth!" Rei couldn't help but feel pleased that Shizu thought her capable of just throwing people in jail.
"They stole my teeth?" Oh, Shizu.
"They removed them. The wisdom teeth are the extra ones that we don't need," Rei reminded her. Not that it would probably do much good.
"But I need teeth to chew… Rei won't let me just drink jellies," Shizu mumbled.
"They didn't take all your teeth, Shizu. You can still eat."
"Oh…okay."
Shizu kept dozing off during the drive home, which was probably a good thing. Rei wanted her treasure to get all the rest she needed. Besides, Rei liked having Shizu draped over her. It was comforting. Once they got back to their shared apartment, Rei and Ba-ya had to basically carry Shizu inside. Rei decided to just take her to the bedroom. Having her sleep off the drugs would be the best thing.
"Rei," Shizu said as Rei tucked her into bed.
"What is it, treasure?" Rei asked.
"Rei's so pretty," Shizu said, staring blearily at her. "So purple."
Rei laughed. "Thanks, Shizu-chan. You're pretty too!"
"Love Rei," Shizu said. "Number one Rei fan."
"I know you are," Rei assured. It never got old, the way that Shizu was so competitive with Rei's idol fanbase. "Now, get some rest, okay?"
"Yes, Boss," Shizu mumbled, shutting her eyes. She was out in seconds.
Rei stood there for a minute, just watching her. Today and tomorrow they both had off, but the day after, Rei was expected to return to her busy idol life. She loved every minute of it, but she did sometimes wish for more time with Shizu. Still, this wasn't forever. Someday, she would stop being an idol, and she and Shizu could stop hiding their relationship. They'd both still have acting taking up time, but that would still be a lot less chaotic than what was happening now. Rei was so grateful that Shizu supported her becoming an idol, even if it meant them hiding, and seeing less of each other. In return, Rei would always do her best to take care of Shizu, and one day, they'd no longer need to hide.
