Was This An Accident?

Summary:

Pink eyes disappear as they turn around to open the door; the girl pulls and pulls but it seems… stuck? Asumi glances at the guy behind her before giving a small shrug. Roberu slinks up next to the girl and tries to pull the door open as hard as he could but it also does not give even an inch. The two make a bewildered face, then turn to make eye contact and nod. They put both of their hands on the door and pull together.

BOOM!

Work Text:

“It… kind of just… happened.” Is what the two claimed when asked about their situation. Both of them knew though that that was only half of the truth, the other half would require be a long winded explanation that would be waaayy too long of a story to-

Asumi let out a soft yawn and blinked away the tears forming in her eyes. It had been a much longer day than she expected; her body was certainly feeling the heaviness that had built in her back and shoulders. She stretched out her arms a bit, unintentionally releasing another smaller yawn as she did. Beside her, a pair of light brown and purple eyes darted over to her fatigued and slightly slumped over form.

“Alright guys, I think we should end it here. It’s been a long stream, so thank you for staying until now!” Roberu announced, “Bye bye!!!”

Pink tired eyes glance up at the screen before sleepily smiling and saying, “Bye bye!”

Once the red dot disappears and Roberu does some final checks to make sure the stream ends properly, Asumi slowly rises from her seat and silently gathers her things. Meanwhile, the brunette goes around tidying up everything from their collab. They had been planning this offcollab for a while, and only now had time in their busy schedules to make room for it. The duo had settled for trying out new snacks and candies as they realized they wouldn’t have enough time to do a cooking stream like they initially wanted to do.

“Thank you, Roberu, for getting all of the sweets and for lending your home for this.” Asumi said with a smile.

Roberu face cracked into a bright smile, “Nah, nah, thank you for coming all this way.”

Asumi made her way to the doorway with Roberu following behind, the silver-haired girl then turned around with a mischievous look in her eyes, “Well, I hope we can see each other without waiting for four or five years.”

The brunette let out a small laugh, “Yeah, let’s plan a mountain of collabs, we’ll stream together everyday!”

BOOM!

The door slams open, revealing a heavy downpour being throttled by strong winds. The trees lining the street were almost being ripped from the ground while the street signs bent over from the pressure. The foreboding black clouds light up with a flash for a brief moment before a loud roar tears through the air. The pair are stunned for a moment, taking in the carnage that had been brewing whilst they were unaware. The shorter woman moved first, pushing the door closed, locking it shut.

“Uhm… Robe-kun, would you mind if I stayed over for one night?” Asumi tentatively asks.

Roberu blinks, mouth opening and closing a few times as he processes what he just saw, “Yeah, yup please do.”

The two turn back around and head into Roberu's living room, as they do, their stomachs let out a low rumble.

“Ah, that's not good.” Roberu mutters out.

“Robe-kun… you got kitchen utensils and groceries right…?”

“Kitchen utensils… yes, I bought them a while ago for the cooking collab. Groceries… uhm…” Roberu trails off as he skulks over to the kitchen and opens the door to his fridge. Half of it was filled with drinks and the other half was almost bare. Luckily for them though, there was something. Asumi goes closer to start looting his fridge and cabinets, taking out whatever was in there. Beef slices, lettuce, potatoes, salt, pepper; ‘Thank god.’; and various cup noodles.

‘Okay, not a lot but doable.’ Asumi notes as she lets her gaze wander over the spread of ingredients. She takes the lettuce and potatoes over to the sink to begin washing them. Behind her, heterochromic eyes flicker back and forth as they watch the woman work.

“U-uhm, is there anything I can do Asumi?”

“Hm… I think I will be fine. Ah, do you have a spare blanket and pillow?”

“Yeah?”

“Can you grab them and leave them on the couch?”

It takes a little while but eventually a delicious smell drifted throughout the house. Luring a drooling man back to the kitchen after completing his task. “That smells sooo good!”

The corners of Asumi's mouth tilt up, “If you think it smells good, wait till you taste it.”

Asumi brings the pot over to the dining table while Roberu grabs some bowls, chopsticks and spoons. He lays them down for each of them as Asumi takes the bowls to fill them up with the hearty stew. They moved in a rhythm that completed the other's movements perfectly, as if they had been doing this for a long time. Eventually, they both sat down across from each other before chowing down.

“You’re a god, Asumi.” Roberu said without an ounce of his usual silliness in his voice.

Asumi broke out into a snicker, “What???”

“This is the best food I've ever had.”

Asumi's face cracked a bit more as her laughter bubbled out, “Thank you, thank you, but I really didn't do anything special.”

“The fact that you “didn't do anything special” makes it even more incredible. Truly, I am but an ant underneath your shoe.” He says dramatically before practically inhaling the stew.

“Careful! It's hot!”

After the two ate and showered, the battle for the couch began. It was an all out warfare of pleasantries and excuses, neither one wanting to subject the other to the immense neck and back pain that would surely arrive in the morning.

“I’m the one intruding in your home so it makes sense for me to take the couch.”

“I can’t let you do that, especially since you cooked a god-like meal from the scraps I had.”

Asumi’s smile tenses, “But I used up your ingredients and your soap, not to mention the fact that I’m having to borrow your shirt right now.”

Roberu’s eyes drift down just for a second before snapping up with a tomato red face, “That’s just because you don’t have any other clothes right now! And I would rather you not wear your dirty clothes to bed!”

“Also, you cleaned up all of the dirty dishes that I created! So, I did something for you, you did something for me, now it’s my turn again!”

Roberu didn’t even answer that and just jumped straight onto the couch, taking up the entire length of it, “Hah! Take that!”

Asumi just glared at him as she walked away to Roberu’s room.

After that incident, the pair started talking even more off stream. Usually about how their day was or small stories about their friends. Occasional calls turned into almost daily calls, usually at really late at night when they've both ended stream. It was nice having someone they could talk to after a busy day, especially when they can't fall asleep immediately. Unfortunately though, meeting up again face-to-face was just not in the cards for them. As the seasons passed it seemed like time for anything else other than work just faded away.

Roberu just wrapped up a late night recording for the next 3D Live. He packed up his things, waved goodbye to the staff and started off on his way to the train station. The midnight air was bone-chilling cold in the winter; even with the double layer of coats the man was wearing, the biting winds made it feel like he was naked. Roberu watched as puffs of white steam released from his mouth. Then, something hit him, the time.

He scrambled to take out his phone, only to end up glaring at the clock that greeted him, ‘Shit… none of the trains will be running.’

He paced around in place for a moment while scratching his head. Thoughts flew a mile a minute trying to figure out if there’s a hotel or a friend that he could borrow a room from nearby. A certain sliver-haired girl wiggled her way into the top of the list.

‘Right, Asumi sent me her address a while ago for that cooking collab and I think it’s down that way.’ Unconsciously, his feet had already started moving in that direction. He froze once he noticed where he was going and opened his phone to Asumi’s number, ‘Should probably not show up uninvited and standing outside of her door at 2AM, her neighbors would probably call the police.’

‘Are you awake?’

‘Mm, was watching a show before sleeping.’

‘The trains stopped running, and I can’t get home. I’m near you rn, can I stay for a night?’

‘...’ Those dots disappeared and reappeared for what seemed like forever; meanwhile, Roberu’s legs and hands had started to freeze up. ‘Please, please, please Asumi, save me!’

‘Ok’

‘YATTA!’ Roberu exclaimed in his head as he took off down the street towards Asumi’s apartment complex. The man’s head swiveled as he went, checking the building numbers before finally reaching a set that seemed to be familiar. Shooting a quick text to let the girl now he was there, he leaned up against the wall to catch his breath. A flurry of footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs and a ca-chunk rang out as the gate swung open.

“Robe-kun?” A pair of pink eyes peak out from the gate.

“Ah, Asumi!” Brown and purple eyes lit up at the sight of the slightly dishevelled girl. The woman moved to the side in order to let Roberu in before taking the lead and heading back up the stairs. Roberu’s face contorts into a sheepish and apologetic smile, “Sorry for doing this so late, I had a recording and didn’t notice the time.”

“It’s okay, don’t worry. I already finished stream and was just lazing about anyway.” Asumi reassured.

Asumi opened the door, letting the two in. Roberu immediately let out a soft sigh as he felt the warmth thaw his frozen body. He took off his coats and draped them over one of the dining room chairs. A soft yawn escaped his lips as the heat inside of the home felt like a cozy blanket.

“Are you hungry?” Asumi asked.

“Nah, just tired. I’m taking the couch because now I’M the one intruding AND I haven’t given you anything, not to men-”

Asumi just lets out a sigh, the eyelids on her face becoming heavier and heavier, “I’m not doing this again.”

The pink haired woman just drags the taller man to her bedroom, throwing the door open and pushing him onto the bed before throwing herself onto the other side. Light snores leaving her as her head hits the pillow. Roberu’s mouth just opened and closed rapidly as he processed what just happened, his mind blue screening. He moved to get up, but his body protested as the aches from the day made themselves known. His legs and arms fall back to the bed, his eyes drooping down. Roberu put up a good fight, but the comfyness of the bed won. They both silently agreed to never talk about that moment ever again, or the next few VERY similar situations that they found themselves in.

Over the course of the next couple of months, the amount of times that they ended up “accidentally” finding themselves at each others’ house increased exponentially. Asumi’s house was noticeably more tidy and clean than before and Roberu’s fridge was stocked with actual food rather than just sugary drinks. One day, Roberu was digging in his closet trying to find a specific hoodie, rooting through the drawers before coming to the conclusion that he lost it. Meanwhile, Asumi was looking for something comfy to wear for the next few hours as she had a collab with a couple of people from VSPO and she found this large hoodie.

‘Huh, did I buy this?’ Asumi questioned before putting it on, ‘this is so big, there’s no way I got this right…?’

The silver-haired girl had an offcollab with Lisa one day and as the latter arrived at Asumi’s door, she heard another voice coming from inside along with her genmate’s. She rang the doorbell and the expected pink eyes greeted her, “Oh! Welcome Lisa!”

Lisa was about to greet her back when her attention was snatched away by the sight of light brown hair in the corner of her eyes. Her gaze narrowed and scanned the slightly familiar figure, “Hey Asumi, who’s that?”

“Ah, Roberu dropped by for a visit. Don’t worry, I’ll kick him out before our collab begins.” Asumi explained.

“Uh- okay…” Lisa watched as the silver-haired woman proceeded to chuck the poor man out into the cold. ‘I didn’t realise they were this close…’

Coincidentally, the next incident happened when Roberu was having an offcollab with his genmates. They had decided to meet up and play a board game that Temma had bought. Very far into the game, Roberu’s doorbell chimed and they all looked at each other with a confused expression.

“Wait, why are you confused? This is your house!” Astel asked. Roberu just gave a sheepish smile before heading to the door. Unbeknownst to him, his two nosy genmates followed behind him quietly to eavesdrop. The brown haired man creaked open the door and saw the familiar head of silver hair he’d come to expect.

“I have something for you.” The woman says as she hands over a wrapped up package and was about to enter before the taller man stopped her, “Sorry, I’m having an offcollab with my genmates right now.”

“Ah, okay.” The woman nods in understanding, “Just make sure you eat all of it and tell me what you think. See ya!”

“See ya!”

The two nosy boys quickly head back to the living room, assuming the same positions as before. Roberu plops down the wrapped up package on his dining table and heads back to his two guests. The guys shared a look as they watched their friend scuttle back in.

Temma raises an eyebrow, a smug smirk fighting to stay on his face, “Got something good? Or saw something good?”

Roberu glared at him with a slight red tint on his cheeks, “Shut up.”

If a silver-haired woman and a man with heterochromic eyes tell you that they ended up living at each other’s house by accident. They’re lying.
