“Miwa, I’ve told you multiple times, didn’t I? If you think you’re incapable of handling high-level curses, it’s better to retreat—rather, you should call for help from your mission partner. Me.” He scolds while gently patching up her gash on the arm.
She sighs. “I know, ‘kichi, it’s just- you always seem to be doing all of the work. I find it unfair, y’know? Leaving the heavy, dirty work to you. I just wanted to help.”
“And I really appreciate you for that. However, you would be doing me a much greater favor if you just kept yourself safe. Trust me, it feels rewarding when I know that you’ll come home without a single scratch.”
“Are you… calling me weak? I- don’t get me wrong! I know I’m weak but-”
Kokichi lightly chuckles in response. The sight of his face wrinkling with humor is undeniably making Miwa flush.
“Hah… I didn’t say that. I admire your fighting spirit, I really do. But what I'm implying here is you should be more aware of your capabilities, you can’t just keep on risking yourself like this.”
“Hmm, you didn’t deny it. So you think I am weak huh?”
“And now you’re just messing with me…”
“Hehe, can’t help it! You look funny when you get nervous about what to say. Don’t worry, ‘kichi. I know I’m not strong, but I’m really trying my best to keep up with ‘ya!”
As usual, Kokichi delicately smiles at her uplifting demeanor. She never fails to make him feel at ease.
“It’s time, Miwa.”
“Ughhh, no wa-”
Kokichi does it anyway.
He firmly wraps the bandage around her arm and seals it tight.
“Ow- Hey! You didn’t even let me count to three! You know I hate that part…”
“Yes, I’m sorry, but it would make the job easier, you know? Faster too. Plus it’s done now. I saved myself from your theatrics.”
“Rude. You owe me a movie night.”
“I see. I just did you a favor and in return… I do you… another favor?”
“Mmmm, yep.”
“...Well that’s a first.”
He asks for her preferences anyway.
“Fine. Rom-com or Sci-Fi?”
“Wellll… we just finished Only You, soooo”
“Got it, Sci-Fi it is. How does WALL-E sound?”
“Sounds like a deal of hot gyudon to me. Oh, I’ll never get tired of it- you know me so much ‘kichi!”
“Right, no crying on my shirt this time though…”
“Hihi, can’t promise ‘ya that!”
