Hi, I would like to address a comment left on one of my fics.
Now, I absolutely don't want anyone to go after this person, which is why I deleted their original comment in order to hide their user and identity. They were very respectful in their comment and honest on their feelings which is why this is not an attack on them or anything, just a statement on this topic.
1. I do not, repeat, do not fetishize Jude Bellingham for his race.
I am a POC and I do understand why the person has felt offended by many of the works in the bottom Erling tag involving Jude Bellingham.
I can understand as there are many, many sick individuals who fetishize people for their race and culture, making it really offensive to people of that race.
I want to clarify that I am NOT a person who fetishizes individuals who identify as black or POC.
The reason why I write many of my fanfics with top Jude is due to the fact I started writing based off some art I had seen from another creator. Both of my fics are inspired by their art about these two individuals. In these pieces of art, Jude is depicted as the top and Erling as the bottom.
2. I am aware that both of these people are real people and aren't in a relationship
I do understand that both people are in a relationship with their own partners and lives. I do not ship the actual people featured in my fics.
Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham are both real people and everything about them in this is fictional. Completely fabricated.
Which includes their personalities. I do my absolute best to make their personalities as different from the people as possible while trying to keep it somewhat similar.
But, I do not want to perceive Jude as "A rough, baby making machine" based on racial stereotypes made by sick, disgusting people.
Jude in my Fics is perceived similar to Pepper_gums art, a rival to Erling and a partner.
3. My content isn't there to offend anyone.
The reason on why I write under this tag is because:
1. I was very inspired by some art and I thought people would definitely appreciate actual writing of it.
2. Many people perceive the concept that the "larger, stronger, heavier" person is the top of the relationship and the "shorter, thinner, and basically tinier" person is the bottom. Most people under the "Bottom Erling" tag write FICS that I have perceived as destroying THESE stereotypes about these two.
It's the reason why Omega Erling Haaland was a tag before Bottom Erling Haaland, because many want to see someone who is normally seen as a "top" shown in a way that people wouldn't normally see them.
This perception is to break the stereotype of "a person who seems more dominant" should be dominant. In reality, anyone could be a bottom for anyone. Who said a woman can't take lead in the bedroom with a man? Who said the absolute gorgeous muscle mommy can't be treated like a pillow princess by her gf?
It's the same psychology that is applied in this case with Jude and Erling. Erling is the bottom and Jude is the top in order to break media stereotypes.
4. For those that think this is a hate fic, it isn't!
In fact, I'm very open to criticism because it helps me grow as a person and helps me improve my writing in many ways! My last goal would be to ever offend anyone with my writing, knowing that I provide entertainment for this amazing community of people.
So, please do not think this is a targeted attack. In fact, please do not attack the person who left the comment because they gave their honest opinion very respectfully and gave polite criticism. They had the courage to confront a stereotype that they have seen in the media and correct it!
It is the reason why I deleted the comment, in order to protect the person and their identity. I know how people feel getting attacked for their opinion, as I once had a very close friend commit from a ton of backlash. They were a fellow author on AO3 and are the reason why I left certain toxic fandoms behind.
Unfortunately, this isn't one of those scenarios where anyone wanted to offend anyone and I appreciate them treating me as an equal and talking about how they feel.
5. If you ever feel offended, please know to never respond with hate and leave if you are truly uncomfortable.
Now I am not against criticism, but please, please, never use slurs or hurtful words.
Luckily, the person who left the comment never did, but anyone going after them, stop. Please don't do it.
AO3 is one of those places where everyone is open to everything, including messed up stuff. This includes stereotypes, kinks that would raise police eyebrows, writing that would immediately get CPS on the line, and much more.
There are truly horrible, horrible fandoms, such as the School Shooter fandom. This is not targeted towards them or anything, but there are truly some interesting people who romanticize School shooters like the columbine killers even though the two boys caused one of the worst monstrosities in American History.
Other fics include Incest, Gore, and much more! However, this is a site and I am a writer. I truly cannot do anything about anyone and their opinions knowing I only write to make people happy. If someone ever comes to me with a truly messed up request, I will immediately decline all means to write it, no matter how angry someone gets.
That being said, I will not stop writing Bottom Erling and Top Jude; however, I will try to be way more mindful in my writing and will specify in the summary that I am not fetishizing them AT ALL.
