Sometimes, Sirius regrets walking away from the Blacks.
Not enough to go back, but when he finds himself needing money and turning to a Sugar Daddy service to get through the tough times, there’s no denying that he has some regrets.
This isn’t the first time since Sirius left the Blacks three years ago that he’s had to turn to the service, but playing sugar baby isn’t too bad. Especially if it allows him to keep to a certain lifestyle and take from the wealthy that are willing to flaunt their wealth just for a younger companion that is willing to be their pretty doll and arm candy.
Sirius makes for lovely arm candy, and there is a part of him that likes being a pretty doll, too.
Especially for a special sugar daddy.
James Potter.
He had always known that the man had a vast amount of wealth. Though, he always believed that the man tried to live a modest lifestyle (he’s been a bit of a mythical hero many people spread rumors about all through Sirius’ seven years at Hogwarts). The rumors about the youngish auror that took out the biggest and worst dark lord at the ripe age of thirty were half-ridiculous and half-plausible.
Sirius hadn’t known what to expect when he first joined the service and was honestly surprised to see the James Potter listed as a Sugar Daddy, but when they connected, there was no way Sirius would turn him down.
The man was ridiculously attractive and wealthy. He was fun to talk to and very interested in Sirius beyond needing him to be arm candy.
He loves going to James to offer his companionship, even when he doesn’t need the money. He talks to him even outside of the need for money. He just likes hanging out with him and talking to him, without thinking about money or needing him to spread his wealth. He doesn’t want their relationship to be about debt to him.
Which is why he’s been going to other sugar daddies of late, but the last couple have made him feel a little bit… uneasy.
But he finally feels like he’s never going to need a sugar daddy again. He’s finally settled, and now, he can go back to James… not for sugar daddy-ness, but for more.
Even if the last time he’d seen him had been a huge fight.

James Potter had retired early.
The prophecy on his head from a young age had meant that he didn’t have much of a choice in his career, and by the time he had fulfilled his prophecy, he had such a reputation that he really only had retirement as his best option because no one was going to see him as anything other than famous auror and dark lord slayer.
So, instead, he focuses on charities and giving some of his wealth away.
He accidentally fell into a sugar daddy role when he’d been looking for some companionship, but only one sugar baby had really done it for him: Sirius Black.
He had been wary at first. Confused by the idea of a Black needing money, and intrigued by Sirius’ rebellion, he had connected with the young man, fifteen years his junior.
Unlike other sugar babies, Sirius had quickly gotten passed the starry eyes of hero-worship to challenge him in a way that he had never anticipated to enjoy so much. Sirius had made it clear what he was looking for and James had delighted that he felt he could be so vocal and honest.
Which is why he’s not surprised to find Sirius on his doorstep for the first time in three months.
James had, quite happily, paid for his services whenever Sirius needed money, but Sirius had admitted an interest – true interest beyond his wealth – over a year ago and told him that he didn’t want to blur any lines if he could avoid it. That they could talk and hang out, but he didn’t always want it to be about money. He wanted to stand on his own two feet. He didn’t like the thought of James’ offer – just come live with me, I’ll take good care of you – and certainly didn’t like the idea of dating James when he pays for everything.
James tried to be more subtle about helping him and it blew up in his face.
He'd been angry when he found out about James’ donation to a specific scholarship fund so he could finish his schooling three months ago and had refused to see him in person since. They had chatted in letters and through the fire, but any attempt to bring him closer had been met with a wall.
He had to let Sirius come to him.
“James.”
“Sirius, would you like to come in?” James questions, gesturing to the rest of his large home.
Sirius walks in as if he belongs there, probably because he does.
“Tea?”
Sirius shakes his head, looking determined, but uneasy.
“James, I – this is hard for me,” Sirius starts as he follows James to the couch.
“Take your time,” James offers. “I’m here for you whenever you’re ready.”
He watches him carefully. He knows that Sirius has always struggled with money since they met. He’d been used to a certain lifestyle and it’s rough to adjust to, even a couple of years later. Maybe it’s hard to ask for more after the last fight.
He imagines that it might be hard for him to establish a relationship where James takes care of him, in general, but James offers, almost quietly, “If you wanted to accept my offer, you would still be in charge, dictating whatever you’re comfortable with.”
“Really?” he questions, still sounding uncertain. “Even if I want things to be … more than companionship?”
James smiles, some butterflies in his stomach. It’s been a long time since he felt this way.
“I’d love that,” James states, offering his hand. “Anything you want, Si.”
Sirius smiles and slides closer on the couch. “Really?”
“Really,” James assures him as Sirius reaches up to run a hand through his hair.
“Good.”
Then, Sirius leans in, holding James’ chin to guide the kiss.
There’s sparks and butterflies flying through him. Sirius’ lips are soft and perfect, and he wants so much more, he can’t even believe that it’s taken them this long. Money getting in the way…
The kiss breaks.
James smiles at him, and Sirius’ eyes are bright.
“I just – I know it seems like I came here looking for you as a sugar daddy, but I’m not,” Sirius states. “I got a good job, and I feel like I could support myself, but I also like being your arm candy.”
James almost laughs. “You know that you could be my arm candy as my boyfriend, yes?”
Sirius grins. “Yes, and that’s exactly what I was trying to say. If you want to spoil me with your wealth by giving me gifts and helping me to be pretty arm candy, I’m okay with that. As long as I’m an actual boyfriend.”
“I’d love nothing more.”
“Good.”
Another kiss, and just like that, James feels like maybe he’s finally getting everything he’s ever wanted.
Happily Ever After.
