It was a calm day. Almost no customers showed up at the cafe, besides Pierrot who always finds time to come and order his milkshake and Harlequin who just seemed to be there to get Pierrot annoyed.
Weird relationship these two had... But it was kinda comforting to have company. Although them being not human sometimes put you in some... concerning... situations.
Like the time you caught Pierrot breaking in your house. Apperantly he thought you would be asleep by then (as if it makes it any better).
After which you got mad and scolded him for quite a while, which he sat there with his puppy eyes looking at you and apologizing profusely saying he would never be doing it again and he never intended to scare you.
Eventually you felt pity for the lovesick puppy and ended up having to put some ground rules fir house visits after that. Aaaandd he left by jumping from the second story balcony.
Harlequin on the other hand never had a problem with scaring you unlike Pierrot.
He went and took of his mask the first day you met. Even though it was in dark it was clear that he wasn't human. Not to mention the... tentacles? Not sure what they were but something which seemed like tentacles definitely was coiling around you that time.
You wonder if they knew that you knew they aren't humans. And if they didn't, well... how would they react to you finding out? Would you be dinner? Probably not if Pierrot caught you before they could.
Without you even realising it was closing time. You basicly had to sho the two out while they were still glaring at eachother.
As you were telling them to leave Harlequin waved his hand dramaticly to his head
"Oh my dear..." and blurted a dramatic sigh with
"Tired of me already? But worry not the nights' still young. Who knows maybe I'll find you somewehere else~"
You chuckle and roll your eyes as you catch Pierrot glaring at him as he shoves Harlequin aside.
He wisperes "Pay no mind to him my dear. He is speaking nonsense as usual."
Then he grabs your hand to apologize "And... I'm sorry for not coming tonight to watch the show you wanted... Jester gave us some works and I don't think I will be able to come"
A part of you thought Jester gave the work specificly so He wouldn't be able to come, since this mystery job just showed itself after Jester heard you offering Pierrot to watch a movie together.
You didn't say that of course, instead you cupped his cheeks with your hands and gave him a small kiss "Don't worry baby, we'll just find another time."
Said action slowly turned Pierrot into a tomato while Harlequin was laughing so hard at the sight that almost the entire neighborhood heard.

As you walked home you thought what you should be making for dinner. You were supposed to make dinner with Pierrot but thats gone too...
When you entered your apartment you changed into some comfy clothes and turned on the ac as low as it got cause you were sweating all day and needed to cool down ımmediately.
With a tired sigh you starded to look up some recipies....
Which was cut short when you flinched as you heard the balcony door sliding.
You expected Pierrot to pop his head in with his usual smile saying the work got cancelled or something like that, but...no... you isntead met the gaze of the two emerald green eyes.
Harlequin's grin widened as his eyes found you. He threw his cape to the air "Hellooo, dear one. Did you miss me~" he chortled in joy.
Your eyes went wide, you weren't expecting even Pierrot, let alone Harlequin...
He watched your expression of shock "Oh~ What's that expression now my dear... Almost hurtfull." . He chuckled "Are you that dissapointed to see me."
You stared for a monent. Wasn't both of them supposed to be doing the job Jester gave them?
"Were you not supposed to be doing something? Did you finish it early?" You finally questioned.
To wich Harlequin smiled. "I just couldn't wait to see you dear one..."
Thats a no... He definitely ditched whatever he had to do.
"Soooo... You didn't do it."
"Hmmmm, maybee..."
"But can you blame me dear one, it was sooo boring." he replies, still grinnig.
You sigh as you ask "So, what brings you here?"
To wich Harlequin falls over the bed dramaticly and looks over to you "I just wanted to have some fun with you dear one. Is that so bad... "
"I'm not interested if beedroom activites is what you refer to as 'fun'..." you glared.
"And who's asking dear one~ I merely wated to accompany you to the movie night since Pierrot isn't coming." He said, tone a bit less mocking than usual.
You sighed loudly and added "Alright you can stay. But don't try something and you are to wait here till I make somethingto eat. Okay?"
He hummed and nodded entusiasticly. You started to make your way to the kitchen when you realized...
Itching? Yeah he was itching violently at his skin with his claws. Lice? No... he wasn't itching his scalp at all and you were almost certain he was a reptile of some kind.
But the thought escaped your mind before you could think "Do you have fur?".
He looked confused "What?...Fur?"
"Yeah. Do you?"
".....No?"
Silence that followed was awkward. You both looked at eachother before you turned trying to hide your embarrasement for asking something stupid.
"Sorry for the weird question, I'll just go make something to eat. You can just relax while you wait." waving in the air as you left.
On your bed Harlequin laid confused a bit. Maybe you asked because you thought Pierrot and him were the same? And if that was the case the red dog was definitely gonna get punished for showing that... Harlequin thought to himself.
Even if that was the case he could deal with it later. For now he was just gonna relax. He laid on the bed and closed his eyes. He wasn't gonna sleep (he didn't trust you enough for that), just resting his eyes...
