Mafuyu Asahina was doing great. She was floating on air, actually. Of course she was! Her life was perfect after all, perfect grades, archery club, student council, tons of friends, impressive measurements, loving family, bright and promising future. She was an envy, but not the type you'd hate - no, she was the type you looked up to, the type to make you blush when she helped with your homework. Except she wasn't. Not in her eyes, at least. Were they even her eyes? She didn't know what she was. She certainly wasn't whatever she was currently living as. Was she even a girl? Maybe. No. They didn't think of themselves as one, at least. Was he even human? Of course he was! Maybe. They didn't feel too human. They didn't understand anything anymore. But he knew how to make music. They knew they weren't in the right place, the right time, or in the right body. But there was a way to fix that. There was a way to fix all of that.
They hadn't left a note, hadn't mentioned anything on Nightcord last night. Hadn't done anything that day. When he went up to the roof it felt like he was finally letting go. There was fear of course, fear of being caught, of what happened after, but it all seemed ok in those last few moments. They smiled when he took off their shoes, not the fake one. A real one. It felt good. He hadn't felt that way in a long time.
It had been a cold day out. Most people were inside eating lunch. The few that weren't heard a loud thud.
