Chapter Text
Wifies hadn’t heard from Hummer in 2 weeks.
2 weeks too long, it felt like an eternity since they last saw each other, an eternity since he wrote that email that never got a reply.
Although, after a half an hour, he heard a knock on his door. it wasn’t loud, nor was it soft, and it wasn’t something he’d been expecting.. He didn’t order anything, and he didn't invite anyone over.
Despite his confusion, he still got up and walked over to the door.
He placed a soft hand on the door knob,
twisting it and gently pulling the door open.
As he looked up, he couldn’t help but freeze momentarily as a familiar face stood on his doorstep.
Hummer.
—————————————-
Wifies basically threw himself onto Hummer as he wrapped his arms around the man's waist, not bothering to look up as Hummer let out a small ‘oof’ from the impact, staggering back slightly.
“Jesus- ok, god, you have quite the grip.” Hummer said, snickering. “I can't breathe, Wifies.” Hummer breathed out, patting Wifies on the back gently.
“Oh, sorry, my bad, I'm just.. really happy to see you.” Wifies paused for less than a second. “and shocked, to say the least…” Wifies chuckled, releasing Hummer from the hug as he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
“I- Dude, I have so many questions-“
“aand let's save those questions for when we sit down, maybe?” Hummer interrupted, gesturing to the couch inside the home.
“can i…?”
“..O-oh, yeah, come in, please.”
As the two sat down on the cushions, Wifies drew his legs under himself in a half criss cross. Hummer had simply pulled his legs up to his chest, resting his TV head on his hands that lay against his knees.
“So, what happened? you were there and then you weren’t. It doesn't make sense, I've been thinking about it ever since you practically ghosted me,” Wifies said, adding a judgmental tone at the end, earning an awkward chuckle from Hummer, a soft, almost inaudible static playing out of the speaker of his TV head.
“Well, that's… a big question I don't think I have an answer for.. at the moment.”
“I'm not buying that.” Wifies added quickly to Hummer's half-assed answer.
“I…I don't really wanna talk about it… not right now, at least.”
Wifies was obviously disappointed by that answer, but decided to leave it at that. “Alright, alright. touchy subject.”
.. silence.
“… So,” Hummer starter, pausing to lift his head and turn his body towards Wifies. “How have.. you been?” He asked, subconsciously shifting his hand closer to Wifies.
Wifies just scoffed, picking up his hands and fidgeting with them a bit. W-Well, I mean, nothing interesting, really…” He cleared his throat, not knowing what to say.
“oh, uhm, do you want anything to drink? I have water, or lemonade..”
“I'll take water.. thanks.”
And with that, Wifies stood up, walking to the kitchen and pouring a glass of water, dropping in a couple of ice cubes that cracked as they plipped into the glass.
He walked back to the couch, handing the glass to Hummer as he took the cup, clearing his throat as he put the cup to his “face”, pouring it into a small crevice at the bottom of the TV’s screen.
“I have a question…” Wifies said skeptically, narrowing his eyes as he watched Hummer ‘drink’ the water..
Was he drinking it? whatever, that didn't matter.
“and I have an answer…hopefully.” Hummer said, tilting his head to the side slightly at Wifie’s staring as he put down the glass.
“How.. God, this might be a bit weird but..”
he paused, thinking for a second before resuming.
“ How do you drink stuff?” he stuttered, gesturing to Hummers TV head.
“or- like, how does your anatomy work? Are you like a robot, or are you a human.. with organs and stuff..?”
He questioned, leaning forward a bit.
“uuuhh, would it be weird to say both?” Hummer replied hesitantly.
“L-Like, I have a human body, but I have wires and stuff connected to my head that connect to my neck.” He says, pointing to the wires on the back of his head that, in fact, connect into small ports on his neck.
“its a bit unsettling to see, but if I take out the wires I can take off my TV head, and then I do have a… ‘normal’ human head..” He explained,
putting the word “normal” in air quotations with his fingers, turning his head back to Wifies,
who was staring at him with a look in his eyes that Hummer couldn’t quite decipher.
“..why’re you staring at me like that..?” Hummer asked nervously, fidgeting with his hands like Wifies.
“Sorry, sorry, i just.. it’s.. I don't think I've ever met someone like you.” Wifies says, resting his chin on his hand. “not that that’s a bad thing, i’m just.. fascinated, to say the least.”
Hummer stared at Wifies, momentarily caught off guard by that. “Well- ok, you didn’t have to word it like that..”
He could feel his face getting hotter by the second as Wifies stared at him,
that look on his face as his chin rested on his hand.
…
“I’ve been waiting for you to respond to my email.” Wifies finally said to break the growing silence, with a tone that hinted he was.. still irritated, in a way.
caught off guard, Hummer pulled at the collar of his shirt nervously, looking away from Wifies. “Oh, yeah, that… sorry ‘bout that..”
“It’s fine, I guess. though you could’ve at least tried to reach out to me, like, ‘Hey, Wifies! I’m not dead and instead doing super well!’ or at least something like that.” Wifies said brackishly, exaggerating his hand movements. He let out a heavy sigh, dragging a hand down his face and setting it back down beside him on the couch.
“Sorry, I made it weird. I’m glad you’re ok.”
Hummer turned his attention back to Wifies at the apology. “Well, you have a reason to be mad, or preferably worried, I did ghost you for a whole two weeks. My bad.”
“After you disappeared like that, yeah, I was worried.” Wifies said, pausing for a moment, turning his head away from Hummer.
“God, Hummer, I was.. so worried.” he breathed out, a noise escaping his throat, sounding somewhere between a sob and a laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck.
Hummer reached out and grabbed Wifies hand, holding it in his own as he gently rubbed his thumb over the back of Wifies hand, before pulling his hand away slightly and intertwining their fingers.
“…I’m here now, I promise, if you’ll just trust me… i promise i wont ever leave you again.”
Wifie’s face turned bright red at Hummer's sudden touch. his eyes darted from Hummer's face to his hand, opening his jaw to say something, yet nothing came out.
He just accepted the touch, curling in his hand and interlocking their digits.
“I.. I trust you, Hummer.”
