Chapter Text
White grips their flashlight as they look down the blackened halls.
It’s just down the hall to the right. That’s all. So why are they so scared?
…What kind of question is that?! Has the fear messed with their head already?? They could be killed by an Imposter!
Imagine that… just minding your own business, until you feel a knife pass through you…
Watching the blood gush out as you stare at the apathetic killer…
White shivers at the thought. They wouldn’t see their friends again!
…They wouldn’t see their husband again.
Then they feel something touch them.
They jump back screaming, the flashlight flying out of their hands as they fall back.
As they stare into the pitch black, they try to crawl away while lightly shaking.
“White! It’s ok, it’s ok— It’s me!”
A familiar voice softly says, which stops White from crawling.
The person picks up the flashlight and holds it up to his face, revealing a Dark Blue bean donning a bandana.
“Dark Blue! Oh thank goodness it’s just you. I thought you were an Imposter.”
They say as they stand, their visor curling upwards.
“…It’s all good.”
Dark Blue looks at nothing, seeming slightly nervous.
“...Let’s go to Electrical. We have to fix the lights eventually.”
He says, happily holding out a hand as his visor splits into a cheerful crescent.
White happily takes his hand as they head to Electrical together.
As White flicks on the last switch, the lights flicker back on. White is finally able to see in front of them, which makes their visor curl up into a U shape happily.
Dark Blue comes back from the wires task and gives White a thumbs up. They thought they heard whispering coming from over there, but no one else came with them to Electrical…
White doesn’t think of it that much.
“Ready to go back?”
Dark Blue asks happily as he slowly heads to the door, still looking at White.
White nods, following Dark Blue as they head back to Cafeteria, where the others probably are.
“Hey guys.”
Dark Blue casually says as he and White walk into Cafeteria. White skips over to Purple happily and Dark Blue goes to sit next to Green, who’s saved him a spot, as always.
Purple gives White a peck on their cheek, to which they turn into a blushing mess, stuttering out unfinished words.
As those two were having their fun, Dark Blue leaned closer to Green.
“...Lemme guess. You’re the one who did that.”
He whispers, his visor spitting in half with only the bottom half showing, with an all knowing gaze.
Green giggles softly.
“Yep, It was just for fun.”
“Of course.”
Dark Blue rolls his eyes with a fond look.
“Aww don’t you know me all too well. How cute!”
Green teases as they lean closer, which causes a red to grow over Dark Blue’s face.
“Y-You shut it.”
He says, covering the space under his visor with one hand, as the other softly pushes Green away by the visor.
“Look at the lovey-dovey couples.”
Grey says from behind her book, placing it down to reveal a look of amusement.
“Look at the bookworm.”
Dark Blue returns, sharing that same look as he leans on the table they’re sitting at.
The two laugh, while White and Purple join the others at the table.
“What are you reading, Grey?”
Green asks, to which Grey proudly holds her book up for all of them to see.
The title read “Myths and Mysteries of The Most Influential Folklore; The Traitor.”
“Huh.”
Green and Dark Blue say as they look at each other.
While the others ask questions, Dark Blue looks back at the book, with a hand slowly covering the lower part of his visor.
Green’s gaze lingers on Dark Blue for a moment, before looking back at the book too.
“It’s my favourite Folklore, that’s why! I always keep it in my backpack.”
Grey says happily as her visor lights up.
“It’s said that Traitors used to be Crewmates, who now are forever cursed with an Imposter’s disgusting mouth. All because they started killing like Imposters…”
She flips to a page with an old photo enthusiastically.
It's an (almost stereotypical) picture of a used-to-be crewmate bean, with a perfectly straight Imposter mouth, covered in blood like a lunatic.
Inaccurate.
“…What do they say about how… Traitors become like… that.”
Dark Blue asks bitterly, like the words coming out of his mouth offended him in some way.
“Ooh, that’s a good question. Well…”
Grey flips to a page.
“Some say that Traitors lose their souls, along with the ability to realise what they’re doing is wrong…”
She flips to another page.
“Some say that Traitors were found and tempted by the First Imposter…”
Then she shuts the book.
“Who knows! No one can get their story straight.”
Grey says with a shrug.
Dark Blue’s eyes linger on the book, before chuckling.
“I mean, I guess it is just a folklore story.”
He says casually.
But Green notices his curled up hands hiding under the table.
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that DB. There’s probably one out there… just waiting for a vulnerable crew to wipe out like they were never one of them in the first place.”
Grey says teasingly, with a sly look.
Dark Blue chuckles, with a hint of… nervousness?
Grey swears she hears that. But it seems no one else noticed except for the same culprit. Green, who seems to share that slightly nervous look.
There’s something going on with those two.
…But Grey can’t just say that. She needs hard evidence.
She may be a skeptic, but she takes pride in being logical as well!
So for now, she doesn’t mention it, and just keeps an eye on them.
“What would we do if we encountered one?!”
White asks nervously, as his visor drooped down.
“Well…”
Grey flips through the old book, the book puffing dust into the air with every flip.
Dark Blue takes this as an opportunity to leave, swiftly leaving the Cafeteria.
Green looks back nervously, before looking back at the others.
“I'm going to get my tasks done. See you guys later.”
Green says, waving as he leaves the Cafeteria.
Purple and White waved, while Grey slowly waved, her visor squinting as they left.
“So Grey, how long has this folklore been around for?”
Purple asks, to which Grey perks up at.
“Oh for generations! It’s hard to tell, since folklore relies heavily on word of mouth, but research shows that the oldest known copy of this story was from 30-33 AD! They say something happened between a god and his friend or something? I’m not too well versed in Human history, I’m afraid.”
Grey says proudly, hugging the book.
“To think that someone of the same species would follow in the Imposter’s footsteps…”
White says, seeming lost in thoughts.
“Nahhhh don’t worry ‘bout that. You’d have to see something seriously messed up to turn against your own kind.”
Grey says casually.
They all stare in silence for a moment.
“Welp, I’m going to do some tasks.”
Grey says calmly as she stands.
She silently leaves, with White and Purple still sitting silently.
Purple looks at White blankly as White dissociates.
“...White?”
