Work Text:
Saiki was not into romance.
He never was.
Romance was stupid, and if you ask him, an absolute waste of time. He always cringed out ever seeing his parents being so clinging between eachother, he didn’t carr that much though, since they were promising eternal love everyday on their couch. Luckily, Kusuo rarely heard them making out or something similar, they weren’t the type of couple who would kiss in front of his son either, so he guessed he was fine with that.
But then a rather annoying girl appeared on his life.
‘I’m fine’ he thought, but after some time, he seemed to realize that he wasn’t.
Normally, every girl who fell in love with him used to forget him around 2-3 weeks, but with this girl it was different, completely different.
He tried everything, acting disinterested, ignoring her, eating disgustingly, being rude… it always seemed like she loses a bit of interest on him only so at the end he always ends up lowering his guard, which leads him to do something stupidly “romantic” and make her fall in love even more.
He even felt bad for doing all of this but convinced himself that it was for his own good.
Time passed, and he started to get used to her and her pretty face. Not that he liked her or anything, but it was better to live along with something rather than being suffering all the time because you can’t get rid of it.
After a while, he met her brother —which he wished he didn’t— and figured out why she is how she is, sort of thing that made him feel something he didn’t want to feel.
He thought that love was stupid, did he?
Yes, of course he did.
Then stop right now.
Why? It’s not a bad feeling.
It is absolutely the worst feeling ever.
Looking at the present, he reminded himself that he was in a closet locked with Teruhashi, thing that made him freak out in the bad way.
He thought of praying, but he remembered, ‘God is not on your side’.
He was so disgusted by his own head that he forgot of that he was a mentalist and had psychic powers, which meant that he could easily open the door with telekinesis on a single snap with his fingers.
“What a disaster! The door must be locked!” The blue haired girl faked her panic, almost smiling while talking. “That means we're completely alone in this warehouse until someone comes to save us…” she whispered on the ending sentence.
‘Oh good grief’ the pink haired teenager thought, while he proceeded to open the door with his physic powers.
“Big bro! Where are you! We want to see a movie and I bought three tickets just so we can go the three of us to the movies!” Nendou’s voice drifted in through the gap at the bottom of the door, causing Kusuo to stop dead in his tracks. He was wearing his mind-reading prevention ring, so it came as a complete surprise to find Nendou so close to his current location.
Now that he thought, he couldn’t have read his mind even without the ring on. He often forgot that Nendou was too stupid for that.
He frowned, should he go to the cinema with the two jerks —Nendou and Kaidou— or stay with the annoying Teruhashi lady?
“Makoto is coming too! He was the one to invite us to the movie and everything!” He cheered from the corridor “he even appears in the movie! He’s the main character!”
Kusuo planted his feet firmly on the ground; he wasn't going to budge from that spot for at least a full hour.
Once he heard Nendou’s steps getting farther, he sighed, tired of whatever this horrible situation was.
‘Hey Teruhashi’ Kusuo mentioned casually, she looked at him ‘When did your brother started being this famous?” —and filthily perverted and annoying— he didn’t think that out loud.
Kokomi opened her eyes, not expecting a question of his brother in this situation, this moment is supposed to be focussed on me! Not on him! She thought.
“Well, it was since he was very little, probably eight years old or something” she crossed her arms, trying to remember those times “he stepped into a set by mistake and some agent saw him as a worth product and since he is- well, him” she laughed awkwardly, trying to maintain her fake smile —as always— “he accepted and started being a full super star, as you see, everyone loves him..”
He nodded, absorbing the information into his brain. Is not that he cared or anything, but he was sincerely curious about how a creep like him can be so well seen over the society.
Kusuo turned around, facing her.
‘And you?’
Kokomi freezed.
“Uh?”
‘You look almost the same as your brother, didn’t the agent offered you being an actress as well?’
This sort of things was the kind of thoughts he never mentioned out loud, since it wasn’t necessary, he didn’t really cared, it was none of his business, this was just some weird weird question that his mind created out of the blue, just to make him overthink just like now.
Her smile faded a bit.
“My brother said that I was too pretty for television, he said I would make people blind out of my looks so I listened to him…” she looked at the floor, trying to avoid Saiki’s long stare.
Which was weird, since he usually was the one to avoid her long stares.
He knew that she was clearly unhappy with her brother's decision, but not only that, she was unhappy with every action of her brother. Because he was not normal. Because he was a creep.
Kusuo approached and
Wait.
What was he doing?
He was approaching her.
But why?
He didn’t want to get closer to Teruhashi. Did he?
Kokomi started to feel dizzy, she remembered some other situations that made her shiver in the wrong way, situations that made her want to throw up.
The long stare stayed, increasing as more time passed with seconds.
Suddenly, some wetness started going around her face, getting her to touch her cheeks, wait, was she… crying?
She couldn’t be crying.
Perfect ladies don’t cry.
They don’t do that.
This was wrong.
This was really wrong.
Kusuo, on the other hand, opened his eyes, not expecting the tears from mrs.perfect.
This is stupid.
Well, what if is?
He could have gone by this moment, but he chose to stay.
He could have just stayed quiet, instead, he chose to talk.
He could have just stayed still, but by this moment, he was already hugging her.
Maybe he’d give love a try.
Not that he wants it anyways, but trying won’t harm him too much, will he?
Is not that he could escape the feeling, could he?
So he stayed in there, even with his plain face, he still wanted to make Teruhashi feel better, even if it’s by acting vulnerable around her.
She just stayed there, sobbing even more in his arms, trying to maintain her tears inside her eyes —with no victory—.
After a bunch of crying —and getting Saiki's sleeves wet— she finally stopped, trying to forget this moment out of her mind.
She’s always seen this kind of scenes, where he comforts her after a traumatic event. She used to smile and giggle seeing those scenes, thinking it would be magical to experience them in the reality.
But now that she was here, it was all so different, he knew something about her that completely stripped her of the majestic stereotype she always embodied. Making her turn into an imperfect soul in his eyes.
Which wasn’t nice.
God that wasn’t nice at all.
“I’m sorry about everything, you shouldn’t have heard anything of this, please forgive me for everything” She broke the hug and backed away, this time hugging herself.
Saiki looked at her and slowly smiled —super duper tiny slime, though—, sighing to himself.
Was he going to do it? He never thought he would ever do this.
He never thought he would eventually even approach this close to her.
Not because he was nervous, but because he was —once again— disgusted with his feelings, he could accept them but the weirdness was still there.
Unlike his thoughts, that disgusting feeling just kept expanding further and further in the exact moment one pushed their lips with the another.
The kiss was hungry and intense, Kokomi starts shy, but later on Kusuo pushed her over the wall, the two of them relying on the wall while kissing wildly.
If you told Kusuo about this half an hour earlier, he would have killed himself in less than a second.
“Someone! Teruhashi has been trapped in this warehouse for almost twenty minutes! Someone please help me open this up now!” And in less than a moment, the door was easily opened by at least six guys, leaving all in the room exposed to the whole school.
Kokomi wanted to drown herself, they were all gonna kill Saiki because of her. She opened her eyes to say something but she found herself alone in the warehouse, with no trace of the pink haired guy.
Wait, what?
How could he..?
Did he run so fast out of the room that I didn’t even notice?
But the students seem completely calmed, why?
Was this… just a dream..?
‘I can’t believe I got to teleport that fast… one moment more and they would have caught me… I don’t know how they didn’t open the door earlier though…”
