December 12, 2005 - 17:18

Satoru, Shoko, Geto, and you were heading back to the academy after a mission involving a special grade curse. Yall were exhausted and wanted nothing more than to get back to your rooms as soon as possible, but your instructor, masamichi yaga, insisted on having a team dinner because you had all made it out alive. Honestly, none of you complained, yall were hungry too

Kiyotaka was the one driving, your friends sitting in the back while you sat in the passenger seat, seeing in the rearview mirror the setting sun on his neck, on Geto's neck.

In the world of sorcery and curses, romance was something almost impossible to have. It was full of distractions, and you never knew who would die first or who would get hurt first. Seeing two classmates together could lead to both of them being separated and kept apart. That's why geto and you had to keep your situationship a secret.

Before you realized, kiyotaka had already stopped the car in front of the restaurant, where your instructor was waiting at the entrance. As you got out of the car, your eyes met geto's for a few microseconds. Yall headed inside to meet yaga.

“I'm gonna order sushi, a triple burger, pizza, ramen... what about you, shoko?” -Gojo said, sounding way too excited

“I want a triple burger too, and a beer!”

While Shoko and Satoru planned how to empty yaga's wallet, geto turned around and looked at you

“And what are you going to order?” -Geto asked in that soft tone he only seemed to have with you.

“Something light... fighting with those things messed up my stomach.”

Geto let out a small laugh

“I can imagine, I'm the one who eats those things...”

“I'm surprised you don't have a problem with it. And what are you going to order?” -you asked casually, looking at him

“I'm not really that hungry” -Geto said, looking away from you- “Maybe sushi or soba.”

When you entered the restaurant, you were surprised by how big it was. It was beautiful, with warm lights, while still maintaining a traditional japanese aesthetic

Your instructor indicates yall to sit at the big table where he was waiting. Geto, Shoko, and Satoru sat down and immediately got excited when they saw the menu, they looked like little kids looking through a children's menu. You took off your coat and hung it next to the others on a bamboo coat rack beside the table

“Excuse me, gotta go to the bathroom,” -you said

Yaga simply nodded- “Take your time”

You went to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on your face. You were feeling somewhat overwhelmed, yes, team dinners were fun, you liked laughing with everyone when the director was drunk, and it was the perfect excuse to sit next to Geto and get closer to him without anyone suspecting anything. But today you weren't in the mood, the only thing you wanted to do right now was to lie down in your bed and rest, but it was what it was.

You sighed and turned the doorknob stepping out of the bathroom, looking toward the table where everyone was sitting.

Shoko, Satoru, and instructor Yaga.

Then you noticed Geto was missing. That boy... you weren't an akinator, but you could guess where he was

Without anyone noticing, you headed toward the restaurant's exit. The wind was blowing even harder now, making the cold worse, is true, you had forgotten your coat inside. Without paying much attention to the cold, you started walking around outside until you saw him beneath the light of a streetlamp, a cigarette in his hand.

When he saw you, Suguru looked surprised

“What are you doing here? Weren't you in the bathroom? And your coat, can't you see how cold it is?” -Geto let out the smoke and placed the cigarette between his lips. He took off his jacket and offered it to you

"Put it on, you're going to catch a cold.”

“No need, I'm fin-”

“Just put it on”

You had no choice but to accept it. As you put it on, you noticed the faint scent of tobacco mixed with something warm and woody

“I was getting overwhelmed in there” -he said, taking another drag- “They're too loud”

“I don't wanna be here neither...”

Geto looked at you curiously- “Are you okey?”

You simply nodded- “I’m just tired”

Geto dropped his cigarette and looked around, there was no one there. Who would be stupid enough to stay outside in temperatures this low? Yeah, both of you

His arms wrapped around your body, pulling you closer in a gentle, familiar way, while his other hand stroked your hair.

You simply stayed there in silence. You didn't try to pull away or scold him, resting your head against his chest, listening to his breathing.

How long had it been since he had treated you like this? A week? No, maybe longer. It didn't matter, what mattered was that you were together now, beneath the light of a streetlamp, with no one around to see you.

“Aren't you cold?” -you asked.

“Nah, I'm fine” -he replied

You didn't know if he really was fine or if he was just acting nonchalant, but you were freezing eventought you were wearing his jacket.

“Should we go back?” -You turned your face to meet his brown and soft eyes

Geto simply smiled genuinely and before you knew it, he pressed his lips against yours. You felt the taste of tobacco, the taste of him, bubbling up inside you

You felt your pulse quicken, and despite the cold, both of you felt warmth, you had really been craving this for a long time, more than you wanted to admit.

When Geto pulled his lips away, you noticed how breathless he had left you.

“Now we can go back” -Geto said, with that cocky smile of his

“Eww, you're gross, don't kiss me after smoking.”

He simply let out a playful laugh as you two walked back to the restaurant again

“Sorry, you looked like you wanted it"

“Huh? What do you mean?”

You noticed Geto's playful smile turning into a softened one

“I'm sorry for not having enough time for us”

You realized it was true, you and Geto just spent time on missions, or any academic excuse, but you hadn't been sneaking around for a while, witch it hurt you a bit, you love Geto, and you love spending time with him, but you knew it wasn’t his fault or yours.

“Don't apologize, it's good to be careful” -you said without looking directly at him.

“I don't think we were very careful just now”

You let out a sigh that almost sounded like a laugh. “No, definitely not...”

“You know? Once we graduate from the academy, we'll be able to do whatever we want” -Geto said, sounding more cheerful than before.

“Yeah, you'll finally be able to smoke legally” -you joked.

Geto pretended to be offended- “That's not what I'm talking about silly, I mean us.”

“I know, I'm not stupid” -you replied- “Will you promise me we'll stay together?” you asked Geto. It wasn't a simple question

He stayed silent for a few seconds before answering.

“You know I hate promises...”

You weren't surprised, you had already expected that kind of answer coming from him

“Yeah, I know...”

You two returned to the restaurant and approached your table, everyone was looking at you two  somewhat suspiciously, and worried

“What were you doing outside? Why weren’t you in the bathroom?” -Shoko asked, sounding worried

“I started to feel dizzy, so I went outside to get some air, and I found Geto”

“Yeah, sorry for making you wait” -Geto added

Shoko still looked concerned- “You could've told me, I would've called Kiyotaka to take you home, I was scared when I went into the bathroom and saw you weren't there.”

“I'm so sorry, but now I'm feeling better” -you said, trying to calm the mood

Shoko smiled in relief, and you all sat back down at the table, which soon began filling with beer, sushi, and expensive food that Gojo made everyone try

Everyone continued eating and laughing around you, it seemed like a perfect moment, that weight after having risked your life, and seeing that you're still here, alive, with your friends, it felt good

Although, it didn't matter how much sushi or delicious food touched your lips, you still craved Geto's lips, the gross ones that tasted like tobacco, and couldn't wait once more to see him, but truly see him, to be alone with him, even if it was only for a few seconds.

Maybe if he would let you give him pinky promise kisses, then you wouldn't have to scream his name atop of every roof in the city of your heart, if you could just see him... But you are aware that Geto hates promises
