Work Text:

In a train station, everyday there was a boy, who ran towards a train, but no matter how fast he ran, he always missed it. The boy tried everything: waking up earlier, taking different routes, but nothing seemed to work; he just never managed it. After countless mornings where the train was leaving without him, the boy started to ask himself: why do the others who live further than me,who wake up later than me manage to get mine train, and I can’t? What am I constantly doing wrong? Or I’ am not good enough for catch mine train? The boy to get that very intrusive thought out of his mind, began to get up a little bit earlier each time, telling himself to make the journey to the station as if his life depended on it.. Even so, he still missed his train. The gleam in his eyes was gradually being replaced by dark circles under his eyes that, were growing darker and larger more and more every day… several months later the boy looked like a zombie and when he rushed past some families, the parents covered the eyes of their children, hoping their pure and sweet little kids will never end up like that monster. One day while the boy was climbing the escalator, he saw his train standing in front of him, he did it, this meant that his sacrifices and suffering had not been in vain. As soon as he set foot on the platform of his long-awaited train, his tired eyes closed, his weak legs gave way and they slumped to the ground .When he opened his eyes again, his train had once more left without him, but the boy no longer felt heartbroken about missing it; in fact, he felt nothing at all, he heard only the announcement of some random train arriving at the platform where he lay on the floor. Almost automatically, his body moved toward the yellow line just as the loudspeakers’ shrill voice warned to stay back from it. He no longer felt the pain of missing his train.
