Living far from everything had many advantages; the calm and peace were soothing. He didn't need to meddle in the affairs of any of the civilizations in that place or anything like that. It was even comforting, and few people actually visited him besides his siblings or extremely close friends. Saparata couldn't ask for more than that; it was all perfect in his eyes.
Today was a tiring day; he spent most of the time finishing his own house, barely stopping to truly rest. He hoped his night would be calm, without anything to interrupt him and frustrate him right at the start of his rest. He took a refreshing shower, washing away all the sweat from that exhausting day, and put on some simple, light pajamas, given the heat that often prevails in that region, even though he lived across from the sea.
He walked to the upstairs bedroom, his feet dragging lightly across the floor. Finally seated beside his bed, he prepared to lie down, but something caught the angel's attention. Incessant knocking echoed on his bedroom window. He stood still for a while, observing a distorted silhouette in the frosted glass, the wings on its head moving along with the curiosity within Saparata. He certainly should have been startled by it, but, thanks to a certain person, this small intrusion had become routine.
He got up slowly, stressed that his sleep had just been disturbed, his feet barely leaving the floor covered by a soft carpet, not even grabbing his slippers out of laziness.
He opened the window with some difficulty; sleepiness hadn't helped at all, his body was still half-sluggish, but curiosity got the better of him. It had been a long time since the last time. He rubbed one eye when the faint moonlight entered the room, gently illuminating every object within its reach and, most importantly, the angel that lay there.
He noticed a figure he couldn't identify, having been partially blinded by the dim light. When his eyes adjusted, he considered for a few seconds kicking that person out of there or simply slamming the window in their face. But his mind went silent the moment he fixed his gaze on the young man standing there, his black hair with purple streaks, leaning against the windowsill as if he weren't hanging from the second floor, a short smile revealing his fangs while his dark violet eyes gleamed as he finally caught a clear view of the gray-haired angel.
– Flux? How… Why are you here? — Saparata said, his voice slightly hoarse. He had expected to see the other, but that didn't erase the fact that he had appeared without explanation. Subtly, he tried to straighten his own clothes, noticing how disheveled he looked in his completely wrinkled pajamas, while the other had a perfectly pressed dress shirt and didn't seem to care about the shorter man's terrible appearance.
— Hey, Saps! I just wanted to bother you a little. — The newcomer replied, his smile never leaving him as he looked him up and down. He started to enter even before receiving permission, seeming eager to finally get inside. His foot almost caught him and made him fall, but he quickly disguised it by pretending to close the window.
— Well, you've already succeeded. Now, please leave? — He crossed his arms, glaring at the taller man with feigned irritation. His expression wavered for a few seconds when he finally noticed Fluixon's dejected appearance. He didn't seem to be having his best day; his eyes looked even deeper with dark circles, and the vampire's pallor seemed even worse. He looked extremely worn out. Flux just laughed, not seeming truly bothered by Saparata constantly analyzing him.
The dark-haired one approached the double bed in the center, his feet dragging, his gaze straying for a few seconds from Saps, as if he didn't want to miss a single detail, waiting for some reaction. He sat near the headboard, trying to ignore the suffocating silence that lingered. Normally, the other would have already unleashed a thousand stories or dramas about his beautiful night's peaceful sleep being abruptly taken away, but today there was only silence. The vampire's lips pressed together. Had he noticed so quickly?
Saparata narrowed his eyes when the other's expression faltered, concern becoming apparent. He approached carefully, sitting down in front of the undead creature. He began to consider the possibilities of what could have caused this, but he already knew it was due to the creature's negligence in feeding itself. Flux always said he didn't depend on blood, that he could "easily live without problems without a dose." Saps knew it was because he cared about the people around him. After all, most of them were human.
— So, I imagine you haven't taken care of yourself again? — He crossed his arms as he spoke, his expression hardening, trying to convey some seriousness about the subject that Flux often avoided or treated as if it were a joke.
— Oh, please... You're not my father or anything, you know? I'm perfectly fine and on my feet as far as I know. — He replied sharply, his eyes averting from the cherub who was staring at him as if he'd killed someone with a dripstone.
— Flux, you and I both know you're not okay. Look at your face! You look more dead than before! — His voice rose suddenly, indignation overflowing in his tone as his hands gestured for the boy to really pay attention.
— Rude... Look, Saps, we don't need to get into this since I didn't even faint or anything. There's nothing to worry about, and I'm technically dead, you know that.
— How long has it been since you drank real blood? — He interrupted the rest of the monologue that was likely to follow. The question came quickly and sharply, and the vampire fell silent instantly at how direct the question was. The young man with jet-black hair turned his face to the side, grumbling softly like a sulky child.
— Hm, I don't owe you that explanation. — He glanced at the man who was reprimanding him; the rare mixture of anger and concern on his face made Fluixon swallow hard before murmuring softly, so softly that Saparata certainly wouldn't have heard if he hadn't been sitting across from him. — Perhaps since early afternoon…
— Oh, what?! It's almost midnight and you… — He took a deep breath, trying to understand what was going through the other person's head to completely ignore something so important for half the day just out of pride and ego.
— So what? I think I still look fine, don't I? — he retorted dismissively, completely ignoring the warnings he'd received. Leaning back against the headboard, he bit his tongue inside his mouth while pretending that none of Saps's excessive concern for him affected him in any way. — I also doubt we'll be able to find blood easily at this time of day. It's dangerous.
— Then drink my blood.
Fluixon turned his head towards Saparata so quickly that, if he could, he almost broke his own neck. No one said anything, they just stared at each other after the thoughtless proposal. The angel could feel his cheeks burning as he realized what he had said, lowering his head to avoid being stared at even more while biting the lower labium, trying to think of what he could say without increasing his own embarrassment.
You said it wouldn't be easy to find another blood source for you. — He closed his eyes, almost as if he could pretend Flux wasn't staring directly at him, his hand scratching the back of his neck. — I don't know if angels are on your diet or anything like that, but I also don't want to see you slowly dying in front of me.
The dark-haired ones remained quiet, their eyebrows furrowing as they pondered what to say. Saps didn't seem so remorseful; he hadn't even denied what he'd said before. The vampire knew very well that he could hurt the other deeply, something he certainly didn't want to do now or ever. But also, honestly, he felt his head growing heavier with each passing second; each blink took seconds longer, and he could feel how cold his own body was.
Flux straightened up, analyzing Saps as if he wanted to make sure what he said was true. Did he have any idea? Of course not. The angel's only wings – found on his head – closed slightly, as if fearing what he was about to say, his white hair falling lightly over his shoulder and face, hiding part of the expectant expression on his features. It was obvious he didn't regret it. The taller man rolled his eyes before sighing and finally breaking the tension and suffocating silence that stretched even further:
— Okay. I accept.
— I knew it, I knew it! What I said was idiotic, of course you— WHAT!? — His golden eyes widened, unable to believe what he had heard. His lips curved subtly upwards, even as he tried to disguise the excited expression that had appeared. — Seriously?
— Yes. — He wanted to say more, perhaps make a sarcastic comment about how freakish Saps was. But his own patience was running out, the curiosity and desire that arose when he thought about what it would be like to suck the angel's blood becoming even stronger. Not to mention how he knew he really hadn't fed in far too long.
Fluixon approached slowly, ignoring the other's momentary confusion. He grasped his wrist, pulling the boy's body even closer, the distance disappearing with every slight movement. He chuckled softly at the jolt he gave the other when their cold skin touched warm skin; the difference was striking but very welcome to both. Their eyes met, the violet softening with the bright gold. It seemed too intimate for just two friends, but it wasn't as if they wanted to think about that now.
— Are you sure?
— Oh, I'm absolutely sure.
The vampire sighed indignantly, but didn't move away at any point. He carefully pushed him onto the mattress, laying Saps down and watching as he turned his face to expose his neck without resistance, the smile on his face widening. One of his arms helped him support himself so that he was on top of the shorter man, his free hand rising to his waist and resting there. His face moved to the boy's collarbone, his nose lightly brushing against it, causing low giggles to escape the angel due to the tickling. His mouth opened, the tips of his fangs making contact with the tanned skin until finally he began to pierce it with a bite.
He could feel the muscles tensing and then relaxing, a low, trembling groan of pain escaping Saps as he brought a hand to Flux's jet-black hair, gently squeezing the strands, not pushing them away, but rather to steady himself. His teeth pierced the skin completely, tearing it effortlessly, but the care taken not to brutally lacerate the skin was easily noticeable. The vampire began to drink the blood when he felt comfortable enough, and the taste in his mouth was unlike anything he had imagined. His taste buds were flooded with a sweet flavor, blending with the metal in a way that was almost graceful. Addictive, to say the least. A low sound of satisfaction escaped Flux's throat.
He sank his teeth in and took as much as he could, not wanting to stop so soon. Everything he had tasted before had never been as good as this. He didn't know if that feeling was because he hadn't eaten all day or because Saparata was actually so irresistible. He preferred to believe the second option. The hand that was on the other's waist moved up to the side of the man's face, carefully pulling his head to make more room. Saps willingly allowed it, a sigh escaping his throat. He continued for a while, feeling almost hypnotized by it, the blood beginning to pump through his veins, the feeling of faintness disappearing, and the coldness in his body leaving him as he felt satisfied.
Flux released the bite when he heard a few more grunts from Saparata and felt the grip on his hair intensify. Licking the remaining blood that began to trickle from the wound, not wasting a single drop, he left a little kiss under the reddish mark as if that could make it heal faster. He adjusted himself, both hands resting on the angel's sides so he could observe him and see if he was alright. The sight he had was beautiful. His head was still slightly turned, his neck still exposed while his chest rose and fell faster than before, his gray hair was spread across the pillow and framed his figure, his cheeks red – whether from blood loss or some other reason.
And the worst part was that expression, that smile he had even after having some of his blood drained, the way his half-closed eyes shone slightly when he noticed the visible change in the vampire upon finally coming into contact with blood. His blood. It was obvious he didn't regret it. Flux didn't know whether to find it repulsive or ignore how he felt a different kind of warmth in his chest. It had always been strange how Saps made him feel alive, even though the vampire had never truly felt that sensation before.
— Are you alright? — Saparata asked, his voice trembling, one of his hands rising to his face above him, carefully wiping away some of the reddish smudge at the corner of his lips.
— Are you alright? — He returned the question, still worried if he had hurt the boy badly. His eyebrows furrowed when he heard the gray-haired boy's soft chuckle; it was like a silly joke to the boy. Fluixon held the hand that was near his own face, intertwining his fingers with the other's while maintaining his previous expression. Saps didn't seem fazed. — You just lost blood, are you sure you're alright?
It seemed Saps was surprised by the concern, but he quickly regained a calm smile as he brought his face a little closer to the other's so they could look directly at each other. The sincerity etched in his eyes, the way his wings subtly opened to give a full view of him, and the few white strands of hair on his face were certainly something Flux hadn't expected. He thought he would be scared, perhaps disgusted, and would back away without a second thought. But, we're talking about Saparata. It was clear he would do anything for Fluixon without hesitation, and honestly, Flux would do the same without a second thought.
— I'm fine, better than ever to tell you the truth. — Of course he liked that, what else could you expect? His mouth curved further, the ulterior motive almost obvious, no effort to disguise how much he enjoyed and took advantage of the situation. — I wouldn't mind if you bit me again, you know? It's definitely a better feeling than I imagined.
The taller one rolled his eyes, even though he felt the urge to smile back and perhaps grant the brazen request. But he controlled himself, his mind much clearer now after everything, and he was fully aware that if he wasn't careful, the consequences wouldn't be good for either of them, especially since no one knew – besides Saparata – Flux's secret. The violet returned to the golden hue; the purplish streak amidst the strands the same color as the night sky suited the vampire perfectly. Saps, for some reason, liked it very much, something Flux thought silly, but he kept it so he could see how the other insisted on caressing it, just as he was about to do.
He surrendered to the touch, his eyelids closing as he felt the angel's delicate hand wander across his face. The way the fingers gently traced every corner, sometimes tangling in strands of hair, was almost as if he wanted to memorize every part with his own touch. A faint smile appeared on Fluixon's face at this thought, not even realizing that the idea of Saps wanting to know every part of him made him extremely happy. He could hear the low, melodic laugh coming from him, opening his eyes as his brow furrowed the moment the other gently cupped his chin.
— What's so funny? — A pout formed on his lips, his expression exaggeratedly dramatic as he tried to feign irritation at the man's actions below him, even though it was possible to see how subtly relaxed he was at the sight. That angel would be his downfall, and he would love to be torn apart in his name.
— You look adorable like that, darling. — The nickname came across as casual, as if it hadn't just short-circuited the vampire's mind. He arched an eyebrow, curious to see why the boy hadn't offered any sarcastic, defensive, or self-centered response, his face quickly breaking into a mischievous smile at the opportunity. He moved his face a little closer to the other's, their eyes locked, even though Saps could perceive Flux's poorly disguised glances at his mouth. — Cat got your tongue?
— No, but you could do it. — They both fell silent. The phrase hung in the air as if it were something embarrassing, at least in Fluixon's view, who had the most pathetic expression imaginable. He completely broke the gaze, lowering his head as he thought of a way to pretend that nothing had come out of his mouth. Saparata's silence didn't help; it only made the man want to hide from everything and everyone. — I'm sorry.
It was so embarrassing it hurt. He was starting to think of a thousand ways to escape that situation, even considering throwing himself out of that window and never appearing in front of him again in his life. The only thing he forgot was that Saps was still holding his jaw, and it wasn't long before he lifted Flux's face closer again, closer than before. For some reason, he was more aware of everything: the way their noses touched, the way the angel's wings moved when he stared at the vampire's lips for a few extra seconds, how those eyes softened and widened even more, a look they knew was directed exclusively at Fluixon.
The silence stretched even further; neither seemed to have the courage to move or speak to break the suffocating tension. Time seemed slower than ever; he couldn't tell if they had been in that position for minutes or just a few seconds. But it didn't matter; one way or another, it was becoming unbearable not to do anything about it. The dark-haired one brought a hand to the other's nape, tilting his head to the side as he almost finished closing the distance, their lips brushing lightly, their breaths seeming to become one. They stared at each other once more, as they always did; it was almost as if they couldn't take their eyes off each other for a single second.
— Can I? — The question came softly, Flux's normally arrogant tone completely gone, replaced by something more vulnerable and intimate. Something only Saps could hear. His eyebrows furrowed as he awaited the answer, a pang of uncertainty and fear of rejection present even though they were so far away. He didn't want it all to be a lie, a way of playing a trick on him as if it were a joke. He knew Saps would never do something like that, but he couldn't help but feel his own chest tighten at the thought.
Saparata's hands moved up to Fluixon's cheeks, pulling the other's face until their lips finally met. A soft touch at first, as light as a feather, a hint of the shyness they both felt was noticeable as they were more still than expected, but neither pulled away. He felt a shock coursing through his veins, the heat rising to his face as it dawned on him that this was really happening. Flux sighed against the other's lips and finally took the initiative to move, Saps smiled broadly as he continued to prolong the kiss. They both moved in sync, slowly and shyly, following their own rhythm and savoring the moment.
They reluctantly pulled away to catch their breath and observe the mess that simple kiss had made of them. They remained too close. Saparata chuckled softly when he noticed the other's bright eyes, the way the pink in his cheeks highlighted his freckles, and the way the dark strands of hair fell slowly across his face. One of the angel's hands brushed the strands of hair aside, wanting to savor every expression Fluixon had, expressions he so appreciated and wished to keep each one forever. His wings fluttered, opening and closing before settling still at the corners of his head, a silly smile clearly visible.
— Does that answer your question? — He teased, twirling a dark strand of hair around his fingers while his other hand slid down to the shoulder of the man above him. The vampire rolled his eyes, not at all annoyed, his subtle pout appearing as always, dramatic and cute. Saps intertwined his arms around the taller man's neck, pulling him closer in an awkward hug, their foreheads touching.
He loved how Flux behaved with him, completely different from the image many would have of him. Who would have guessed that there was a spoiled, visibly lovestruck little boy hidden behind that extremely apathetic scowl? It seemed the other was still trying to understand what had happened; the silence coming from him was very different from the norm, and surely the angel would take advantage of it to memorize every little feature of his. Fluixon sealed their lips once more, this time with more confidence. Their eyes closed, and Saps murmured playfully as he let Flux guide him; the intoxicating sensation never left them, only encouraging them to surrender even more to desire.
He didn't even realize when, but their tongues began to subtly intertwine, exploring and mapping each other's mouths, leaving no corner behind. Saparata made a point of subtly running his tongue over the tips of Fluixon's fangs, teasing him. The arms around the vampire's neck tightened, pulling him as close as he could, while the angel opened his mouth wider to give more space, a low moan escaping him. Flux's hand on the nape of his neck lightly tightened his grip on the strands of hair, drawing him closer as their breaths became one once more. It was almost as if he wanted to feel every sound, every part that Saps emitted and possessed, and honestly, he would gladly let that happen. If he had known that when they kissed it would be like this, he would have done it much sooner.
Once again, the need to truly breathe became apparent; both sighed the moment their mouths broke. Their chests rose and fell rapidly, affected by what had happened, their lips slightly swollen and glistening in the moonlight. They wanted to continue like that forever, as if nothing else mattered, only being with each other, and they would savor every second they had. A few more kisses were exchanged, low murmurs that were almost incomprehensible being uttered. Fluixon moved from Saps' mouth to his jaw, tracing a series of kisses to the side of his neck without the wound, occasionally giving light bites that didn't tear the skin but made Saparata flinch slightly while laughing at the tickling.
The vampire gave a few more kisses, occasionally carefully sucking on the skin to purposefully leave a mark in that area, he smiled slightly with each reaction. Saps chuckled softly, turning his face to the side to give him more space to continue, even though Saparata told him to stop tickling. Fluixon rested his nose against the other's collarbone, smelling the soft scent of soap, perfume and, beneath it all, blood emanating from him as he finally let him calm down from the previous sensation, the laughter ceasing and turning into only a wide smile on the angel's face. Flux remained with his head resting there, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the momentary peace he witnessed. Just the two of them.
— Flux? — He called, subtly prolonging the nickname as he always did, as if he were singing. He murmured softly, showing that he was listening to everything Saps wanted to say, only he was too absorbed in the fresh memories of his lips and his taste. — Look at me, please?
He straightened up instantly, not quickly enough to frighten him, but precisely enough that he didn't even need to think twice before doing what he asked. Their eyes met once more, something in his golden irises showing genuine happiness and admiration, without the mask of forced cordiality he gave to others; his cheeks carried a subtle rosy hue, while his face displayed a smile that Flux couldn't help but weakly return. He noticed how Saparata bit his lower lip before continuing to speak, averting his gaze for a few seconds before gathering courage.
- I love you.
The phrase came softly, a confession that didn't need fanfare, a truth anyone could see but which he chose to say face to face. Fluixon smiled genuinely, even with the slight surprise he felt at not expecting the other to say that, an instant relief flooding his body as he felt any remaining tension completely vanish when Saps allowed himself to show his feelings, which Flux reciprocated without a doubt.
— I love you too, Saps.
He could see a weight lift from Saparata, his expression softening as he leaned in for a real hug, pressing Fluixon's body lightly against his, just as Flux did the same, despite not being in the habit of it. Perhaps that's what he really needed, something simple and far from any worries he might have away from his beloved's arms. Perhaps what he had been thinking of doing to him wasn't worth it; sacrificing one person for thousands seemed utterly idiotic now, and he was grateful he had decided to make that visit to realize that. As he drifted off, he remembered the still-open bite on him, slowly releasing himself to examine it and realize he really should treat it, knowing the pain would worsen.
— Hey, let's take care of that wound. I don't want to hear you complaining about any more pain later. — He said as she stood up, carefully getting off Saparata and sitting on the edge of the bed to wait for him to do the same.
— No need! I can handle it, you know? — He retorted, a pout forming on his lips, his arms crossed as he feigned irritation.
— Oh yes, you'll regret it soon enough, and I'll be the one to blame. — He stood up, still expecting the angel to do the same, completely ignoring his clumsy tantrum. — Let's go.
— Geez, what's the need? — He complained, following the taller figure who looked at him with complete indifference to his pleas. Saps sat down, still determined not to do what he said, and Fluixon, knowing this, took his hand and helped him up as he began to lead the angel to the house's bathroom, moving as if he already knew every part of it, which wasn't a lie. — I already said I don't need to!
— Enough with the stubbornness, I already regretted biting you if I knew you'd complain so much afterward, — He lied without even trying to hide it, gently squeezing their intertwined hands. — And I won't do it again.
— Why!? I liked it when you bit me! — He exclaimed, approaching the other with a puppy-dog look as if only that could make Fluixon rethink everything he had said. — Just one more time?
Flux swallowed hard at the proximity, slowly averting his gaze and squeezing the shorter man's hand once more. A sigh escaped him as he realized they were already in front of the bathroom, carefully leading the angel inside. Saparata put his arms around his shoulders, pulling Flux away from the shelf so he could focus solely on the angel. The dark-haired man took a deep breath, letting a hand rest on the other's waist, looking him up and down, knowing full well that this stubbornness would be difficult to shake.
— Alright, as long as you let me take care of you. — He conceded, struggling not to smile at the little squeal of happiness that escaped him the moment he agreed. Oh my, how he loved that angel, his angel.
